He’s only raced eight times for two wins and five placings and comes off a fast finishing Geelong success over a death seat HUNG JURY (10). He draws much better this time while HUNG JURY (10) goes to the second line. NORTHERN GEM (9) is an improving type who won at Horsham at his first start for Peter Manning, then was a tough third at Stawell before screaming home from the rear on the home turn to impressively beat a sprint laning MACH TWAIN (6) at Terang last week. HUNG JURY (10) ran third in a Derby heat to Captain Joy before finishing mid-field in the final, then resumed with his Geelong second to DUAL AGENT TABMAN (2) before sitting in the breeze and easily beating moderate opposition there a fortnight ago. He’ll be doing his best work at the finish. COASTAL (7) beat Garnet River in a daytime race here in February, then was an unlucky second to Living On Fire on this circuit before a fourth in the Geelong Guineas. He comes off a battling third to Garnet River in a fast last half at Kilmore last week. Each way chances to D B DAZZLER (1), PRESIDE OVER (5), CLASSICAL MUSICIAN (8) and JACCKA FELIX (11). LET ME THRU (1) used the sprint lane to run past OUR AYTHREEEIGHTY (6) at Kilmore a month ago when they were both debuting, before not figuring when down the track at Yarra Valley. Last week from a wide draw at Maryborough, he got miles back in the run before flashing home late for fourth to OUR AYTHREEEIGHTY (6), who had the run of the race and ran down disappointing favourite MAGIC INTEREST (4). Last season’s Breeders Crown winner MAGIC INTEREST (4) has been in solid form this season, although his latest two runs when placed at Yarra Valley and at Maryborough have been slightly below par. He should lead with the polemarker on his back. OUR AYTHREEEIGHTY (6) has shown great talent in both runs and he was impressive in his preview win. The other winning chance belongs to AFTANOONDELITE (3), a well bred filly who showed loads of ability in her tough debut second at Maryborough when caught in the breeze and fighting on well to sit outside and eventually relegate MAGIC INTEREST (4) into third place. RENAISSANCE MAN (1) came from miles back to impressively win a standing start race on debut at Geelong back in January, then put up a monster effort when sprinting from last and narrowly beaten by Bells And Whistles in a record 1:56.1 here in February. He lacks early speed but the extra journey of this race will be right up his alley. JAR ZINYO (4) showed good speed in his slow all the way debut victory at Geelong eight weeks ago and looks the likely leader. This is his first test at this level but he looks a likely type. DARK CAMEO (2) ran quick sectionals in his debut Maryborough victory from the stand in February, then sat in the breeze to win at Cranbourne in 1:58.5 before sitting outside Bells And Whistles when fighting on well to be beaten a length here a fortnight ago. There isn’t much between that trio with KAMWOOD JACK (6), who draws awkwardly, looking the other winning chance. He beat Modern Warrior to win “The Lombo” at Shepparton back in January, then ran a big race here behind Bells And Whistles before disappointing efforts in a Bulli series. He returned from a break of a month when making late ground for third over this trip to Bells And Whistles and DARK CAMEO (2) here a fortnight ago. RATINGS: 1 / 2, 4 / 6. Competitive with our best youngsters as a two and three year old, he comes off back-to-back wins at Leeton and Shepparton and a close second to Art Trader in a fast 1:58.3 for this trip when out-stayed by that fellow here a fortnight ago. He should lead again and will be better for that run, his first for a month. PARASITE (10) is an ex-Kiwi who’s won 4 of his last 7, the most recent three on end. He was outstanding in fast and tough wins in heat and final of the Northern Region Championship at Nyah and Mildura, then overcame a mistake to win after a tough and wide last lap at Albury last weekend. MICKIE DILINGER (5) ran a death seat third to Art Trader when resuming at Bendigo a month ago, then sat in the breeze to beat Sledging there before working to the lead when cut down late in one of these races here last week by Our Maid Marianne in a fast 1:57.9. He’ll be fully wound up for this and hard to hold out. SECRET TENDER (11) won three on end before finishing well from the rear for third at Bendigo last time and he has each way claims along with STEVE MCQUEEN (6), an ex-Kiwi with plenty of ability who’s trialled well for his first run in a couple of months; and CRUSADERS CASTLE (7), one of our top three year olds last season who found trouble when resuming here a fortnight ago. MCGINTYSGOAT (3) and STATUS SEEKER (8) are a must for trifecta takers. RATINGS: 1 / 10 / 5 / 11 / 6? 7 / 3, 8. SUGGESTED BET: JAYDENS CASTLE (1) to win. 5 Express Post Pace 2100m. $15001. BAD ALL OVER (5) was a top youngster in New Zealand a couple of season back and was heavily supported when leading and weakening in his Australian debut when sixth to WALTON VAN (10) in a day race here five weeks ago. He returned from a short break where he led and was pressured by Whipair before winding up a gallant third to that horse in a fast 1:57.5 for this trip at Bendigo a fortnight ago and will be much fitter for the run. Talented Riverina performer UPWARD EVER UPWARD (6) has won 20 of his 46 starts and was a tough winner over Irish Sailor in a similar race to this at Shepparton back in January. He comes off an all the way Wagga victory and a fast finishing second at Bathurst a fortnight ago. LOMBO LIMMO (2) has been close up in recent runs at this level but it’s now more than a year since his latest win. He didn’t have much luck when fifth to Tanabi Bromac at Kilmore last week, draws better this time and gets Gavin. WALTON VAN (10) did all the work in the breeze before gaining the one-one sit at the bell in that Kilmore affair and he wasn’t disgraced. He’s won four races here this season and is a sit/sprint performer who’ll be running home strongly in the closing stages. YUCATCHIM (1) hasn’t quite reached the heights he did last season but wasn’t disgraced here last week and has each way claims from the pole. ROCKET WARRIOR (3) has been racing okay in claimers and grows a leg when able to lead, which he may do here. LUV THA ACES LOMBO (8) won nine races last season but is winless this term. He ran home well when fifth in a fast 56.6 last split to Tanabi Bromac here a fortnight ago. RATINGS: 5 / 2, 6, 10 / 1 / 3, 8. LUCKY ELSIE (10) had a slow start to her Victorian campaign but has really come to the fore in recent times. An impressive Terang winner five starts back, she won the standing start Hamilton Cup on that circuit early last month, then was wide in the last lap when narrowly beaten in FFA company by Bold Cruiser here before sitting in the breeze and rating a brilliant 1:55.2 in a tough mile victory on this track a fortnight ago. DEANNA TROY (12) won the Ladyship Mile at Harold Park and the George Johnson in Tasmania prior to Christmas, before running second to I Am Sam in the Horsham Cup and second in a hot Geelong affair behind Cosmic Under Fire. She hasn’t started since missing away and finishing unplaced in the Hunter Cup behind Mister Feelgood eight weeks ago but has trialled okay for her return. VERY CHIC (2) is a bold front runner who had to do it hard in the breeze when third here last week. She should lead this time and, with the favourites drawn awkwardly, will be hard to run down. That trio rate clearly ahead of GLORIA LOMBO (1), who’s resuming, BAY TORRENT (3) and PRINCESS DILINGER (4), who both impressed in last start victories, along with PACIFIC CHARM (6), who’ll be improved by two runs from a break, and HARRYS LASS (9), who was beaten narrowly into third place by LUCKY ELSIE (10) over the mile here a fortnight ago. He made it 7 wins from 11 starts this season when handing up to Skyvalley and producing a 57.5 last half to run down that fellow (Dream A Moment third) at Bendigo before galloping away and giving last week’s all the way winner Dream A Moment a monstrous start and running a gallant second to him after working hard mid-race to the breeze. He’ll win this with a clean getaway. BILLY ROYLE (9) ran a mighty second to Sundons Gift under FFA conditions here two starts back and battled on well after being over-used from his back mark at Cranbourne a fortnight ago when fourth to all the way winner JUST GLORIOUS (8). They both rate as top chances here. Ex-Kiwi SUN OF IRIS (2) raced well at the top level in his homeland but didn’t do a great deal in three runs here before racing away for an easy back mark victory in the Cobram Marathon last Monday. A clean beginning should see him hard to run down. Each way chances to the consistent LA MOSCA (1) and FLYING HARDWICK (5), who’s won twice recently since returning to the Chris Lang fold. He gets Douglas and looks hardest to beat. BULLEE BULLEE (1) followed some consistent form here with an all the way victory at Cranbourne during the week and should be in front again. That will bring the consistent NO MORE SECRETS (8) into the race as he should be sitting in the trail. There was nothing wrong with this fellow’s last start second in a 1:56.4 mile on this circuit a fortnight ago.
