He was never a factor from the second line at Cranbourne last time but meets beatable opposition here and rates as the top pick. FASHION TOWN (9) ran a big race when third to Kid Coconut and COUNT OF ROWAN NZ (7) at Yarra Valley where he worked hard in the breeze and fought on well for second in a Valley day affair last time. He’s only had three runs and shapes as a likely type. BOAB BABE (2) is a Leeton trained mare who was favourite from the outside of the second line at Wagga last week when off the track in the final circuit and hitting the line well for second. She gets her first front line draw in ages. THE GOLDEN LORD (6) was having his second run back when showing good gate speed to beat all but Jetshawjoe at Cobram last Monday and looks ready to break his maiden status at start number nine. Trotter LOVER OR LOSER NZ (1) was hammered in the lead and battled on okay when sixth at Bendigo last time and has claims here as the possible leader. Each way chances to LUCKNOW LADY (5) and KING HIGH NZ (12). The first starter is JAYLETS FURY (11) (Bad Bert - Kotare Fury), a Graeme Bickerdike trained four-year-old gelding whose dam won 19 races but has only produced two moderate winners from eight previous foals. Ratings: 7 / 9 / 2 / 6 / 1, 12 / 5. Suggested bet: COUNT OF ROWAN NZ (7) to win. 2 Campbells V8 Pace 7.00 2190m. $5000. He showed gate speed and made a couple of moves when a close fourth to Tear It All Away in a strong Super Sires affair at Bendigo a fortnight ago, looks ready to win, has the draw and will find this a lot easier. GIVEUSACHANCE NZ (8) ran an improved race when working hard early and third to Becada Star over the mile in a Valley day meeting recently, then was unplaced when outclassed there last weekend. This is more her speed. RUN FLOYD RUN (6) has won three races this season and at his second run from a break finished well for second to the talented Sterlish at Yarra Valley three weeks ago before a luckless Super Sires heat sixth to Secret Tender at Bendigo last time. This looks an ideal race for him. GLOBAL VILLAGE (4) hasn’t been far away in stronger races of late and also has claims, as does last start death seat Bendigo winner HAVA FROTHY (7), in fact they can all win. Ratings: 3 / 8 / 3 / 8 / 6 / 4, 7 / 5 / 1, 2. She ran third to Ima Spicey Lombo in the Queensland Oaks in March, then found trouble behind Captain Joy in the Queensland Derby, before returning home for a tough wide-to-the-breeze easy Kilmore success five weeks ago. She followed with a death seat Vic Oaks heat fifth at Ballarat then flashed home late when second in the final at the Valley three weeks ago. CASINO PRINCESS (2) looks the only danger. A speedy filly who loves to lead, she comes off fast all the way standing start wins at Bendigo, and at a Moonee Valley day meeting ten days ago. GEMMA ROUGE (5) hasn’t finished further back than second at her last six runs, winning three of them. She took a sit when running down PJ’sparty here three starts back, then led when cut down late at Echuca, before finishing powerfully for an easy Canberra success last Monday. PACIFIC JOURNEY (1), BLITZEM LASS (3) and SAGUARO (6) all have trifecta claims. Ratings: 4 / 2 / 5 / 1, 3, 6. Suggested bet: Key trifecta: 4 to win, from 1, 2, 3, 5, 6. She ran a bold race when held up and fourth to Howards Dilemma in a Semi-final of the Super Sires at the Valley a fortnight ago, then was one of the few horses to make ground from the back when sixth behind Wyperfeld in last week’s final. Whatever beats her will win. ISLAND STORM (9) won his fourth race for the season when scoring at Bendigo three starts back, then was luckless on that circuit before an outstanding second over the mile in 1:56.2 at Cobram last Monday, when wide until finding the breeze at the 850. TIPPEDINTOOMUCH (6) won at Bendigo then ran fifth at Kilmore before a Launceston second and a tough Devonport death-seat victory at his latest run. He’s always competitive at this level and has a great each way chance. MISTER BALLYMURPHY NZ (3) is better than his formline suggests and looks nicely suited at his third run back from a long spell. Once again, in an open race every runner has a winning chance. Ratings: 5 / 9 / 3, 6 / 1, 2, 4, 7 / 8. Suggested bet: LADY OCTAVIA (5) to win. 5 Campbells Condensed Soup 8.30 1690m. $5000. She ran a brave second to Sunrose Mary at Kilmore last time and has shown good improvement this season, and the engagement of Daryl Douglas is a big plus. BRULEA CHARLIE (11) had fair form earlier this season but hasn’t started since finishing fifth in a Bendigo stand in January. He’s run good time in winning two recent Mooroopna trials, one of them beating fast class pacer Baltic Ice, and on that effort would be right in this. Best of the front line brigade is THE STARGLASSCUTTER (3), a dual winner earlier this season who resumed from a break with an honest third at Echuca ten days ago. JORDANGARRY (6) went nicely when sixth to Our Sir Jeckyl in a fast Super Sires heat here recently, then made late ground from miles back when fifth at Cranbourne last week. He’s on the improve. Chances also to LORIELLE PARIS (1), RUNACULLEN (9) and AQUATIC BELLE (10). Ratings: 12 / 3, 6, 11 / 1, 9, 10. Suggested bet: Multi, flexi roving banker trifecta: 12 with the field. If he goes around trouble free, he’ll be hard to beat. TENDER DON (2) led all the way to score easily at Kilmore two starts back before finding the pace a bit hot in a Super Sires heat behind Lord Of The Gym at Geelong last week. He’s been doing well from the stand this time in and will be mighty hard to catch. HEZA HERO (10) ran a brave third to Joe Bro in a hot Moonee Valley affair last weekend and will appreciate the drop in class, albeit going back 20 metres. IM VICTOR TRUMPER NZ (1) is an ex-Kiwi who won at Forbury Park back in December and looked good at his first Aussie start at Cobram last Monday, where he led and was touched off late. That was from 10 metres and he will appreciate the front line even better. TWOTTER FUD (6) wasn’t disgraced when resuming in a strong Super Sires race at Geelong last week and has claims along with GOLDEN WAHINE (8), who beat subsequent winner Puerto Bonus at Bendigo before making a mistake at Cranbourne last time. KYVALLEY MIRAGE NZ (12), who ran second in a Moonee Valley day affair before making a mistake behind Joe Bro at Maryborough last time looks the other winning chance. He followed a hat-trick of wins at Echuca, West Wyalong and Wagga with an outstanding third to Bullee Bullee from the second line at the Valley a fortnight ago where he sat three wide most of the way and fought on doggedly, then led all the way for an effortless win at Parkes on Wednesday night. From this draw he should be in or near the lead and hard to beat. CAPTIAN CULLEN NZ (6) won his sixth race for the season when overcoming a wide trip to beat Waiona at the Valley in March, then didn’t have much luck in a Tasmanian visit where he raced in the top class. He resumes into a winnable race off a break of five weeks. BARACHIAS (9) ran third to CAPTIAN CULLEN NZ (6) at Maryborough in February then was wide and fourth at the Valley before finishing third to Im Mark Antony in a high quality Ballarat affair at his latest run, ten weeks ago. The Lance Justice stable is in form and this fellow has a touch of quality about him. WANDANAS BIG BOOTS (1) must go into trifectas as he is an honest gelding with a good draw. Best of the others may be handy Lance Justice trained mare TRANQUIL ODYSSEY (5), who ran a brave Cranbourne second to Justcallme Cullen before running into traffic at the Valley last weekend. STUNNING BIRD (5) is a top South Australian filly who has won 10 of 21. She has been given a short break since a couple of lacklustre Globe Derby efforts in March and looks nicely suited at this level. AYU GYPSY (1) is an honest filly who can fill a place while OTAGO JAC (6), who has been racing well in NSW, is another for trifectas. Ratings: 3 / 5 / 1, 6.
