Herald Sun Form Guide : March 24th 2009
42 Herald Sun, Tuesday, March 24, 2009 + Mildura Sprint Lane: No Daily Double: 5, 7 Quaddie: 4, 5, 6, 7. TAB CODE M H TOUCHTONE 22 1 Mildura Harness 6.30 2190m. $5000. C0 Only RBD Mobile 1 21211 DIONYSUS GOLD 2 7695 FLASH OF DAWN 3 31221 RIP N BURN NZ 4 54557 SOUND IMPACT 5 45632 POLONIS 6 7s576 COALEMUS Second Line 7 8s3s4 HARDCOVER 8 rs8s9 JOHNNIE UTAH Craig’s call: This race looks to be a match between the South Australian pacer DIONYSUS GOLD (1) and the Hepworth Memorial winner RIP N BURN (3). The battle for the early lead will be an important factor and considering DIONYSUS GOLD (1) led last outing and has been placed in 19 of his 22 starts, he gets the nod. RIP N BURN (3) has bounced back to his best form in recent weeks and worked to the front from a second line draw to win the Ray and Grace Hepworth Memorial event last week. This race is no harder but he might be left without cover this evening. POLONIS (5) gained a nice trail but finished on fairly well for second behind Truckies Art in fast time last week. He is a maiden from ten starts for the season but is a winning chance if the two fancied runners go too hard in the early part of the race. SOUND IMPACT (4) and HARDCOVER (7) are minor place possibilities in a race of limited chances. SELECTIONS: DIONYSUS GOLD (1), Rip N Burn (3), Polonis (5), Sound Impact (4) RATINGS: 1,3/ 5/ 4,7 SUGGESTED BET: Flexi First Four 1,3/ 1,3,5/ 1,3,4,5,7/ 1,3,4,5,7 (Cost $20, which gives 83.33%) 9 s8968 JOHNNY HOOK (ODM) Jason McGinty Fr 21.00 Harry Bitzenis (C) Fr 100.00 Lawrence Barnes Fr 100.00 2 Mildura March 29 7.00 1790m. $5000. 2A0 to 2A1 2yo PBD Mobile 1 2 3 4 5 6 LUKE THOMAS 472 EQUITY CHIP SAINT BABE 24 MASTER MASON ROKEWOOD Second Line 7 Craig’s call: MASTER MASON (4) has the benefit of race experience, although he is still learning, so he looks well placed here. He finished solidly for second on debut then wouldn’t run in a straight course when looming as a big chance at Stawell. EQUITY CHIP (2) finished solidly for second when starting at big odds last outing and is a place chance again. SAINT BABE (3) (Grinfromeartoear – Burn Baby Burn) is a Greg Cramp trained first starter, which beat the older horses in her latest Mildura trial victory and must be respected. ROKEWOOD (5) (Elsu – Arts Dream) is also trained by Greg Cramp but is widely drawn for this assignment and was unplaced at her latest trial effort. RONZEL MAX (7) (Safely Kept – Ronzel Sade) is a Noel Walsh trained first starter, which has a trailing draw and has a trial win and third to his credit in recent weeks. LUKE THOMAS (1) (Life Sign – I Remember You) is a Paul Gadsden trained first starter, which is ideally drawn so must be kept safe. SELECTIONS: MASTER MASON (4), Saint Babe (3), Ronzel Max (7), Equity Chip (2) RATINGS: 4/ 1? 2, 3? 5? 7?/ 6 SUGGESTED BET: MASTER MASON (4) to win 4 FINEDROPOFRED RONZEL MAX Neil McCallum Fr 4.00 3 Grand Bottle Shop 7.30 2190m. $5000. Her form prior was very strong and she is worth another chance. MISS NIGHTOWL (6) won two races in succession prior to a disappointing ninth at Cranbourne where she was headed off at the start and pulled away from the markers to race on the outside of the leader. This race is easier and a forward showing would not surprise. WHAT WILL BE (7) gained a nice trail throughout but finished solidly for second (neck) to Campbell Wallace last week and rates as an each way chance. LA MIA BELLA (2) was struggling to hold her ground from the 600m when a distant ninth last week but seems race best when she is able to lead and is a minor place chance. PETITEAS (1) is a possible improver from the pole position and AQUATIC BELLE (4) will appreciate a drop in class. SELECTIONS: MYRNIONG ASTRO (5), Miss Nightowl (6), What Will Be (7), La Mia Bella (2) RATINGS: 5,6/ 7/ 1,2,4 SUGGESTED BET: Flexi Trifecta 5,6/ 5,6,7/ 1,2,4,5,6,7 (Cost $20, which gives 125%) Second Line 7 54492 WHAT WILL BE Mathew Retallick Fr 6.00 4 Lloyd Trading 3YO 8.00 1790m. $5000. 3A0 to 3A1 3yo PBD Mobile 1 03227 YOUR LUCKY DAY NZ 2 3 34124 SIGN OF ANGELS 4 + Craig’s call: YOUR LUCKY DAY (1) led and faded last outing but races much better over the sprint distance where he led and finished second behind the handy performer Flyin Indi Air two starts back. SIGN OF ANGELS (3) followed a second behind One Ace Wonder with a close up fourth in the Gawler Oaks. She will appreciate her best draw for some time and is worth an investment. CAPTAIN RAMA (8) was beaten a long way last outing but that effort was in the Gawler Derby and he was a winner at Globe Derby in February so he must be considered as one of the leading chances. RICHROCKNRUSTLER (5) will appreciate a drop in class on his recent efforts and was a winner in handy time at Kilmore in November so he has the ability to give a forward showing. WRINKLE NUTT (10) ran home gamely behind Rip N Burn last week and TRINITA ROAD (11) is a minor place possibility. SELECTIONS: YOUR LUCKY DAY (1), Sign Of Angels (3), Captain Rama (8), Richrocknrustler (5) RATINGS: 1,3/ 8/ 5/ 10,11 SUGGESTED BET: Flexi Trifecta 1,3,8/ 1,3,5,8/ 1,3,5,8,10,11 (Cost $20, which gives 55.55%) Second Line 7 s8954 PADDY MOREAU 8 31394 CAPTAIN RAMA 9 7s877 PALOMBA FLYER 10 26313 WRINKLE KNUTT 11 76132 TRINITA ROAD Mathew Retallick Fr 10.00 Clinton Fuller Fr 8.00 Neil McCallum Fr 41.00 Jason McGinty Fr 5.00 Luke Watson Fr 8.00 5 53866 RICHROCKNRUSTLER 6 009 RAGTONI ANNIE (Em1) 98 JOSHS JASPER 6s EL RINGO Allan MacDonald Fr David Harding Fr 8.00 Paul Gadsden Fr 41.00 Nathan Jack (C) Fr ?2.60 Ros Rolfe Fr 41.00 Q1 Mark Lee Fr 4.50 Kimberly Hardy (C,cl) Fr ?3.50 Danny O’Bree Fr 13.00 Glenn Douglas Fr 4.00 Todd Matthews Fr ?3.50 Nathan Jack (C) Fr ?3.50 Jason McGinty Fr 8.00 Paul Gadsden Fr 7.00 Leigh Sutton Fr ?3.00 Sally Hardy (C) Fr 4.00 Glenn Douglas Fr 4.50 Jack O’Bree Fr 11.00 Jason McGinty Fr 26.00 David Harding Fr ?2.00 Kimberly Hardy (C) Fr 26.00 Glenn Douglas Fr ?2.00 Sally Hardy (C) Fr 21.00 Mathew Retallick Fr 10.00 Jack O’Bree Fr 26.00 Craig Rail’s specials: BEST BET: BEST VALUE: BEST ROUGHIE: Wrinkle Nutt Rail’s $50 Flexi Quaddie for 25% 1,3,5,8,10/ 1,3,7,8,9/ 3,6,8,10/ 5,6 5 Grand Sports Bar 8.30 1790m. $5200. LOADED MIND (7) boxed on well after being three wide for the final lap last week. If he can push through behind JENNAS BEACH GIRL (1) at the start, he is a genuine each way threat. OHOKA GEORGIA (8) has struggled to find his best form in three starts in the North West but has a trailing draw and looks well graded against this field. AWESOME ALTO (3) will find this easier than his latest unplaced effort in the Calder Cup and has been commencing from big handicaps from the standing start so he is worth an investment here. GAME VEE JAY (9) gets into this race with a concession claim and has run a couple of handy races lately so looks to be a value chance. He is a brilliant beginner from the standing start and is worth following. BIG GAME (6) began brilliantly from behind the tapes to lead comfortably at a standing start event in February. He was second to Jennas Beach Girl in a harder race last week and is capable of going one better here. NOTJUSTANOTHERAMA (10) led from a good draw but copped some pressure from Whiskey And Ice and tired into eighth in the Northern Region Championship on Thursday. He was a heat winner of that series prior and will find this assignment much easier. CRUZHEDOZ (8) pushed forward to lead and proved too strong for The Best Sound last week. This race is a little harder but he is worth a place ticket. CATLINS LORD (11) faces a tough handicap but has performed nicely from behind the tapes in the past while both GUNMETAL GREY (2) and ELLENRITA (5) are good standing start beginners. ELYSEES CREST (6) is a classy South Australian mare, which finished reasonably well out wide on the track for fourth behind Conte De Christo in the Gawler Cup. She has a good record and is worth following. THE GOLDEN BIRD (1) trailed the leader OUR CLASSIC JACK (8) and got up to beat that pacer in handy time last week. This race is a little tougher but she is drawn to go well again. ALBERTA VANCE (9) hasn’t had much luck recently but has been placed at her past six starts and should be hitting the line strongly. OUR CLASSIC JACK (8) would be better suited being drawn on the front line but rates as a minor place chance in a strong race to end the Quaddie. GEMELLCO (1) finished quite well last week and is better drawn than her past two performances so she should run a good race here. HIGHVIEW HANOVER (7) is gradually showing improvement and got up to finish third in a similar race last week. She has the perfect trailing draw and rates as an each way chance.
