Herald Sun Form Guide : April 22nd 2009

He bumped into Renaissance Man on debut, ran a handy third to Dark Cameo here, led and was collared late behind Fulgent at Kilmore then he stepped it up a notch I thought when he beat a good field here last start after leading. He switches back to the stand and is off the 10m mark but is clearly the horse to beat. FLIGHT TO MIKINOS (2) was first up for three months when he led but tired to run fifth to Jorg Is Best last time at Warragul. He’ll be fitter and meets a much easier line up here. ZAIRE BELLE (1) was terrific on debut when she got a long way back but found the line strongly to run a close up fourth behind Loving Life Lombo at Shepparton. She’ll be competitive here if she handles the stand. First starter is BUNGALALLY (6) (Life Sign – Just The Ticket) who has been trialling only fairly for his debut run today. SELECTIONS: WAIWERA SOUTH (7), Flight To Mikinos (2), Zaire Belle (1), Bungalally (6) RATINGS: 7/ 1,2/ 4,6 ?/ 5/ 3 SUGGESTED BET: WAIWERA SOUTH (7) to win 2 R & L Emerson Pace 1.17 2190m. $5000. HANBID (1) gets the nod courtesy of the good barrier. He had his chance when he trailed the leader and used the sprint lane to run second behind Hawaiian Daisy at Kilmore. This is no harder however and will get every chance from the draw. MASTER MALCOLM (2) made up good ground when fourth to Villagem in a fast run race at Shepparton last start and can be dangerous in this. IRISH COMPARISON (7) was a good third here two starts back then did things wrong at Bendigo. He has since won a trial on this track and will be running on. FLIGHTTONULLY (8) was well held last time at Ballarat but should get a soft run on the pegs and can place along with FRANKIEWHITEBOOTS (4) and ARMBROOSKY (5). He was a good third two back behind smart four-yearold Boom Boom Becker at Charlton then was just behind the placegetters at Echuca form a tricky draw. He has good gate speed and can make his own luck. Main danger looks to be the speedy mare LIVE TO FLY (3). She has been most consistent this season and deserves to crack it for another win. She has great gate speed and may be the leader. RED CONQUEROR (4) did a good job to run third to Paris Angel at Horsham last start after parking out. May have to do work again from the draw but he should be in the finish. DELIGHTFUL SOKY (1) didn’t have much luck behind Dougie Ray at Ballarat last Friday night and has drawn to show up. HARBHAJAN (8) looks the next best and may be the blowout if they go hard up front. He hasn’t been seen since a strong death seat third to Black Legacy at Moonee Valley back in February but did have a trial hit out at Kilmore 15 days ago to sharpen him up for this assignment today. He handles the stand start conditions well and should win. WINGSOFANEAGLE (3) ran fifth to Princess Dilinger in a strong Moonee Valley affair three runs ago, followed that up with a fast finishing third to Oursandybeach at Charlton then didn’t have the best of luck at Horsham last start behind Guilt Bromac. Drops in grade here and should race well. CASUAL FELLA (8) has finished down the track his past two at Moonee Valley in much tougher company than this. He handles these conditions and was a fast finishing second to Tear It All Away at Geelong three runs back. Next best is MADEMOISELLE GIGI (1) who is a flyer from the tapes and can run a cheeky race first up and VILLAGE PUNGEE (5) can improve on his recent form. She hasn’t drawn the best but her class should carry her close to winning this. CRAVE (8) is yet to miss a place in his seven start career. He was an easy Albury winner two back then ran home strongly behind the handy D B Dazzler on cup day at Warragul. WARNED (1) is going for the hat trick after wins at Ballarat and Geelong. He doesn’t have a great deal of gate speed and may be crossed at the start which is a concern. The next best are the poorly drawn pair of PJAYSPARTY (7) who found the line strongly in a stand here last start and DOUTZEN (11) beat a handy line up at Mildura last time but this is a tougher assignment and will need all of Queensland young gun Peter McMullen’s skill to get him home from the barrier. He galloped away hopelessly from the stand and gave them a big head start but still managed to run second in a fast run race. He gets back behind the mobile today where he had won his past six runs including a devastating Moonee Valley success two starts ago. He has drawn awkwardly here but looks far too good for his rivals. His main danger if any appears to be the improving SHIRAZ CABERNET (2). He’s won three of five this season including a last start Echuca victory after enjoying a soft run. He too will relish the return to mobile conditions. JIM GEE FLETCHER (1) has had four runs back from a spell and has been thereabouts in each. Nicely drawn here and should receive every chance. She wasn’t far away behind Art Trader two back at Bendigo then did a stack of work and ran a creditable fifth to Mighty Shard at Charlton just over a month ago. She has been freshened for this and is worth a ticket each way. COBARGO MAGIC (5) has always shown ability. She’s had the four runs back from a spell with the latest of those a nice fourth to Miss Laura Jane. This is easier and she should be ready to show her best. SOLICIT (7) finished off strongly in quick fractions for second to Parwan Rocket at Cranbourne last start and will be running on strongly again with the right run into the race. HUNG JURY (11) is the class factor and on the strength of his last start second to Coastal at Moonee Valley is the one they have to beat. Only query is the second row draw over the sprint trip but he is tough and will look the winner at some stage in the straight. ON ANY DAY (4) was a strong second to Staghorn Flat at Shepparton two back then finished best to score at Cobram last time. He has the barrier draw advantage over his two main rivals and may find the front. BROOKFIELD RULER (7) is the only other possible winning hope. ISLAND STORM (1) has the ideal draw and is a quick beginner. He’s racing in great form and was just beaten last start when facing the breeze. He won at Maryborough using the sprint lane, before leading all the way at Echuca at his previous two runs. He looks hard to beat here. SACRE COEUR (2) didn’t have much luck at his first two starts from NZ before leading all the way at his last two from the stand. Top show. The smart ALEPPO ICE (6) will be better for his first up Cobram win after doing it tough. Strong claims. HOWARDS DILEMMA (12) will strip fitter for her first up second in a Vicbred heat at Maryborough. Go close. KWIK AND LIVELY (5) has plenty of ability and did lead all the way at Echuca last start. Each way. SELECTIONS: ISLAND STORM (1), Sacre Coeur (2), Allepo Ice (6), Howards Dilemma (12). RATINGS: 1, 2, 6, 12 / 5 / 3, 9, 10, 11. SUGGESTED BET: Box Trifecta: 1, 2, 5, 6 & 12. $20.00 for 33.3%. SMOOTH HAYLEY (5) worked hard to lead when an all the way winner at Echuca three starts back. Disappointing since in stronger company. Go well. MISTER CLINTON (7) was placed in a similar event two starts back and did it tough last start . Go close despite the poor draw. TAKE ME HOLM JACK (11) can do much better than recent form suggests. Go on a good third at Ararat three starts back. SCOTTISH NAIAS (1) has the ideal draw and has been thereabouts of late. Include in multiples along with HOLME OK (8) who bobs up now and then and could be running on along the sprint lane. THE ALBERTS (3) won four starts back so should be included in trifectas. Place chances to BULLANTIC (4), and JACCKA DUDE (9). SELECTIONS: SMOOTH HAYLEY (5), Mister Clinton (7), Take Me Holm Jack (11), Scottish Nias (1). RATINGS: 5, 7 / 11 / 1, 8 / 3, 4, 9.
