He should be fitter for that effort and this looks to be a suitable assignment. FOGNHAZE (2) was resuming since a fourth behind Tuff Jag in November 2007 when eighth at Yarra Valley then followed with an eleventh at Kilmore. His form this preparation looks ordinary on paper but this is a big drop in class and he gets his chance to improve. COUNTESS CULLEN (5) is a half sister to the classy performer Veranjee and should be improved by her first up seventh behind Blyton Bromac (won again since). She was placed behind Ladyinlace at Yarra Valley in August and is not without a chance against this line up. THE PUMPER (1) was placed at Shepparton two starts back and is drawn to give a bold showing. BLACK QUARTZ (2) is the likely leader of the event and led early before being outgunned by Mr Clancy with a lap to go and using the sprint lane at his latest second. He led throughout to defeat D B Dazzler (won since) three starts back and is a winning chance again. VICTREOS (3) finished well via the sprint lane at his latest third and is not without a chance here. UNCLE KRACKER (4) seems to race best at Cranbourne where he scored over Joes Beauty three starts back. He is likely to gain a nice trail and is capable of filling a place. ARMBROS CHOICE (7) has disappointed at his past two efforts but seems to race best over the sprint distance so he will have conditions to suit him here. He only missed out narrowly at Warragul last outing and is capable of going one better here. LOTSA QUIDS (6) ran a good race at his first attempt for trainer Tony Xiriha and should be even better for that performance. He is a strong type when racing at his best form and rates as an each way chance here. THE DELIRAMA (4) was held up for a run at a vital stage and found the line strongly for third behind Sweeten The Pot and BRIALINGER BOY (3) at Warragul. He is racing better than his form reads and is not without a chance. SHOGUN LOMBO (1) is likely to end up trailing the leader CENTENARY GLAD (2) and is a value hope via the sprint lane. He should be further improved by the run and did compete in a heat of the Great Northern Derby in New Zealand so he is worth following. LORDOFTHEFLY (3) finally got his chance to face the starter after being withdrawn on several occasions when he sprinted quickly to win in handy time at Shepparton. That was his best effort since winning a heat of the Grand Slam at Yarra Valley last season and he is worth thought again. BILLY WALTON (7) was resuming since July 2007 when he parked on the outside of the leader and scored effortlessly at Echuca. This race is much harder but he should have benefited from that outing so he is worth thought on an each way basis. WANDERING GUY (8) beat a much easier line up at Maryborough but could sneak into a place while SLAMMIN STAN (2) will appreciate a better draw here than his past two appearances. She took out the Australian Gold last season and should be very hard to beat in this assignment. PERFECT KATIE (5) didn’t have much luck when fourth in the Kyabram Cup last outing and will appreciate racing against her own sex here. She did beat subsequent Super Series heat winner Miss Laura Jane in a Cobram victory three starts back and is one of the leading chances here. HULA GOLD (2) is an underrated mare, which hasn’t had much luck against strong opposition at her past three outings. She is ideally drawn and is capable of figuring in the finish. WYA MYA MACRAY (9) would be better suited by a front line draw but is a minor place hope along with TAYARNA MIA (6) and LAHAINI (8). He ran a huge race for second to Hung Jury prior and should prove hard to beat from his good draw. THE COURAGE WITHIN (7) was beaten in a very strong race at Kilmore last outing and dashed home in a fast final quarter of 28.4 seconds when he won on that track prior. He is poorly drawn but is very versatile and is worth an investment. MEET MY MAKER (3) produced a career best performance when he led throughout to win in handy time (2200m) at Ballarat last outing. He could find the lead again and will take catching if he repeats that performance. THE PRESTIGE (10) worked hard to lead and held off his rivals to win narrowly at Cranbourne then endured a tough run when he parked on the outside of the leader throughout at Maryborough. He is poorly drawn but is worth thought on an each way basis. She is awkwardly drawn but should be finishing strongly. CRUSADERS CASTLE (7) is a quality 4yo, which finished second in a Consolation of the Breeders Crown at his 3yo season, which saw him contest several Derbies. He dropped out from a wide draw and used inside runs when a luckless seventh at Moonee Valley last outing and is likely to find this assignment to be much easier. BECADA STAR (2) finished strongly from last when an eye-catching sixth at his third run back from a break and is ready to break through for a win. LIMIT LESS (12) is a tough performer and races best when he is close to the pace. He ran a top race for second at Maryborough two starts back and is a place chance again. THIRD TEE (8) broke stride in the final 100m when looming into a threatening position at Terang last outing. He was a winner at Horsham in February and looks to be a value hope in a race of limited winning chances. He showed immense potential last preparation but continued to make mistakes in his races. He is resuming since August but has won two recent trials at Shepparton and will take beating with a faultless display. WONT BE THE SAME (7) was a winner at Ballarat three starts back and faded into a distant third when taking on a strong field last time. He has a consistent record and should be considered as a winning chance. MAORI MISCHIEF (9) recorded two wins in succession prior to a fourth to Gluteus Maximus where she ran along at a genuine tempo throughout. She has been impressive in her three runs since coming from South Australia and must be respected. IMSOCLASSY (8) is a very honest trotter, which found the front and won comfortably last outing. This race is no harder and he should be competitive again. BARNEYS INVASION (12) endured a wide trip but kept chasing when third at Echuca last outing. She has several fast beginners drawn on the inside of her, but she recorded an amazing time of 1.54.7 for the mile at her latest Newcastle victory. PACE AND VISION (5) worked to the line strongly for third behind the smart Queensland pacer Very Cool on a very wet track at Dubbo last week. He is an underrated pacer with each way claims in this event. JACKSON GRANT (10) worked very hard in the same race won by Very Cool last week and raced well in M0 events during the Inter Dominion Carnival at the Gold Coast prior so he is worth another chance. TED BUTLER (3) bounced back to his best form when he led throughout to win last outing. He is likely to find the markers in the early stages of this event but he might find this field a little tougher to beat. JULIUS APOLLO (5) is a genuine sprinter, which boasts recent placed efforts behind the handy performers Virage and Johnny El Gringo. This race is a little easier than his latest fifth and he looks to be a good each way bet. DENS BLUE BEEJAY (4) is working into some form and finished solidly for second behind Cairn Eddie Go last week. He has only recorded 1 win in his past 13 starts but this looks to be a suitable assignment. LAVROS FROST (6) has competed against the top pacer Runaway Fire at his past three performances and recorded a victory at Penrith prior so a forward showing would not surprise. APOLLO DRIVE (9) seems to race best at Newcastle where he has won two of his past three starts but he rates as an each way chance from his trailing draw. The former South Australian pacer FIFTY GORILLAS (5) is racing in peak form having won four of his past five starts. This race is harder than his recent efforts at Menangle but he does possess a fast finishing burst. THE LIGHTNING RIDGE (4) is a fast beginner from the mobile and has raced against strong opposition over the past two weeks. He gets into this race with a concession claim and is one of the leading place hopes. HEEZGOTATTITUDE (5) showed good early speed to lead, and was gunned down by Runaway Fire in fast time last outing. He may not be able to head off the smart mare MUSCLE BEACH (3) at the start but he should run his usual honest race. He is very versatile and is clearly the horse to beat. LOMBO ASTREOS (10) showed an exceptional amount of ability in his trial efforts leading up to his debut third where he endured an extremely hard run in fast time. That effort seemed to take a toll on his first preparation but he won first up for trainer Paul Fitzpatrick and he might be on the way back to his best form. ART OF WAR (6) won at Menangle on debut then endured a tough run at his latest third. He has ability and is not without a chance. CELTIC CRUSADER (4) is rising in class but is building up a good record and ALVARES (2) led throughout to score at Penrith last outing so both are worth thought in multiple combinations. RUSTY GATE (9) was slowly away and endured a tough run when a tiring ninth on a very wet track at Dubbo last week. This race looks more suitable and he is worth another chance. CLASSIC BEACH GIRL (6) has been runner up at her past two performances at Menangle and has only missed a place once in six starts for the season so is worth an investment. ERNIES KEEP (5) was placed at Harold Park three starts back and raced at metropolitan level last outing so looks well placed here with a concession claim. BLUE REEF (8) is a handy pacer when racing at her best form but is resuming since November and has an awkward barrier draw. She has a consistent record and is a place chance despite being first up. Other place hopes include CARDIFF ARMS (2), the former Queensland pacer BEATEM (4), and SNOW LION (7).
