Good chance. BLATCHFORD (8) raced in much stronger company prior to a spell. Expect a forward showing first up. MIGHTY MAURIE (7) has a wide draw but should improve after two runs for new trainer Peter Manning. BIG DOUG (4) has been racing against stronger company and could be an improver here. TERBAH (2) will be fitter for his first up run from a short break. He bobs up now and then. Place chance best for PARIS JOKER (1) and BLADE OF GLORY (5) who is resuming. Hard to beat despite the wide draw. IM BELLAS FELLA (5) was checked last start. He was placed at his first two runs from a spell and must be included in chances. SEWINYAFACE (8) didn’t have much luck last start. Her prior two placings were strong and has claims. Both of Peter Manning’s runners EFFECTIVE TORQUE (1) and VERDANT (2) should not be underestimated over this trip. Place chance best for EVALIEN (3) and TOP PENNYMAKER (9). He then won again last start at Maryborough. Hard to beat again. OUR ELLAS FELLA (6) was disappointing last time. He led all the way at his prior start at Geelong. Good prospects. CLOSE SHAVE LOMBO (4) won three starts back at Ballarat and has been in the placings ten of 13 starts this season. Go well. JILLIBY BARTEL (3) has been placed at five of eight this season. Just beaten two starts back at Terang. Include in multiples. SCOTATTITUDE (2) led all the way when resuming at Kilmore before being checked last time. Trifecta chance. Drawn wide again but has the class to overcome the draw. Just needs some luck to win this. KEPPEL BAY (2) appreciated the easier company to win at Terang last Thursday. She is very smart at her best and looks well suited from the draw, QUEEN OF FIRE (6) has raced well in strong company and despite the wide draw, won’t be far away at the finish. CLARENDEN SERENE (7) has been only unplaced only once from 18 starts this season. Harder here but an each way chance. CORLEONE (8) is shooting for a hat trick after Mildura and Ballarat wins. She has been beaten out of sight her past three runs in her homeland in stronger company than this but importantly she did win a trial here six days ago and has drawn nicely. MISS ADELADE (10) returns to Victoria after a stint in NSW. She ran a good second behind Bold Adam in 1.58.7 last start at Menangle and looms as a big threat in this. FLEETWOOD BLUE (7) has plenty of talent but her manners let her down on occasions. She was a strong Ballarat winner three runs ago then she ran third to the smart type Conaroyal at Stawell before doing things wrong at Geelong as favourite. Stand is a big query but if she trots all the way she’ll be in the finish. First Starter KEPT AT BRUSHGROVE (1) (Safely Kept – Dianahs Best) for Bob Conroy has trialled ok at Bendigo last month and can place from the pole draw along with GIDDY UP AMOUR (4), KANO WAGON (8) and ELECTRIC ANGEL (12). He’ll improve with that run under his belt and he is the one t beat. TRAVISTY (1) is resuming tonight but was a strong trial winner here early this month and he was running some nice races behind some smart types when last in work. He has each way claims from the perfect draw. MY MATE CLAUDY (6) did the job well at Cranbourne last start and he will be fitter as that was his first run for just under three months and DOCTOR SAM (7) didn’t have the best of luck when fourth to MY MATE CLAUDY (6) at Cranbourne last time and despite the poor draw he could surprise with a touch of luck. Best of the rest is MAORI VACATION (3) who was a nice third on debut in the race mentioned above and should be included in your multiples. She ran a close up fourth to Three Wise Men at Ballarat two back then did things wrong finishing towards the rear behind Knight Crusader at Cranbourne. Both of those would beat these easily and although she has drawn poorly over the sprint trip I think she can do something in this. HONEYROSE (5) put in her best effort to date finishing second to Whatacracker at Shepparton eight days ago and a repeat performance will see her in the finish. GO TINKERBELL (9) was third in the race mentioned above and from her good trailing draw she should be competitive again tonight with rough hopes going to SAFE HILLS (1), ZAINTIANO (3), SOUND EDITION (6) and LUCE SOUND (8). IM SWITCHED ON (1) is first up in Victoria for Ron Sheppard. He was a trial winner at Bendigo a month ago and had handy form in NSW prior to heading south. He is nicely drawn tonight and a forward showing is expected. KHAN BAT KHAN BOWL (7) won from the stand last time at Maryboroough which followed a handy fifth here to Scotattitude. He has been placed second his past three runs at Geelong and is well and truly overdue for a win. He is a go forward horse and may look for the lead. He rate clearly ahead of DUST UP (5) and IM FLASH WITH CASH (6) who both have strong place claims on their recent form and are must includes for those playing trifecta’s and first fours. He steps up in distance and class tonight but on the strength of his latest effort he can go close in this. JACCKA DUDE (3) made up a stack of ground for second behind VANTICE DAY (10) last start at Shepparton from a poor second row draw and has come up with a better alley this time around and has a show at odds. VANTICE DAY (10) sprinted best to score in the race mentioned above and with a cart into it he can be dangerous once more with blowout hopes going to the well drawn pair of SEAN THORNTON (2), MISTER MIRIAM (1) and the hot and cold type EARLS A FLAME (11). With that in mind I’ve settled on HARDWARE HUNTER (1). This fellow hasn’t been seen at the races since he did a few things wrong when on debut at Horsham back in August last year. He has since trialled well at Shepparton last month and from the inside alley I think he can run well. BARON KINLEY (5) has raced in tougher company his past two than what he meets here and he has the gate speed to be prominent throughout. BETTOR STILL (9) ran his best race of his short career at Shepparton last time finishing a narrow second behind Twisted Firestarta in a fast run affair. He has a nice traiing draw and is sure to be competitive. HOWZAT FIRE (7) is first up for Gary Donaldson and has trialled well in preparation for this run tonight. He does have high speed but he also has a wide draw to contend with. RUBAIYAT (8) was disappointing last start but with a nice soft run on the pegs he can surprise at odds. First starters TERKA STAR (2) (Live Or Die – Terka Lady) for Scott Adams and READMYMIND (3) (Safely Kept – Highfields Gem) for Juanita Breen have both trialled ok of late and bear watching.
