A more than handy three year old, he’s won twice this season with six placings, the latest of those when working hard to the breeze mid-race and a tough second to Staghorn Flat in a Super Sires heat at Bendigo a fortnight ago. TAB ONE (1) won twice as a juvenile and this season as a three year old has won two of nine. He beat Coastal in a strong Moonee Valley daytime affair back in December and ran second to Ponchartrain at Geelong in January. This is his first start since a failure in the Geelong Guineas back in February but he’s trialled well for his return and has the draw. AYU GYPSY (4) is a dual winning three year old filly this season who ran third in a Super Sires heat at Shepparton and finished mid-field in a Semi- final of that series at the Valley a fortnight ago. She’ll appreciate the drop to CO level. That trio of three year olds should dominate the race. RATINGS: 11 / 1 / 4. SIERRA TANGO (12) has been a big improver of late with a fast finishing sprint lane victory here three starts back, a close second to handy performer Life Boat on this circuit, and a last start Geelong victory where she finished powerfully. The draw isn’t anything to write home about but she’s fit and in career best form. ROBBOS RETREAT (5) has been runner up at his latest three outings. He had the run of the race when second in fast time to Kalahari Prince in a Moonee Valley day affair, then ran a solid race behind Camivell Rock in 1:58.9 for this trip at Geelong before having the run of the race when favourite and second to Four Wise Men at Ballarat last weekend. SCOTATTITUDE (10) was resuming and most impressive when scoring at Kilmore a fortnight ago and will be much fitter here for this harder race. ULTIMA CHANCE (1) finished off last season with back-to-back wins at Geelong and Ballarat and was well in the betting at his first run for nine months when he led and weakened to last at Ballarat last week. Expect better. RICH PICKINGS (9) was wide in the last lap when a gallant second to Brutus Smith at Warragul last week and completes a quintet of top winning chances. Each way claims to improving filly ROCKN KATIE (2); BIG MAJORITY (6), who hasn’t had much luck lately; KNIGHT CRUSADER (7), a dual winner who resumes off a Maryborough trial win; and BRATSKI (8), who was placed at Maryborough and Horsham before failing in a hot Super Sires affair at Yarra Valley last time. RATINGS: 5, 12 / 10 / 1, 9 / 2, 6, 7, 8. Handy youngster THE COURAGE WITHIN (6) was badly away at his only standing start try but has strong claims with a clean beginning. A dual winner on this circuit in April/early May, he’s run some nice races recently at the top level and was luckless and making late ground when unplaced behind Villagem in a Super Sires 3YO Semi final at Moonee Valley last weekend. BOY FROM IPANEMA (2) has standing start ability and looks well graded on his three wins this season as a three year old. He was outclassed but not disgraced in a Super Sires heat at Bendigo last time and looks much better off here from the good alley. LETS GO OLLIE (8), who resumes, has never started in a stand, has won two of three since coming to Australia, the latest of those when leading all the way to beat top performer Stumpem at Maryborough last November. He’s been trialling okay and gets Gavin. Likewise YOU TWO BONO (3) is a maiden from the stand but he must be rated highly here on his excellent fast finishing victory on this circuit a fortnight ago at his first start for nearly a year. KING HIGH (1) sat in the breeze for an impressive standing start success at Maryborough last time and looks the other main winning chance, with rough hopes to the other three runners. TENDER DON (4) has shown good aptitude for the stand this season with recent all the way victories at Kilmore, and here a fortnight ago where he cleared out to win by a big space. If he jumps in front, they may not catch him. SPORTS FANTASY (10) is racing in career best form. At his third run from a spell, he was wide in the last lap when an impressive Maryborough winner a month ago, then fought on well to beat all but King Kipper from the breeze in a Maryborough mobile a week ago. JUSTACHANDON (1) had the run of the race and held off a late challenge from the in-form Kellys Nippa to win nicely at Ballarat last time and draws for a repeat performance. QUESTION THIS (9) won a Charlton stand, then finished second in a four year old Super Sires heat from the mobile to Lord Of The Gym at Geelong before a luckless and fast finishing second to last week’s Moonee Valley winner Maori Sunshine at Bendigo at his latest outing. Rate him highly. REGAL VOLO USA (11) had the run of the race when flashing home to score nicely at Ballarat last weekend and is always a chance at this level. Ex-Kiwi TAISON (6) was a good winner here at his Australian debut a month ago, then finished third to TENDER DON (4) here at his latest outing. He has each way claims along with, to a lesser extent, TIGER TUFF (5), who has talent but doesn’t always show it; and OLLIE NOVA (13), who was in good form before disappointing at his latest two outings when beginning badly. RATINGS: 4 / 9, 10 / 1, 11 / 6 / 5, 13. SUGGESTED BET: Flexi box trifecta 1, 4, 6, 9, 10, 11. $30.00 gets you 25% SPRINT LANE OPERATES 4 Hyde Cooper Wells Account. 8.00 1609m. $5000. SAM RAE (1) scored her first win for the season when coming from well back to beat a strong field at Geelong three weeks ago and has since trialled okay. She draws perfectly for a sprint race and is sure to be in the finish. IMPRESSIVEPRINCESS (8) hasn’t had much luck from awkward barriers since an all the way Moonee Valley daytime success three weeks ago. She draws to trail the early speed and looks a definite sprint lane threat. YMBRO COCO (3) has been forced to do it tough in the breeze at each of her latest three starts, resulting in third placings at Geelong, Yarra Valley and Warragul. She’s due a change of luck. Each way chances to LADY TORRENCE (2), a Moonee Valley daytime winner in February who’ll be fitter for a first up Terang fifth; WESTERN CONNECTION (9), who ran a close second from the trail at Warragul last week; and FLIGHTTONULLY (10), a three time winner this season who was wide mid-race when a tough third at Warragul. ARMBRO SAFEKEEPING (4) and ARMBRO IRIS (7) are also in the mix. RATINGS: 1, 5 / 8 / 3 / 2, 9, 10 / 4, 7. He worked hard to lead when beaten narrowly by Em Maguane at the Valley three starts back, then sat in the breeze for a tough Bendigo victory before having no luck and running home quickly at the business end (56.3 home) when third to Mystical Warrior in fast time at Bendigo a fortnight ago. He draws to trail out the early speed. The query runner is THE GUNSTAR (4), a former top youngster who’s won 10 of 55 but hasn’t scored since beating Veranjee here 14 months ago. His four runs this season have been average, but he joins the in-form Dean Braun stable for whom he’s been trialling well. CHARLEYS DREAM (7) ran a tough race when wide to the breeze and second to Bullee Bullee in a fast and classy Moonee Valley affair before finishing fourth when driven similarly behind Our Malabar in a blistering 1:56.5 for this trip at Maryborough last time. He’s racing tough but the draw won’t help him. PRINCESS DILINGER (2) finished well from the rear when a first up third at Ballarat nine days ago before surprisingly handing up the lead when a close fifth to Mr Clancy at Kilmore last Monday. Usually a bold front runner, if she can find the lead she’ll give them something to catch. Each way chances to honest mare BELOKA DIAMOND (3), who comes off seconds at Shepparton to Barachias and in a Moonee Valley stand last week to Village Warrior; and LANDSCAPE (5), who’s been off his game recently but has the talent to win this when right. ARATUSA LASS (1) has the ability but hasn’t started since a Globe Derby failure five months ago. RATINGS: 9 / 4? 7 / 2 / 3, 5 / 1? She was second up when finishing hard to be runner-up in a fast Ballarat sprint affair a fortnight ago, then did a heap of work when wide to eventually find the lead at the bell and finishing a close fourth at Maryborough nine days ago. She’s a handy mare who should now be fully wound up and has the draw against beatable opposition. GYPSY FRANCO (6) worked hard in the breeze when beating Paris Angel at Ballarat three starts back, then was a disappointing fourth when favourite at Bendigo before having the run of the race and out-battling Dance With Armbro to score in fast time here at the latest meeting. She’s won five of eight this season and looks nicely suited. RUN FLOYD RUN (1) is an honest four year old who won three races earlier this season. He’s been improved by recent racing and comes off a luckless Shepparton third and a close third to GYPSY FRANCO (6) on this circuit. This is by far his best draw for ages. MAZARAHTI (2) led all the way for an easy and fast Maryborough victory before amazingly handing up the lead to Melbournian at Bendigo last Sunday night, finishing a two metre second to that fellow at the end of a 56.6 last half. Brian Gath jumps on board here and is sure to drive him more aggressively. CHRISP (7) has hit a purple patch in recent times with fast finishing victories at Geelong, here, and at Maryborough last week when flashing home from near last on the home turn to beat Wya Mya Macray. This looks a harder race but she shouldn’t be left out of calculations. Best of the others is the in-form GALVERON (8), who likes to lead or race near the lead but isn’t well suited from the trailing draw, with place claims at least to last start fast finishing Terang winner LEON PHELPS (4) and SLICK LAVRA (11), who’ll be improved by a luckless effort at Maryborough last week - her first run for a month. RATINGS: 3 / 1, 2, 6 / 7 / 8 / 4, 11. A headstrong colt, he ran a nice race when flashing home for a first up third at Yarra Valley six weeks ago, then made a mistake and weakened after a tough trip in a Moonee Valley day time stand at his latest start. He’s since rated 2:02.5 to win a Geelong trial and looks the class runner against these. OUTMUSCLE (12) is an ex-Kiwi who had form against some top youngsters in his homeland. At his only Australian run, he was an impressive Shepparton winner back in January and is resuming here from the extreme draw. MAORI VACATION (4) didn’t have much go her way before running home nicely for third to DOCTOR SAM (8) on debut at Kilmore three weeks ago. A half sister to champion mare Sumthingaboutmaori, she has obvious ability and will benefit greatly from her first start experience. DOCTOR SAM (8) covered ground when winning a Kilmore mobile two starts back, then battled home well when second to top youngster Down Under Muscles here at the latest meeting. He has each way claims along with honest gelding SANTO DOMINGO (2); MY GIRL SUNNY (5), who’s shown up in recent runs; KIRLSLY KEPT (7), who went okay when resuming at Maryborough during the week; and MY MATE CLAUDY (9), who’s been placed in one of three and been trialling well for his return. The first starter is DESERT WIND (10) (Wind Cries Maori – Precarious), a John Kelly trained colt who hasn’t really shown up at the trials. RATINGS: 11 / 12? / 4, 8 / 2, 5, 9? / 7.
