She hasn’t started since a Yarra Valley failure last September but resumes against beatable opposition off handy back-to-back seconds in recent Geelong trials and looks the one to beat. MASTER VISION (8) won a restricted race on debut at Geelong in April and has since run a hat trick of placings, twice at Cranbourne and then when leading and cut down late here a fortnight ago. He looks the other major winning chance. GORDONS VILLE (3), who was placed at Terang in March from only seven runs, made late ground for fourth here at the latest meeting and seems to be on the improve. SMALLBOYINTHECROWD (4) has been runner up recently at Cranbourne and Yarra Valley and comes off an unplaced effort when weakening from the breeze in stronger company than this at Cranbourne a fortnight ago. SELECTIONS: SMART AND MIGHTY (6), Master Vision (8), Gordons Ville (3), Smallboyinthecrowd (4). RATINGS: 6 / 8 / 3, 4 / 5, 7. It’ll be harder here from the extreme draw but she’s definitely the top pick of the four raced performers. In a race dominated, numberswise, by first starters PALAIS DU LOUVRE (6) looks perhaps the pick of that bunch. A Lee Miles trained Safe And Sound – The Perfect Mona gelding, he’s recently won back- to-back trials at Kilmore, the latest beating smart filly Revivalist. GRINS RENDITION (8) (Grinfromtoeartoear – Bellora Reign) is a Ron Comben trained gelding who beat three year old Smart And Mighty in a recent Geelong trial and has obvious ability. Next best of the debutantes is UNSINKABLE BOXER (7) (Mach Three – Girl Interrupted), a Merv Williamson trained gelding who also recently won a Geelong trial. The other first starters are RHONDA RUDE (2) (Denver Gift – Able Lynne), a Paul Tonkin trained filly who’s related to ten winners; BONNIES BABE (3) (Newk Of Earl – Bonnie Maori), a Julian Attard trained filly whose two winning siblings were squaregaiters; and ELLE JASPER (5) (Village Jasper – Karara Elle), an Allan McDonough trained filly who ran third in a Geelong trial to GRINS RENDITION (8). This looks his sort of race. TRICK THE PRESS (5) had the run of the race and out-finished a handy standing start field at Ballarat last week and he has a good record at this level. Rate him highly. SUMMER DREAMING (9) scored nicely in similar company at Bendigo before not having much go his way at Echuca last time. From this trailing draw he’ll be sitting just off the pace. He ran a string of placings in better races than this back in February/March and finished fourth in a strong Cranbourne affair before a last start all the way victory here eight weeks ago over BRIALINGER BOY (11). DELIGHTFUL SOKY (4) had the run of the race when second at Geelong, then was wide in the last lap when a solid fourth in a Moonee Valley day affair a month ago. She looks well graded at this level. SECRET AIM (9) led and fell in when recording a second up victory here a fortnight ago but will be a big improver for two runs from a long spell and has each way claims. YMBRO COCO (2) is one paced mare who’d been placed three times on end before a luckless unplaced sprint effort at Cranbourne last Saturday night. She has the draw and won’t get a better chance to break back into the winners’ list. SELECTIONS: SWEETEN THE POT (3), Delightful Soky (4), Secret Aim (9), Ymbro Coco (2). A talented four year old mare, she had the run of the race to beat recent Moonee Valley Super Sires winner Villagem at Cranbourne six weeks ago, then led all the way for a narrow defeat of the in-form Pocket Legend here at the latest meeting. BATTLE HEIGHTS (8) had been racing well but without luck at Moonee Valley before going for a short break, and she resumes after six weeks off with an excellent Geelong trial third in fast time to Melpark Major. LIMIT LESS (5) is a tough gelding who hasn’t been having much luck and has a chance if he can find a spot outside the leader. The other winning chances belong to SHOVANISTIC (1), who’s had two luckless unplaced runs since resuming; and SWIFT CULLEN (3), who battled on okay when a six metre fifth from the breeze to BLYTON BROMAC (4) here last time. His form has been around some of our better youngsters, he’s been trialling okay for his return, and is usually a fast beginner from the tapes. IMSOCLASSY (4) won here in March and hasn’t been far away in four runs since. He hasn’t started for five weeks but has been to the trials and is well graded at this level. STAR SPANGLED RAMA (8) has won twice this season but her recent runs have been slightly below par. In her best form, she’d probably beat these. ROBUCHON (12) went nicely when coming from this mark for a first up fourth on this circuit a fortnight ago and looks next best. JOHNCARLO (3) is a bad actor who’ll win a race the day he trots for the entire trip. SELECTIONS: GIMME THAT THING (2), Imsoclassy (4), Star Spangled Rama (8), Johncarlo (3). DOMINATE LINE (11) was placed in three of five last season as a two year old, finishing off with a second at Globe Derby to top youngster Ligthning McCool last August. Has been most impressive in recent Shepparton trial wins. KEPPEL BAY (10) is a highly talented filly who won last year’s Breeders Crown final. She’s been competitive at the top level this season she ran second in the Queensland Oaks in March and comes off a second, fourth and luckless ninth in heat, semi final and final of the recently completed Vicbred Super Sires series. THREES A CROWD (8) is another filly with ability. A first up Globe Derby winner early last month, she ran second last time from the breeze at Stawell and has a trailing draw to be handy enough in the run. The Lance Justice trained TACTICAL JOURNEYS (1) was placed in a Valley day affair from three starts earlier this season and was favourite when resuming at Kilmore a fortnight ago when wide from the rear to the breeze mid-race and weakening in the run home. He was resuming when favourite at Nyah last week when eased from a wide draw to the rear and not put into the race. With a more aggressive drive, he’ll beat these. WOULDNT IT BE NICE (11) won her second race for the season in a restricted race at Young in all the way fashion three starts back, and has finished well for back-to-back seconds at Cranbourne and Kilmore in two runs for Andy Gath. He looks the danger to this favourite. JOLAURELLA (12) ran a nice race when wide in the last lap and a first up second at Charlton before coming from well back when right off the track in the last lap and fifth here at the most recent meeting. Next best is IT HAPPENS A LOT (7), who was an improver when finishing well for third against similar company at Maryborough a fortnight ago. The first starter is CHEQUERS GIRL (1) (Lord Vic – Calmara Park), a Shirley Drake trained 5YO mare who recently ran second in a trial here. He’s raced four times for a win here, a couple of solid efforts at Moonee Valley, the latter of those when second to Composed in the Tatlow final, then beat a good field at Globe Derby a fortnight ago. BOHEMIAN LOMBO (9) is an improving type who worked hard to the breeze and fought on well to win at Ballarat a couple of weeks back and has strong claims. UBRINGTHEDRINKS (2) worked hard to lead early then handed up when third to Bells And Whistles and Composed at the Valley last week and completes a trio of strong winning chances. He should lead and whatever beats him will win. The interesting runner is lightly raced NSW gelding JACCKA SANDY (4), who’s won four of ten this season and acquitted himself well in the recently completed Carousel Series where he was a luckless sixth in the final. A recent acquisition to the Graeme Lang stable, he’s sure to be prominent. LOMBO AIR EXPRESS (2) was one of NSW’s best youngsters over the past couple of seasons when trained by Paul Fitzpatrick. He’s the class runner who went around in last season’s Inter Dominion and ran second in the Consolation, and will be improved by his luckless unplaced first up Geelong effort a fortnight ago where he weakened after a tough trip.
