He showed speed and was inconvenienced last week behind Hilton Adonis but looks a major factor from the perfect barrier draw. OHOKA TERI (3) has been placed at his past two and he was a winner four starts back and is sure to make his presence felt in this class. IM GAUCHO (9) defeated Streetem four starts back and he was checked after the start when runner- up behind Salvidar at Port Pirie last week. He’ll be thereabouts. LITTLE BIT TRICKY (10) is another former Queenslander now in the hands of claiming king Robert Caruso. He’s been placed just three times in his last 37 starts but look for improvement. EASY MONEY (4) was well driven to win last start over Slay Em. He enjoyed a good run behind the speed and might need a touch of early luck from this barrier. THE PROTECTER (6) is drawn wide but has been thereabouts recently while GLACIER HOLMES (7) is a hard horse to catch but won here five starts back. She should be primed for three runs back from a break and was a Maryborough winner four starts back. She has chased home the smart Saybia and looks the one to beat if she can make the most of her distinct handicap advantage. KEYSTONE MAORI (5) is racing well and he is drawn to give a sigh from the front line. He was a soft winner back in class four starts back and has been close up at recent starts and was beaten on 3m by Lady Bellanique two starts back. BOLD MOVER (10) is a class mare who has won 15 races and she was on her worst behaviour at Moonee Valley last time when she missed the start and was never a factor. She was a good winner over Main Artery here three starts back. She faces a huge task from the 60m handicap over the 2230m, but don’t discount her. PINVALE ADAM (1) wasn’t far away in similar class but he doesn’t win out of turn. He was placed behind Saybia three starts back and could surprise. SOL INVICTUS (9) has been placed at two of his past four and did some work late when 5th behind Lady Bellanique last time. He led and gave a huge sight when runner-up behind Myrniong Rager three starts back and his past two efforts have been sound, he led when 4th behind Mythical Beast from the stand last week. He’s back in class here and should go well. CELESTIAL PRESENCE (8) ran a super race here last week when he was runner-up behind Givitaname. He should get a good run behind the speed from the draw and won’t be far away. AMARILLO BLUE (2) is nicely drawn and she was a Port Pirie winner two starts back before a handy effort when runner-up behind Amarillo Blue there last week. He wasn’t far away behind Givitaname here last week and look a major factor despite drawing wide. WUNLASTCHANCE (9) is in good form and made it two straight victories when he defeated Our Lady jane last time. This is a slight rise in grade but he’ll make his presence felt. HAVELOCK HANOVER (3) has been around the mark since resuming an he covered some ground when 5th behind Wide Load last week. SANDYISMYNAME (8) should get a nice run behind the speed and he was a winner over Virginia Storm two starts back before a luckless run behind Givitaname last week. JAZZZSTAR (1) loves to sit handy to the speed and finish her race off and she won well two starts back before a handy effort behind Prez last time. This is her best draw since finishing a close-up second to Wunlastchance two starts ago and she should get a good run. VIA TRASTEVERE (5) used his gate speed to good effect two weeks ago but he’ll have his work cut out trying to find the lead here. VARIO (6) has been a consistent placegetter of late although the draw does him no favours here, while BUCKLEUP BILLY (8) has been doing his recent racing in country Victoria. His form over there has been okay without being anything special and he can get a good trail through depending on how OUR LADY JANE (1) and LOVES A DRINK (2) start in front of him. The latter rarely wins but is always a place chance and the same goes for SAME ACTION (10) from the testing gate. She’ll have to do it the hard way from three out on the second row but this is probably easier than what she’s been contesting recently. The biggest danger will come from the front row in the form of VIRGINIA STORM (2) and DUART CASTLE (3) both of whom possess gate speed. DUART CASTLE was a winner two starts back at Terang in okay time, then did some work behind Prez last time out here. VIRGINIA STORM can probably find the front but she struggles to find the line first when it counts. CULLYNDAL (5) is another place chance and that’s pretty much her go at present. She’s run in the first four at six of her last seven, only winning once at Broken Hill. FINAL ANSWER (8) used the sprint lane when running into second behind Hilton Adonis and was going around in harder company before that. With the right run he can be in the finish here. SMARTY ARTY (4) led last start when also not far behind Hilton Adonis and he’s s chance to do the same again, depending on what TIMEQUEST (3), who also has gate speed, does inside him. As he was last week at Port Pirie SALDIVAR (7) can be the knockout horse if he finds some cover from teh wide draw, while the last start second placing of SLAY EM (5) is enough to put him in calculations for the minors. Really it wouldn’t surprise if any of the nine runners were to fill a place. Her only real failure came behind the handy Mohua when she broke and if she finds cover from the draw she should be therebouts. Drawn outside her is COROMANDEL CRUISER (6) who has arguably been a touch disappointing at his last two. He’s covered ground in each and that’s again the question mark starting from out wide. LEGENDARY STATUS (1) rarely puts in a bad run but doesn’t win very often either. The pole should give him every chance and he’s certainly a place proposition. Similar consideration is warranted for PUAXTACY (3), TOMMY THEGUN (4) and STAGEHAND (8).
