GIVITANAME (3) was a tough Horsham Super Sires winner four starts back before a luckless unplaced effort in a Semi-final here, then was wide outside them in the final circuit when third at Terang. A fast Globe Derby winner from the breeze last weekend, he’s a tough in-form gelding who’s won 10 of 17 this season and will be hard to hold out. MISS LAURA JANE (1) was one of our best fillies last season but hasn’t quite reached those heights this time in. She led when favourite and a battling third at Harold Park three starts back, then drew poorly and was never a factor in a similar race to this here before flashing through along the sprint lane from three back the pegs when just failing to pick up Shardons Rocket at Nyah ten days ago. She’s probably better with a sit and could be a sprint lane threat. BAY TORRENT (2) is an honest mare who was close up in three runs here before a death seat second at Kilmore, and came from miles back when fourth there at her latest outing. MAN ON A ROCK (4) hasn’t won for 19 months but showed good signs when flashing home from near last for third in a strong Maryborough stand last week. He has gate speed and may be the leader. Tasmanian ARRAS (10) has won nine races over the past couple of seasons and is probably dropping in grade from recent solid efforts. Some chance also to NSW visitor BLUE NEVADA (6), and claimer ALBY ALBERT (9), who didn’t run a bad race in a strong stand here last week. RATINGS: 1, 2, 3 / 4 / 10 / 6, 9. SUGGESTED BET: Flexi trifecta 1, 2, 3, 4 and 10 to win and run second with the field for third. $24.00 gets you 25% 2 Pridmore Tatlow Final ? MISTER CASTLETON (10) is unbeaten in three starts so far and looked good in his heat victory at Kilmore where he worked to the lead at the 1400 and cleared out to win by 48 metres. He looks to have a touch of class about him. SOUTHPORT CEE (6) put up a giant effort to run second in his heat as he galloped and gave them a big start, then rounded them up in the last lap only to be cut down late by AMIRI (5), who was debuting and finished well after having the run of the race. They both rate highly. The other heat was won by CONFUSED SUPERSTAR (3), who made it two from two, both in all the way fashion but he hasn’t run any time in either of those victories so it’s hard to know how good he is. THE TARKINE (11) is possibly the best of this lot but his manners have let him down in both runs so far – he made up big ground when third in the heat won by CONFUSED SUPERSTAR (3) and can beat these with a clean getaway. All other runners bar perhaps (4) and (7), look to be in with a chance. RATINGS: 10 / 5, 6 / 3, 11 / 1, 2, 9. SUGGESTED BET: MISTER CASTLETON (10) to win. 3 Dallas Building Vic. She’s eight from eight so far and comes off a NSW Derby heat win over local gelding Trottin On The Ritz and an easy Menangle all-the-way victory ten days ago. If she leads as expected, her main danger ALDEBARAN DREAM (1) should be sitting right on her back. This Chris Lang trained filly has raced twice for as many wins, sprinting quickly in both successes, and draws to complete the hat trick. ONLYONEWOMAN (3) is a handy filly who won at Maryborough, then ran third in the Super Sires Final to Conaroyal here before weakening to fifth after a tough death seat trip in the NSW Derby. Chances also to KAN YU (9), who ran a brave second to ARIZONA BLUE (2) at Menangle three starts back and fought on well from the breeze when third in the Holmfield last week; and AFTANOONDELITE (12), who sat wide for the last 1200 when beating SINGING CREEK (6) at Maryborough time. Third here to Gilt Bromac in a fast mile three starts back, she was badly held up when unplaced to Jazzam on this circuit in the Ladyship Cup, then was held up and finished well for fifth to Tear It All Away in a much stronger race than this here a fortnight ago. Another handy mare TRANQUIL ODYSSEY (2), broke through for an overdue win when sitting in the breeze to beat Dilinger Girl at Geelong a fortnight ago. From an awkward second line draw, she was never a factor here last week behind stablemate Barachias but was noticed running on strongly in the closing stages. LOMBO LUMBER JACK (4) is a tough one-paced gelding who’s drawn the second line in three recent runs here and hasn’t been disgraced. He races well when doing it tough outside the leader and from this draw, should be there. THE GUNSTAR (10) was a big improver at his first run for Dean Braun when he led and weakened late to third behind Charlies Dream in fast time at Cranbourne last weekend. Expect improvement – that was his first run for seven weeks. BOORHAMAN (5) hasn’t quite reached the heights he attained last season when winning here amongst his six victories, but hasn’t been far away in recent starts and has the gate speed to be prominent. GOOD BYE (7) and ALTIVO (8) are also in the mix. RATINGS: 1 / 2, 4 / 10 / 5 / 7, 8. He finished powerfully to beat Maffioso in a 4YO Super Sires Semi-final here three starts back, was caught wide when finishing at the rear in the final, then came from well back and ran into late traffic when favourite and a close fifth at Geelong last week. From the draw, he’ll be sitting just off the pace and may be too good for them. RADIO CITY (2) beat the in-form Steve Mcqueen from the breeze when resuming at Geelong three starts back, then was wide when a close daytime fourth here before doing all the work and out-staying a handy field at Terang at his latest run. Recent runs have been from wide alleys and he’ll appreciate the good draw. VILLAGE PUNGEE (8) is a consistent gelding who was shuffled to the rear and wide in the last lap when beaten narrowly by Barachias in a 1:56.3 mile here last week. He’s racing well and has a great each way chance. Best of the others is JILLIBY PRINCE (6), who flashed home late to win at Ballarat before a similar effort when coming from last on the home turn and a close fourth to Barachias last week. SMOOTH HAYLEY (1) (3) and last week’s disappoinment SINGASONGASIXPENCE (5), are others with some hope. RATINGS: 9 / 2 / 8 / 6 / 1, 5. Up there with out best as a two and three year old, she’s taken time to find her top form this season but showed up well in the recently completed Super Sires series here and franked that form with a tough and impressive eleven metre Echuca victory last week. The draw is awkward but the opposition is beatable. YOU TWO BONO (1) showed up as a handy two year old a couple of seasons back but did little last season. He resumed from a long spell with a Cranbourne sprint victory recently, then hit the line well when a close second to Lets Go Ollie in a stand there last week. Consistent mare DAVIDS LADY (2) led all the way to win at Echuca last time and is an improver who’ll be hard to run down as the likely leader once more. MAZARAHTI (11) is in good form but draws awkwardly. He led to record an impressive Maryborough victory three starts back, then surprisingly handed up the lead and was unable to run down Melbournian in a 56.6 last half at Bendigo before leading when cut down late at Cranbourne last week. STATUS SEEKER (10) looks the other winning possibility. RATINGS: 12 / 1, 2, 11 / 10. SUGGESTED BET: Flexi box trifecta 1, 2, 10, 11 and 12. 7 Tabcorp Park Opens July 5 9.45 2100m. $15001. WIPEM DRY (1) was a Bendigo winner four starts back and hasn’t had much luck in three runs since, the latter two when driven by his trainer. A sit/sprint horse, he draws perfectly and it must be noted that he’s been driven in ten of his twelve wins by Daryl Douglas - his pilot tonight. UNITED WE STAND (5) was off the scene for more than a year before a first up unplaced effort here, then come-from-behind claiming third at Ballarat. At his third run back, he flashed home from the rear for second in fast time to Gilt Bromac here last week and looks ready to win. REAL SMOOTH LOMBO (10) is a bold front running type who’s won 10 of 26. He finished his last preparation with three wins on end the latter two of those here, but was a beaten favourite when wide to the breeze in consecutive races at Bendigo and Horsham early last month. Please yourself !!. SOPHIE PASS (6) seems to have gone off the boil slightly but would win this in her best form. She’s won 10 of 28 this season, drops in grade from recent back-to-back fourths on this circuit and looks the leader this time. DILINGER GIRL (12) is a 16 time winning mare who hasn’t scored in 23 tries this season but has been brave in recent starts, when touched off by Tranquil Odyssey at Geelong, and here last week when caught in the breeze and cut down late by Village Warrior. Each way chances to TWIRLING (3), BELOKA DIAMOND (4), MCLLHATTON (8) and HARRYS LASS (11) in a race that looks a real raffle. RATINGS: 1 / 5, 6, 10, 12 / 4, 11 / 8. He won his tenth race on this circuit from 19 tries when he followed a 1:54.7 mile win here with an all the way victory over KARLSRUHE (3) a fortnight ago where he finished off in 56.2. His stablemate OUR MALABAR (4) weakened after a solid trip in the 4 & 5YO Championship here last week but his prior efforts were excellent, with back-to-back victories here and a Maryborough success. KARLSRUHE (3) was second up from a break when chasing home SMOKEN UP (5) here last time and will be fitter for those outings. That pair and YAKUZA (2), arguably Tasmania’s best pacer, look the chief trifecta chances behind SMOKEN UP (5). RATINGS: 5 / 2, 3, 4. He draws to sit just off the pace and looks the one they have to beat. WALTON VAN (12) has won three races here this season and went okay when second last start to HENCHMAN (10) when forced to make two moves. With the right trail into the race, he’d run right by these. PRINCE BONTON (6) was our top claimer a couple of seasons back and has gone okay this time in with his five runs this season culminating in back-to-back victories at Ballarat, and at a day meeting here a month ago where he held off a tough challenge from ROCKET WARRIOR (9), who sat outside him.
