Herald Sun Form Guide : April 23rd 2009
50 Herald Sun, Thursday, April 23, 2009 + Kilmore Sprint Lane: Yes Daily Double: 5, 7 Quaddie: 4, 5, 6, 7. TAB CODE P H TOUCHTONE 26 1 O’Dwyer Horseshoes 1.15 2150m. $5000. C0 Only RBD Stand 2 7278s SPACE ODYSSEY 3 1 3s KING HIGH NZ Hutchy says: KING HIGH (1) has raced the once for a close third when favourite at Charlton in July last year. He resumes off an impressive Bendigo standing start trial victory over Shesalittleone and Sacre Coueur, with those runners both racing well in much stronger races than this. SPACE ODYSSEY (2) ran second from the stand at Maryborough from four runs more than a year ago, and resumes into a winnable race. Keep him safe. SIRGUMBY (9) had no luck in his latest standing start try three runs back at Geelong and has since been placed at Ballarat behind Franco Newsman and from the breeze at Ararat. Had he drawn the front, he’d have been the top pick. SHOWBOAT CASEY (4), TWO LAAGS (7) and REGAL OPERATIVE (8) are also in the mix. The first starter is PUSHY WEARS PRADA (3) (Impressionist – Royal Minder), an Eric Hurley trained five year old mare who’s been placed in a couple of recent Bacchus Marsh trials. SELECTIONS: KING HIGH (1), Space Odyssey (2), Sirgumby (9), Pushy Wears Prada (3). RATINGS: 1? / 2? 9 / 3? 4, 7 / 8. He led all the way to win at Echuca early last month, then had no luck in a strong Bendigo affair and has since been transferred to young Kilmore trainer Sam Judd. ROAR TALENT (10) would win this in his best form. He’s won 5 of 18, two of those earlier this season, but didn’t put any heart into his finishing effort when sitting three back the pegs and struggling at his first run back from a spell – at Shepparton three weeks ago. Expect better. MYRNIONG GALAXY (6) showed gate speed when third to Island Storm at Maryborough three runs back and on that run, is good enough to have a chance here. VANTICE DAY (5) will be improved by a recent unplaced effort here when resuming and as the winner of two races earlier this season, is nicely graded. SELECTIONS: MIND YOUR STEP (3), Roar Talent (10), Myrniong Galaxy (6), Vantice Day (5). RATINGS: 3, 10 / 5, 6 / 1, 2. SUGGESTED BET: Quinella 3 and 10 and/or base your trifectas around the pair. She showed good early speed when working to the lead there and ran a fast 2:02.9 in beating SINGING CREEK (2). She’ll be even better for the experience. AFTANOONDELITE (10) ran a tough debut second in an APG heat at Maryborough, then galloped badly and put herself out of business in the final at Moonee Valley. She won a trial here last week and has strong claims here again if she trots all the way. Much the same can be said of talented stablemate DOTTIE HINSON (11), who won back- to-back races at Maryborough and Yarra Valley before galloping in a stand here last time. She ran third in that same trial last week. SINGING CREEK (2) is a consistent filly who’s won 3 of her last 7 with three placings. She followed that second at Shepparton to KYRELLANT (6) with a Bendigo fifth at her latest run when not put into the race from the second line draw. It will be different here from the good alley and with Gavin back in the bike. SASSY PINEVALE (3) is a handy filly who followed a win here with a luckless fourth at Bendigo last time and looks the other winning chance. 11 92110 DOTTIE HINSON 12 26455 CONTINENTALIZ 20 AFTANOONDELITE SUNSHOT Scratched Fr — Noel Shinn Fr 26.00 Lisa Miles Fr 4.00 David Miles Fr 4.00 Greg Sugars Fr 26.00 SELECTIONS: KYRELLANT (6), Aftanoondelite (10), Dottie Hinson (11), Singing Creek (2). He’ll be fitter for that run. WONT BE THE SAME (8) was the benefit of that horse’s mistake and went on to win that heat impressively after doing early work. There won’t be much between them once more. Warragul heat winner WRATH OF ROSIE (7) was on her best behaviour when finding the lead there and finishing well clear of her rivals. That trio look the winning chances with each way hopes to ITS LIGHTSCAMERACTION (1), TYRANNY OF FOUR (2), GLADYS EMANUEL (5) and IMSOCLASSY (9). He looks nicely suited from a good alley and with Alford in the sulky. DONTMAKEMELIKEIT (10) didn’t do much at his first three starts but looked good in his fast finishing Bendigo success recently and has strong each way claims. SOLAR OPERATIVE (11) came from this barrier when wide to the breeze and beating NEVERSAYDIE (7) here two starts back, then was caught off the track without cover when a luckless sixth at Bendigo at her latest run, a month ago. She looks nicely graded. NEVERSAYDIE (7) followed that placing here with a close third at Cobram, then made late ground from well back here last time. He looks better suited this time over the longer trip. DESPERATE BELIEVER (1), OUR SORENSTAM (4) and ADISTACTOS (5), who bobs up in occasions, are also in the mix. T1 Or Better Trotters RBD Stand Hutchy says: SI CAPISCO (7) is going through the classes nicely having won at three of his latest four outings, one of those the final at a strong country affair at the Valley. He was wide from the 1000 when outclassing them at Echuca last time but is gradually getting up in the grade and although the clear top pick here, is no standout. SIMPLY BETTOR (9) sat in the breeze to win at Echuca before a luckless Maryborough fifth, then found the lead and was too good for them at Cobram last week. The winner of 6 of 16, he also looks Moonee Valley bound. ENJOYABLE (12) made two moves and fought on strongly for his last start Maryborough victory over a gallant and improved MISTER JONAS (11). Next best are MAORI SUNSHINE (5), who would have finished second to Gluteus Maximus at Ballarat last week but for a late mistake; EARL CASTLETON (6), who has the ability but can make mistakes; and SUN SAMURAI (13), who came off this mark to win a good race at Mildura last week. He resumed from a Perth trip in November/December with a solid first up victory over Village Warrior (winner since) at the Valley, then led all the way and finished off in 56.8 to score nicely here a month ago at his latest run, where he took his record to 15 wins from 28 starts. He’s the class factor. Sydney visitor MAGIC OPERATIVE (2) has won 15 of 33 and comes off Menangle and Harold Park victories and a close second to the smart Very Cool at Dubbo a fortnight ago. He looks the leader and should run a bold race. EM MAGUANE (3) is a tough customer who’s won five of nine this term but hasn’t started since having no luck from a standing start back mark at Maryborough a month ago. In his best form he’d give this a mighty shake. The other quality runner here is ART TRADER (6), a tough Moonee Valley wide-to-the-breeze winner over Jaydens Castle two starts back (that runner up won at the Valley at his next start), and he certainly wasn’t disgraced when second after a tough trip at Echuca last time when narrowly beaten in fast time by Pacific Charm. He’ll be much fitter for that run and has strong prospects of an all the way victory. BAY TORRENT (8) is racing in career best form. She led all the way to win her fourth race of the season when scoring here three starts back, then was luckless in a strong mares race at the Valley before making a couple of moves and fighting on well for a close third to Pacific Charm at Echuca a fortnight ago. FRANKIE MAGUIRE (7) had the run of the race and loomed up to win but his lack of a run in the previous four weeks saw him fade late when fourth to Very Chic at Geelong last week. He’ll clean up nicely for that outing. SELECTIONS: MISTER VEEJAYS FELLA (2), Bay Torrent (8), Frankie Maguire (7), Lombo Hot Shot (9). RATINGS: 2 / 8 / 7 / 1, 3, 5, 9, 11. He draws much better this time and faces easier opposition. MASTER MASON (11) led all the way to win at Mildura before pulling too hard in a race at the Valley behind Renaissance Man last time. ROLLIN THUNDER (4) was resuming when making good late ground from the rear in that same Cobram affair behind On Any Day, will be improved and draws better. She led when cut down late by Villagem in 1:58.4 for this trip here three starts back, then disappointed at Maryborough before giving odds-on favourite Dazed And Confused a big fright when flashing home to be beaten a nose at Cranbourne last week after making two moves. JASPERTHAT (2) is a former Victorian who’s now trained by Neil Day at Goulburn. A three time winner this season, she’s run second recently in strong races at Dubbo when just failing to lead all the way and looks the likely leader again here. AND MAY I SAY (7) is a high quality Riverina trained mare who’s won 11 of 19 and 8 of 12 this season. She completed the hat trick with an all the way Dubbo victory a fortnight ago and although drawn wide, is a tough mare and sure to be in the finish. MASCARPONE (5) has raced well this season and looked good in her all the way Warragul victory over Mcgintysgoat a fortnight ago. DAVIDS LADY (1), QUEEN OF THE WORLD (3) and LOMBO SOCIALITE (6) are also handy young mares with each way claims. SELECTIONS: TAYARNA MIA (4), Jasperthat (2), And May I Say (7), Mascarpone (5). TRUMPETER (11) rarely runs a bad race and won his third race since coming here from New Zealand when leading all the way at Kilmore a fortnight ago. He’ll find it harder here from the second line but is a fit and talented racehorse. GOLDEN GRINDER (7) flashed home off a wide last lap trail when fourth to Mascarpone at Warragul last time and Alford is just the man to find this fellow a spot from the wide draw. REGALRAMAPLEASURE (4) led to win back-to-back races at Albury and Cobram before being cut down late at Echuca last time. He’ll be hard to run down. She’s resuming from a break but showed her readiness for this with an outstanding 1:57.5 trial win on this circuit recently. LAHAINI (6) has been luckless in four runs since winning at Kilmore early last month and looks a strong each way chance. MUSCLE BEACH (8) won the Breeders Crown 3YO series back in August but hasn’t really fired this term winning one of six and only battling in recent Harold Park runs. She’d go close at her best and draws to sit right behind this favourite.
