heraldsun.com.au Caulfield TODAY PROS TALKING Geoff Donald BOOKMAKER The Golden Slipper has always been the goal forMOREJOYOUS (Rosehill R7 No. 8 ) and her last- start victory suggests she is right on track for today. She’s also bred to handle the ground. Save on ROSTOVA(Rosehill R7, No. 9). Robbie Griffiths TRAINER COCINERO(Caul R6 No. 2): He’s in great form and ripper condition. He’s not a big horse and 59kg is a concern. He’s drawn well which may compensate for the weight. NUCLEARFORCE(Caul R8 No. 7): She’s going well and this looks a nice race for her. She’s got a horrible barrier, though, and might be stuck out on a limb. GUEST TIPSTER Peter White Organiser Pink Ribbon Cup Race4Caulfield No. 1 Tindal Race6Caulfield No. 8El Mandon HOT JOCKS HERALD SUN SUPERFORM LIFTOUT MIDNIGHT OIL with TIM HABEL TRACK: dead 5 PENETROMETER: 4.91 RAIL: out 13 metres LAST MEETING: out 10m LAST TIME OUT 13m: Dec. 10 RAINFALL: 11mm for week IRRIGATION: 11mm for week RADAR: showers 1 2 MISS BELLEZZA (2) is down in grade from stakes races in Adelaide. She rises 4kg on her last run but is back to fillies company. BETTER BE THE ONE (3) was easy in the betting but scored impressively on debut at Moonee Valley. AZWA (1) might have run into an above average filly in Mont Fleuri here two weeks ago. ON PACERS: Azwa, Absolute Faith SWOOPERS: Miss Bellezza, Better Be The One SUGGESTED BET: Box quinellas 1, 2, 6 MARVEEN (1) is a quality mare down in grade from recent group races. She gets in with a winna- ble weight of 57.5kg after the claim. Stablemate TESTA MONTE (3) can improve. She’s ready for the 1600m now after two sprint runs and placed behind Estee here at this trip in October. PETROICA (4), JEUNE DE COUER (5) and LIVE IN SIN (6) are place chances. ON PACERS: Jeune De Couer, Live In Sin SWOOPERS: Marveen, Testa Monte, Petroica SUGGESTED BET: Marveen straight out ing to on-pacers. She’s not well weighted on ratings but is a promising staying mare and should get a good pace here from PREVARICATE (7). GRAND DESTINY (1) is looking for the 2440m now and looks well graded. So is ARAPAHO MISS (2) the Oaks winner who comes off an Australian Cup ninth. She’s since trialled at Cranbourne over 1500m on Monday. LADIES IN LUCK (3) has had plenty of racing but is also down in class from an Adelaide Cup run. 3 ON PACERS: Prevaricate SWOOPERS: Grand Destiny, Arapa- ho Miss, Ladies In Luck, Flying Monty SUGGESTED BET: Flying Monty each-way Caulfield apprentice Brenton Avdulla has six rides and looks great value in the TAB Sportsbet Jockey’s Challenge. THE MARKET $2.00 $4.00 $6.00 $9.00 $12.00 $16.00 $18.00 $18.00 Chris Symons Any other indiv. jockey Jason Benbow Ibrahim Gundogdu Aaron Spiteri Daniel Moor Danny Brereton Darren Gauci 4 has been impressive at the provin- cials and is read to step into this good class race. He was unextended to win at Ballarat last time. TINDAL (1) and HUXSSEN (4) are the proven city class runners. Tindal is an on-pacer well in after the claim while Huxssen is a backmarker, dropping in grade from the Cadbury Guineas who needs the pace on. ON PACERS: Tindal, Lyell, Trustus THIS is one of the best races for the day and a mystery why it’s not a quaddie leg. VEEWAP (6) FLYING MONTY (10) got too far out of her ground last time at Moonee Valley on a track play- 5 Keeping time: Larry’s Never Late has impressed. winning here at 1600m last time coming from last. The extra 200m is ideal and he is the one to beat again. OZOLINS (2) ran third in the same race when outsprinted but he stuck to his task. ROYAL STRIKER (4) ran on well behind the smart Iamzeus at Flemington indicating he is looking for this longer trip. MATEO (12), also engaged in Adelaide today, ran on well at Sandown last time just beating home Big Col who won at Caulfield last Saturday. ON PACERS: Palm Trilogy, Lord Pindari SWOOPERS: Larry’s Never Late, Ozolins, Royal Striker, St Ives, Mateo SUGGESTED BET: Larry’s Never Late straight out 6 (4) looks well placed after a sound first-up run at Moonee Valley behind top class Lucky Secret. He will sit outside likely leader JUNGLE RULER (3), and won’t mind yester- day’s rain to take the jar out of the track. COMMANDING HOPE (6) hit the line well in the same race at the Valley. He’s a backmarker and if swoopers are suited he’ll take holding out. DIPLOMATIC FORCE (1) is the class runner. But he can miss the kick so the inside draw is no help and he has the steadier of 60 kg. COCINERO (2) is a marvel who keeps winning but is also getting right up in the weights. MASKED ASSASSIN (5), ran well here behind Cocinero at his first run from an extended spell. ON PACERS: Jungle Ruler, In The Shadows THE BANKERS ON CLASS: MARVEEN (Race 2 No 1) ON PRECEDENT: LARRY’S NEVER LATE (Race 5 No 1) SWOOPERS: Huxssen, Veewap, Zizz, Returntosender SUGGESTED BET: Veewap each- way ON VIDEO: ROSLOTTA (Race 7 No 11) $50 FLEXI QUADDIE FOR 27.7%: 1, 2, 4, 12/1, 2, 4, 5, 6/3, 11, 12/ 1, 6, 7, 10 The race of the day with some grand sprinters clashing. The consistent IN THE SHADOWS LARRY’S NEVER LATE (1) is on the SA Derby path and could not have been more impressive 7 SWOOPERS: Diplomatic Force, Co- cinero, Masked Assassin, Command- ing Hope, Nine Tales SUGGESTED BET: In The Shadows each-way 8 stage but hit the line strongly here behind Hissing Sid last time and this is no stronger. VILLIAN (12) hasn’t lived up to the promise he showed when second favourite and fourth in a Victoria Derby. But he resumed after being gelded and ran on well at Flemington after being held up early in the straight. POISED TO WIN (3) overraced last time here in the stronger Anniversary Vase and dropped out. A tongue tie has been applied and on his best form would be right in the finish. FIRE IN THE NIGHT (5) raced on pace and faded in the same race after a pleasing first-up run. OKAY OKY (8) goes to 1600m for just the second time, his only run being a Winter Championship fifth and will be running on as usual. ON PACERS: Fire In The Night, Joontoo Gemini SWOOPERS: Poised To Win, Aztec Smytzer, Okay Oky, Roslotta, Villain SUGGESTED BET: Roslotta each- way, quinellas 11 with 3, 12. for NUCLEAR FORCE (7) and GOLDFIELD ASHES (10). Nuclear Force ran on well here behind Dance On Air who was untested in front. She’s won twuice on dead ground. Goldfield Ashes hasn’t won since September 2007 but runs her best races early in her campaign with the speed on and handles dead ground. The speed comes from DELYARA (1), DANCE ON AIR (2), and Sydney visitor DISCIPLINED (4) who is down in grade. WHITEHAVEN GIRL (6) chased home Dance On Air here two weeks ago when first-up and is better suited here. The more rain the better for her. ONPACERS: Delyara, Dance On Air, Discplined, SWOOPERS: Hifalutin, Whitehaven Girl, Nuclear Force, SUGGESTED BET: Box quinella 6,7,10. LOADS of speed here and late in the day swoopers could in vogue.
