48 Herald Sun, Friday, May 1, 2009 + Mildura Sprint Lane: No Daily Double: 5, 7 Quaddie: 4, 5, 6, 7. TAB CODE P H TOUCHTONE 26 1 Mildura Grand 2YO 1.19 2190m. $5000. 2YO 2A0 To 2A1 PBD Mobile 1 2 3 4 6 EGYPTIAN ART ANTSINYAPANTS 492 RONZEL MAX 747 THE LAST CRUSADER 5 47231 EQUITY CHIP 6 24162 MASTER MASON Second Line 7 8 Craig’s call: ANTSINYAPANTS (2) (Grinfromeartoear – Allsafe) is a Peter Tonkin trained debutante, which is ideally drawn and won a recent Maryborough trial (59.1 final 800m) so he looks hard to beat against this line up. RONZEL MAX (3) ran the best race of his short career when he sprinted sharply from last at the 650m, joined the leaders on the home turn and boxed on well for second to Cousin Christian at Stawell on Monday. A repeat performance will see him going close to winning here. MASTER MASON (6) was a winner at Mildura in March where he led throughout and chased hard before peaking on his run in the final 100m at his latest distant second behind Composed at Shepparton. He is widely drawn but should be competitive against this line up. EQUITY CHIP (5) followed a placed effort behind MASTER MASON (6) with an all of the way victory against easier grade at Nyah and looks to be a minor place hope in the event. THE LAST CRUSADER (4) might find this race to be easier than his past two efforts and is a possible improver in the event. SELECTIONS: ANTSINYAPANTS (2), Ronzel Max (3), Master Mason (6), Equity Chip (5) RATINGS: 2? 3/ 6/ 5/ 4 SUGGESTED BET: Flexi Trifecta 2,3,6/ 2,3,6/ 2,3,4,5,6 (Cost $20, which gives 111%) 53 LUKE THOMAS 47 FINEDROPOFRED Jack O’Bree Fr 21.00 Jason McGinty Fr 41.00 2 Mildura Info Cent. 1.54 1790m. $5000. 3yo 3A0 To 3A1 PBD Mobile 1 74347 TARLETON LEE 2 84461 AUSPICIOUSOCCASION 3 4s658 CRAIGMOR PRINCE 4 s5552 SITA KHAN 5 13284 PASSCHENDAELE 6 82664 TRINITA ROAD Second Line 7 75s11 ORTAROCK 8 68037 SPY OR DIE 9 47181 BROWN SPIDERMAN 10 77s64 GEORGES LAD Greg Cramp Fr 8.00 Daryl Douglas Fr 4.00 Craig Northcott Fr 34.00 Leigh Sutton Fr 10.00 Steven Duffy Fr 6.00 Luke Watson Fr 8.00 Michael Smith Fr ?3.70 Kylie Hughes Fr 34.00 Sally Hardy (C) Fr 5.00 Melinda Smith Fr 26.00 11 987 GEORGIE MOREAU (Em1) Daryl Weightman Fr Craig’s call: TARLETON LEE (1) ran a strong race behind Doutzen at his local debut then finished unplaced in both heat and final of the Mildura Guineas during the Cup Carnival. This race is much easier and he is drawn to go close. ORTAROCK (7) remains undefeated in two starts for trainer Michael Smith and defeated the smart filly Clarenden Serene on April 06 so she must be respected. SITA KHAN (4) followed a fifth behind the top filly Ay Tee Em with an unlucky second at Nyah so she is not without a chance. AUSPICIOUSOCCASION (2) ran the best race of her career when she trailed the leader Paddy Moreau and got up to beat that pacer right on the post at Nyah on Sunday. This race is tougher but she is improving with every start. PASSCHENDAELE (5) came from a long way back and picked up some ground at Nyah last outing so is worth a place ticket. TRINITA ROAD (6) is poorly drawn but is a fast beginner and is a winning hope if he can find the lead in the early stages of the event. SELECTIONS: TARLETON LEE (1), Ortarock (7), Sita Khan (4), Auspiciousoccasion (2) RATINGS: 1,7/ 2,4/ 5,6/ 9 SUGGESTED BET: Flexi Roving Trifecta with 1 & 7 the rovers into 2,4,5,6,9 (Cost $20, which gives 66.66%) 3 Gurry & Associates 2.29 2190m. $5500. C8 Or Better PBD Mobile 1 47146 UNIQUE STYLE 2 78s60 JATE JUNIOR Craig’s call: It is only a small field but it should be an entertaining race with a field that is up to metropolitan standard engaged. CHRISTIANS DAUGHTER (3) is a brilliant beginner from the mobile and is the likely leader but she does seem to race best over the sprint distance. She is likely to cop plenty of pressure from KING CAESAR (6), which also races best in front. He was resuming since January when he worked extremely hard to lead in a free for all on Mildura Cup night and he should run an improved race here. UNIQUE STYLE (1) won the Port Pirie Cup three starts and finished fourth (5m) behind the Mildura Cup winner Bold Cruiser at Moonee Valley in March so he should be competitive in this event. TRUE BOBBY (5) gained the perfect trip but only missed out narrowly last time and JATE JUNIOR (2) began ordinarily when unplaced at his second attempt of winning a Mildura Cup. There are several fast beginners drawn on her outside but she should prove hard to beat again. ELYSEES CREST (4) is a good mare, which was placed in the Port Pirie Cup two starts back. She ran a game race for second to Heathbern Diamond at her latest Mildura attempt and is capable of going on better here. The query runner of the race is the Glenn Douglas trained OHBEOPERATIVE (8), which hasn’t started since June. He won a race at Mildura in May and has a good strike rate so he must be kept safe. ALBERTA VANCE (3) is a brilliant beginner from the mobile and is better than her form reads with her past two unplaced efforts coming in hard grade during the Mildura Cup Carnival. RONZEL SQUATTER (6) has the ability to feature prominently but will need luck from his wide draw on the front line. He was held up for a run at a vital stage and finished hard first up then tried to lead throughout behind Kalypson Kid in the Mark Gurry & Associates Cup. CAMPBELL WALLACE (2) worked hard and went down fighting in the Robinvale Cup at Nyah last week. He is ideally drawn and has built up a terrific record since joining trainer Greg Cramp. CRUZHEDOZ (1) ran his best race since coming from New Zealand when he trailed the leader, was held up momentarily on the home turn and used the sprint lane to victory. He is ideally drawn and should go close again. BREENYS TROUBLE (4) is resuming since August but performed nicely in a recent Geelong trial where he finished nicely for third in a final half of 58.6 seconds. GALVIN STREET (9) dashed home in a fast final half to win first up for trainer Boris Devcic and PACIFIC SHUFFLE (8) is a minor place hope in the event. He hasn’t trialled since February but he beat home Melpark Major and Diamonds N Furs in that effort so he is certainly the class runner of the field. HEATHBERN DIAMOND (4) is much better drawn than his past two efforts in the Mark Gurry & Associates Cup series and led throughout to win in fast time in a metropolitan bearing event at Harold Park prior. He has the fast beginner PANORAMA DRIVE (1) drawn on his inside but he looks to be the main danger to MAFFIOSO (10). PANORAMA DRIVE (1) has won three of his past five starts and is drawn to receive every chance so is worth a place ticket. LOADED MIND (7) is a minor place hope by following inside runs throughout. SELECTIONS: MAFFIOSO (10), Heathbern Diamond (4), Panorama Drive (1), Loaded Mind (7) RATINGS: 10/ 4/ 1/ 7/ 3 SUGGESTED BET: Flexi Trifecta 4,10/ 1,4,10/ 1,3,4,7,10 (Cost $20, which gives 166%) Sally Hardy (C) Fr 51.00 7 Mallee Bearings 4.58 2190m. $5000. He gets a 10m lift with a concession claim and should prove hard to beat. BIG GAME (9) is a tough type and usually begins fast from the standing start so he rates as an each way chance. MYRNIONG ASTRO (1) is capable of sprinting to the line strongly with the right trail forward so looks ideally placed from the pole position. ARUN PARK (5) raced out three wide for the final 700m when he won at Mildura two starts back and is a winning chance if he delivers a foolproof display. THE BEST SOUND (13) faces a tough handicap of 20m but led throughout to win a heat of the Qantaslink series then was unplaced in the final during the Mildura Cup Carnival so he is likely to find this assignment easier. The interesting runner of the event is MASTER WES (11), a former New South Wales pacer, which is making his local debut for trainer Frank Cavallaro but has been unplaced in several Shepparton and Mildura trial efforts. HARDCOVER (10) dropped out to last from a wide draw and obtained an inside run when a fast finishing second to Matai Cullen last outing. He is awkwardly drawn but is nearing a win against this class. BUBBLE WRAP (6) is racing well and with the withdrawal of It Happens A Lot, rates as an each way chance. RISKETELLI (3) (Pacific Fella – Blazing Afire) is a first starter for trainer Alfio Grasso, which won a recent Mildura trial in slow time. Should find an easier lead tonight and isn’t far away from a win. CANDYS PRINCE (9) chocked down last week, but should not be dismissed here. A definite hope. BARE KNUCKLE (6) closed strong last start after getting a run late. He’s racing well and must be considered. BLUEY MAHONEY (8) is drawn awkwardly, but can reel off a fast last section and should not be taken lightly. SURFING STAR (9) is racing in career best form, but is up in class tonight.
