SPRINT LANE with ADAM HAMILTON taking the beaten Inter Dominion favourite back to Auckland for two feature races next month. It will be a huge drop in L class because both races are restricted to four-year-old pacers only. The knockers were out in force for Auckland Reactor after his controversial Inter Dominion campaign ended in horror fashion at the Gold Coast on Saturday night. Driver Gavin Lang said the entire started kicking the sulky soon after the start and became uncontrollable. ‘‘I knew very early it was all over. In the end he pulled so hard against me he choked down,’’ he said. Although the result was a shocker for punters, Auck- land Reactor cannot be judged on the run. What happened to him was more like a gear malfunction and any chance he had of winning was ruined. the last week of the Gold Coast Inter Dominion series. Tapp, host of Sky Chan- J + nel’s In The Gig show, had somewhere else to be. In his ‘‘other life’’, Tapp trains horses and boasts a terrific strike-rate. OHN Tapp was notice- able by his absence during Heads up: Mister Feelgood on his way to Inter Dominion glory. Picture: GARY WILD While the Inter Dominion The gelding won his Crown was unfolding, Tapp was at Bathurst preparing his two- year-old pacer Chariot King for the $100,000 Gold Crown. heat on the same night as the second round of Inter Dominion heats. Chariot King capped a fairytale for Tapp when he scored with authority in Saturday night’s final. The Gold Tiara final for two-year-old fillies was won IFE GOES on for Auck- land Reactor. Trainer Mark Purdon is impressively by Lady Euthe- nia, who was a certainty bea- ten at her first start and has won three in a row since. V ICTORIAN pacer Hilton Fly High’s Queensland stint was a huge success. Connections were so thrilled with the three-year- old’s Australian Gold win and second in Saturday night’s Queensland Derby, they plan to leave him with trainer-driver Natalie Rasmussen a bit longer. ‘‘He’s raced up here three times for two wins and a second to Captain Joy in the Derby, which is like another win to us,’’ part-owner Frank Cauchi said. ‘‘Natalie’s done such a fantastic job with the horse, we’ll leave him with her to have a dip at the NSW Derby.’’ Hilton Fly High will then return home for the Vicbred and Breeders Crown. Captain Joy’s Derby rampage may continue in Perth next month. Trainer Susan Hunter said connections were leaning to- wards the $200,000WADerby instead of the NSW Derby, which requires Captain Joy to race in a heat and final. Captain Joy has already won the Victoria Derby and will be seen again in Victoria for the Breeders Crown at Melton in August.
