Herald Sun Form Guide : April 29th 2009
36 Herald Sun, Wednesday, April 29, 2009 + Charlton Sprint Lane: Yes Daily Double: 5, 7 Quaddie: 4, 5, 6, 7. TAB CODE P H TOUCHTONE 26 Second Line 8 69s58 STEELERS WHEEL 9 47627 ARE CEE DEE Craig’s call: MOIRA KITE (7) was driven aggressively to win at Echuca then followed with a victory at Cobram where she came from off the pace. She is a handy 3yo filly taking on the older maiden class so she looks perfectly placed here. ARE CEE DEE (9) pushed forward to race without cover and boxed on well for second to Polonis two starts back then had little luck at his latest seventh. He is a tough type and rates as an each way chance. SHOWBOAT CASEY (5) regularly places against this class and worked hard in the early stages when sixth last outing so she is worth a place ticket here. JADE EMPRESS (3) ran the best race of her career when she led and finished second at Echuca last outing. She might be able to find the lead again and is a minor place hope. FREEWAY JET (1) is a maiden from 37 attempts but hasn’t had much luck lately and is a place chance from the pole position. 10 46 BOHDANS CHANCE April Dean (C) Fr 21.00 Neil McCallum Fr 4.50 Leigh Sutton Fr 21.00 SELECTIONS: MOIRA KITE (7), Are Cee Dee (9), Showboat Casey (5), Jade Empress (3) RATINGS: 7/ 5,9/ 3/ 1/ 2,4,10 SUGGESTED BET: MOIRA KITE (7) to win 2 Yankee Dollar Trot 1.09 2570m. $5000. T0 Or Better Trotters RBD Stand Craig’s call: QUESTION THIS (7) is the class runner of the field and will find this assignment much easier than his latest tenth in a strong Super Series heat behind I Didn’t Do It where he broke stride in the latter stages. COST ME A QUID (10) hit the line nicely when second behind Joe Bro at Terang last outing and is worth thought on an each way basis. KELLYS NIPPA (8) makes his debut for trainer Peter Manning and is better than his form reads. He missed away last time and is capable of an improved effort here. BARNEYS INVASION (9) ran a huge race for third to Si Capisco at Echuca then struck trouble at Cranbourne last time. He can make mistakes on occasions but is a value hope if he delivers a foolproof display. JOLIE ODYSSEY (11) has plenty of ability but struggles to step away cleanly and KEYS TO THE UTE (2) is resuming since August but will be fitter for two recent trial efforts. He won a metropolitan bearing event at Harold Park three starts back so he should take beating against the claiming class. CLIONA LUCKY (9) raced out three wide for the last lap, hit the lead on the home turn and was run down by TROUBLE NO MORE (10) at Terang last outing. He came from last to win at Echuca prior and is a winning chance again. TROUBLE NO MORE (10) appreciated the drop into claiming grade when he won last time and should be competitive again. BULLANTIC (4) worked hard to lead, was pressured throughout the entire trip and kicked on strongly for a game second at Bendigo last outing. He has the fast beginner FOR GRANTED (2) drawn on his inside so he may not find the lead here but he is an each way hope again. PANNOSUS (10) finished hard when an eye-catching fourth behind Blyton Bromac at Moonee Valley last outing and looks to be a good each way bet. RHYS LIGHTNING (5) was resuming since November when he began quickly and beat an easier field at Horsham last outing. He is likely to go forward again from his front line draw and should give a bold showing. RARE TEMPTATION (4) failed to run on as expected when seventh at Moonee Valley (PANNOSUS (10) finished better) but is better than that effort suggests and is a possible improver. FRANKIEWHITEBOOTS (3) was never a threat to the winner Armbroosky but finished solidly for second at Maryborough last outing and is nearing a win against this class. He has had a few chances since a Horsham victory in February but this looks to be a suitable assignment. NICHOLAS WAY (7) is racing in great form and boxed on strongly behind the handy performer Ponchartrain at Horsham last outing. He is widely drawn over the short trip but is racing too well to dismiss. OUR SORENSTAM (10) ran a better race when she finished solidly for second to Great Southern Lad at Kilmore on Thursday. She places more often than she wins but rates as an each way chance here. PACE AVILLE (1) can sprint to the line quickly with the right trail forward so is perfectly drawn to trail the likely leader VILLAGE DEPUTY (4) and use the sprint lane. This race is of similar standard and he is capable of going one better. CRAVE (1) was unplaced for the first time in eight starts when he was shuffled back on the markers from an awkward draw in a heat of the Young Drivers Challenge. He finished strongly for third at Warragul prior and is much better drawn for this assignment. STUCK UP (11) trailed the leader and won easily at Charlton two starts back then followed with a third at Horsham. He has a good turn of speed and is worth an investment. JILLIBY BARTEL (6) beat a much easier line up last time but is a place hope along with FALCON DOORS (7) and VILLAGE OPERATOR (9). SOUND EDITION (8) (Safe And Sound – Apollo Blaze) is a first starter for trainer Linton Power, which is awkwardly drawn and has performed fairly in several Shepparton and Mooroopna trial performances. He led throughout to win at Echuca prior and should be prominent throughout from his good draw. MYSTIC CONQUEST (1) was beaten by KWIK AND LIVELY (2) at Echuca but her form prior was strong and she is perfectly drawn to trail the leader and use the sprint lane here. GOFORZOE (8) finished strongly despite running eighth (6m) at Shepparton on Thursday and should be competitive via the sprint lane from her trailing draw. REBECCA DON (6) came from well back and worked hard in the final circuit when seventh (4m) at Terang last outing. She has won 6 of her 13 starts for the season so she must be respected. QUEEN OF THE WORLD (10) is racing in career best form and had no luck behind KWIK AND LIVELY (2) at Echuca prior to finishing sixth in a strong Super Series heat last week. HAWAIIAN DAISY (11) and LOVE THIS LIFE (12) both are minor place hopes in the event. FLIGHTTONULLY (1) was beaten a long way after working hard at Maryborough but is a genuine sprinter and will be suited to using the passing lane. OPEN UP THE BANK (4) was placed behind Slatey Creek Road after leading three starts back and is a good chance of finding the lead again here. TAKE ME HOLM JACK (6) gets into this race nicely with a concession claim and took advantage of a hectic early tempo when he finished solidly for third in a claiming event at Bendigo a week ago. The field that he competes against here is easier to last week so he should be competitive. PRETTYLILANGELEYES (11) has done everything right in her two starts back from a break and finished third in the race won by Si Capisco last week. She can be a risky beginner at times but is a winning chance with a safe beginning. MACUENROAD (3) has been placed in two of his past four starts and was fifth in a strong Super Series heat last time so he is worth an investment. She ran a game race for third in a heat of the Northern Region Championship when three wide for the last 1200m prior and won a recent Kilmore standing start trial so she is worth another chance here. TEEJAY FELLA (5) ran a game race for third at his first run back from a break and followed with a Cobram victory when taking on similar opposition. He had no luck last time and looks well placed here. DAY IN LIEU (10) faces a tough handicap of 20m but is a standing start specialist and finished strongly for second to Casino Princess last outing. The New South Wales pacer LOVES TO SURF (6) was unplaced in two standing start events in the Hawskbury to Hunter series at Newcastle earlier in the season but has been placed in two of his past three starts so he must be respected. SHANGHI (1) followed some handy trial efforts with a strong debut second behind Mach And Me at Geelong where she raced on the outside of the leader throughout. She is better drawn now and should run a forward race again. ALONGTHEHIGHWAY (9) led and was beaten narrowly in a heat of the Gold Tiara then trailed the leader when third in the final. She disappointed at Wagga last time but is much better than that effort suggests. OUR SURFER GIRL (11) is still learning but has ability as evidenced by her latest fifth (5m) behind Fiery Exit (won again since) at Terang where she broke stride at the start. PJAYSPARTY (6) showed brilliant early speed to lead from the outside of the front line and won comfortably in a heat of the Young Drivers Challenge last week. This race is harder but he should find the lead again. GEMMA ROUGE (3) is a New South Wales pacer, which was beaten narrowly at Leeton prior to a second at Canberra. He was placed under the standing start conditions in the Warragul Cup last time and will take plenty of beating here. BEST OF TIMES (10) returns to Victoria after finishing a close sixth in the Renshaw Cup when taking on the open class at Penrith last week. He has the outstanding record of 15 wins from just 29 starts and will make his presence felt. AUBREY JAMES (7) just failed to run down Galveron in fast time when resuming from a break then scored narrowly against easier grade last time. He is widely drawn but has won five of his ten starts and looks to be a promising type. He is drawn to adopt his favourite role as the pacemaker here so is worth another chance. STRIKING THUNDER (7) is not as well drawn than his latest second where he led out then took a trail behind the eventual winner Just Callme Cullen but he will appreciate a big drop in class with the aid of a concession claim. GLOBAL VILLAGE (3) finished powerfully for an eye-catching second to Island Storm at Bendigo last week and is a winning chance if she gains the right trail forward. PONCHARTRAIN (8) is rising in class on his past two victories but has been very impressive and is capable of taking the next step forward. DOUGIE RAY (5) looks to have a bright future with five wins and two seconds to his credit from just seven starts. He is lifting in class from his latest victory but he dominated his rivals in that performance so he must be respected. JAYDENS CASTLE (3) is a fast beginner from the mobile and led throughout to win at Moonee Valley prior to scoring comfortably at Leeton. He is drawn to receive every chance so he is worth an investment. WHISKY AND ICE (8) was forced to work hard on the outside of the leader when seventh in the Northern Region Championship last outing. He won his heat of that series effortlessly and is worth a place ticket. Recent 1.56.8 victor FELLAFROM LOCKSLEY (2) and GUS WITHERSPOON (6) are rough place hopes in the event. She was unplaced in a strong Super Series heat last week and gets her chance to break through for a win in this much easier event. FOGNHAZE (3) was having her first run for two months when she worked hard and finished eighth at Cranbourne. She should be fitter for that performance and is a possible improver. PERFECT SHOT (9) finished nicely at his first run since August and should get a good trail through being drawn behind the fast beginner IMAGO (2). COUNTRY GUN (5) was beaten a long way last week but will appreciate a huge drop in class while EFFICIENT (6) produced a career best performance when a fast finishing third at Bendigo last week.
