This looks a big drop in grade and he’s definitely the one to beat. RAISE AN EYEBROW (6) won a similar race to this at Bendigo back in November and raced well after that before a disappointing last start effort at Geelong three months ago where he led and weakened. A recent Bacchus Marsh trial winner, he returns into a winnable race. HILTON GEMMA (5) handed up the lead, then used the sprint lane when narrowly beaten by Ultimate Image here two starts back, then was travelling well when held up and making a mistake at a vital stage at Ballarat last time. Rate her highly. STAR OF JORDAINE (1) is an honest ex-Kiwi who won at Geelong in March and has been placed in three of her latest four starts. She’ll find this easier than when third at Kilmore at her latest run. GOLDEN WAHINE (7) has found her best form of late with excellent and tough Echuca and Bendigo victories sandwiching an Echuca failure where she was knocked down early. She’s strong and will be doing her best work at the finish. SPORTS FANTASY (8), LETS ENJOY (9), AMEDON (10) and WARRAROONG GIRL (11) are also in the mix. RATINGS: 3 / 6? / 5 / 1 / 9, 10, 11 / 8. Rate her highly. WOODLEA FIRE (2) is a Dean Braun trained ex-Kiwi who was wide to the breeze and weakened at his first run for eight months, when sixth to Hyland Zali at Terang a fortnight ago . He meets easier opposition this time, will be fitter and has the draw. OARSOME RHYS (1) led and walked them when beating moderates easily at Terang last time and is nicely suited from the draw in this stronger race. TCEESAFLYN (8) won a similar race to this at Yarra Valley in February, then was placed behind Coastal and Garnet River in a hot Moonee Valley daytime affair before failing at his latest three outings. He’s been freshened and comes off an impressive trial victory here last weekend. STARRY STARRY BABY (3) won her third race for the season when coming from behind to score at Geelong in March, then was placed there before going off the boil. She wasn’t disgraced here last time when making late ground and drops to a winnable level. The other winning chance belongs to BRIALINGER BOY (5), who was runner up here to the smart Sterlish, then second at Warragul before leading all the way to score narrowly here last time. RATINGS: 4? / 2? / 1 / 3, 8 / 5. He led from a wide gate when scoring a Moonee Valley day win back in February, then ran third from the second line and death seat to Trumpeter at Kilmore before missing away in consecutive standing start affairs. Drawn awkwardly on the second line at his latest run, he made late ground for sixth at a recent Moonee Valley day meeting, and a return to the front line and drop in grade are just what he’s been looking for. PARTYWITHTHEDEVIL (7) turned around some ordinary form with a fast finishing third to The Tribunal at Ballarat last weekend where he came from miles back on the home turn. He won’t be far off them this time in the small field and has strong claims. FLIGHTTONULLY (4) went poorly when a Maryborough failure a fortnight ago before benefiting from a solid pace and soft trip to win at Charlton during the week. She’s a handy mare with each way claims. LOTASILKARI (1) handed up to Sterlish when chasing home into second place behind that talented performer here a fortnight ago, then found the pace too hot in a stronger race at Yarra Valley last time. A fast beginner, she’ll use this draw to perfection. INSANE JANE (3) was resuming from a short break when a solid second at Kilmore at her latest start and looks next best, with chances also to recent Bendigo winner CELEVALE LOMBO (2), who’s disappointed twice since: and the recently out of form DELIGHTFUL SOKY (5), who’s better than her formline suggests. RATINGS: 6 / 7 / 1, 4 / 3 / 2, 5. SUGGESTED BET: KOH SAMUI (6) to win. He beat subsequent Moonee Valley winner Flying Indi Air at Kilmore then had no luck there at his next run, then showed blistering early speed from the widest alley when just failing to cross, then taking the one-one, before popping out at the 400 and getting up for an impressive last start victory on this circuit a fortnight ago. That gate speed and the good alley should see him straight in front this time, and whatever beats him will win. The clear second pick here is COUNT OF ROWAN (9), an ex-Kiwi who won twice in Tasmania last month when first coming here, then led when cut down late by handy youngster Kid Coconut at Yarra Valley eight days ago. AYU GYPSY (4) led all the way from gate six to win at Warragul then was held up in a race at Geelong before finishing down the track when outclassed in a Victoria Oaks heat at Ballarat last time. This should suit. A FALCON CAN (6) is a talented three year old who won three on end, all at Ballarat, before leading when a disappointing third as a $1.30 favourite at Shepparton early last month, then only plodded at Geelong last time. In his best form, he’d probably beat these. The only danger to that quartet of talented three year olds is SMALLBOYINTHECROWD (5), who was a big improver when sitting in the breeze outside Brialinger Boy and narrowly beaten by that fellow here a fortnight ago. He won a trial here last weekend and completes quintet of winning chances. RATINGS: 1 / 9 / 4, 6 / 5. Prior to that, she won the final of the Eureka series beating Hyland Zali who won at her next start. VILLAGEM (5) is a talented three year old who’s won four races this season. He followed a wide-to-the- breeze victory here three starts back with a fast 1:58.4 Shepparton success when driven in similar fashion, then had no luck in the Australian Derby at Launceston last time. He looks the main danger to this favourite. MASCARPONE (3) won her second race for the season when leading all the way to beat Mcgintysgoat at Warragul two starts back, then sat in the one-one when an honest fifth in a 4YO Super Sires heat at Shepparton last time. MISTER BALLYMURPHY (9) won back-to-back races at Geelong back in September/October before going for a spell. A heavily supported favourite when resuming at Geelong in March, he didn’t do much, and wasn’t seen again until last week at Yarra Valley where he was badly shut in and mid-field behind Sterlish. In his best form he rates well against these. Place chances at least to ex- Kiwi KAKA POINT ROCK (8), who didn’t fire in Australian debut back in January; and COASTAL CRUISER (10), a recent Warragul winner who ran a big race last week when wide in the last lap and third to Sterlish at Yarra Valley. He was wide to the top at the 800 when winning nicely here a month ago, then ran third in a heat of the Carousel to eventual final winner Trusty Courage at Menangle a fortnight ago, where he battled on nicely when wide in a 27.7 last split. Stablemate MISTER VEEJAYS FELLA (4) won back-to-back races at Globe Derby in January and since resuming, was favourite and beaten narrowly here by Shoot The Dice before an honest third from the trail to Bay Torrent in a stronger race than this at Kilmore nine days ago. POCKET LEGEND (7) is racing in career best form. He scored well here five starts back and comes off a hat trick of placings on this circuit, the most recent a month ago when showing gate speed then taking a trail for a close third to Shoot The Dice and MISTER VEEJAYS FELLA (4). He trialled well here last weekend. MISTER CLINTON (3) did plenty of work in the run when winning a moderate claimer at Bendigo last time and appears to be the only other winning chance. He sat in the breeze to beat subsequent Moonee Valley winner Smoken Joker at Kilmore in March, found the lead when beating Albert Jaccka and subsequent MV winner Pacific Charm there later that month, then was having his first run for three weeks when an all the way Moonee Valley day time winner a fortnight ago. He draws the second line this time but that shouldn’t trouble him as he has an excellent sprint, and can get around them mid-race if need be. MISTER RHYS (7) flew out from a wide alley when beating Totally Oro (winner at MV since), at Ballarat a month ago, then led when third to talented performers Gilt Bromac and Whipair at Horsham at his latest run. He sharpened for this with an easy Maryborough trial win last weekend. CHARLEYS DREAM (6) is a now five year old gelding who’s won 12 of 39. He won four races earlier this season, then lost form and hasn’t been seen since a Bendigo failure in December, but looked good in his defeat of Pocket Legend in a recent trial here. BELOKA DIAMOND (1) is a consistent mare who had every chance when fourth to stablemate Pacific Charm in strong company at the Valley last weekend and will appreciate this drop in grade. She has an excellent each way chance. Best of the others is TRANQUIL ODYSSEY (3), who ran third at Geelong to Kalypson Kid before running into traffic behind Jazzam at the Valley last week.
