He’s raced four times from a break for a tough death seat Shepparton victory in fast time, a luckless third to Tear It All Away here when wide in the last lap, an excellent win over this trip here a fortnight ago when making two moves from his wide draw, and at his latest run he worked to sit outside Albert Jaccka when just failing to pick that fellow up in a strong Ballarat affair last weekend. MYSTICAL WARRIOR (6) had won 16 races before a disappointing start to his current season where he took 15 runs to break through for his first win of the term - that being when overcoming a wide last lap at Bendigo a month ago to beat a strong field. He draws awkwardly but so does the favourite. ISLAND TANGO (10) hasn’t started since flashing home from the rear to win one of these mile affairs here five weeks ago and he looks nicely suited. DREAMING FELLA (4) upset a decent field at Mildura ten days ago and has the speed to be prominent here. Chances also to CONTE CENTOVALLI (1), TALAMAHARA (5), SPIDER NELSON (7) and MCLLHATTON (8). She beat SPEEDY NAOMI (10) at Ballarat four starts back, then sat in the breeze when third in the Super Sires 4YO final to I Didnt Do It here before trailing wide in the final circuit when fourth to MAORI SUNSHINE (12) here three weeks ago. Her most recent run was a solid second to Cillas Earl at Bendigo where she again worked to the breeze mid-race and was nailed late. THEPOWEROFHEALING (3) is a classy mare who won three races earlier this season and looks well up to this company. She hasn’t started since finishing mid-field in a strong Geelong affair back in February but recently came off a back mark to win a Shepparton standing start trial in fast time. KARAMBOO (7) is a consistent mare who led all the way at Shepparton, then chased home well when second here to MAORI SUNSHINE (12) before beating all but LA BISCUIT (13) here a fortnight ago – she meets the victors of those two races here both on ten metres better terms. MAORI SUNSHINE (12) made it four on end when winning in all the way fashion here before working wide to lead from her 20 metre handicap when cut down late into third place by Cillas Earl at Bendigo nine days ago. Best of the others is LA BISCUIT (13), who won her sixth race for the season when finding the lead here a fortnight ago but she’ll find it harder this time from the back mark. An ex-Kiwi, he’s won three of four since coming here and finished off his previous campaign with a tough victory over the talented Stumpen at Maryborough last November. He was resuming from a break of seven months when quickly in front from his back mark and untroubled to win a Cranbourne stand first up a fortnight ago. LADY OCTAVIA (6) is a talented mare who followed an easy Echuca victory with a fast finishing second to SCANLON (3) at this level here last week. She’ll appreciate her return to the front line. SCANLON (3) did a good job to win that race as he made two moves and was strong at the finish. ONLY MCCOOL (1) is an ex-NSW performer who won at Shepparton and Kilmore from three runs since coming south and her Kilmore victory last Monday was a decent effort as she sat three wide for most of the trip. In an open race, every runner has a winning chance. Ratings: 6, 10 / 1, 3 / 5, 7 / 2, 4, 8? 9. OUR MALABAR (8) is the quality performer and his 20 metre back mark shouldn’t be too much of a hurdle for him. The Geelong Cup winner earlier his season, he was wide in the last lap when beating Dontfencemein in a similar race here last month, then led all the way and rated 1:56.5 to win a mobile Maryborough middle distance affair before having no luck in the four and five year old Championship here a fortnight ago. He was making late ground when third to top line stablemate Smoken Up here last week. VILLAGE WARRIOR (3) flew the tapes when leading all the way here two starts back, then took a sit and finished best to win nicely from the mobile here a fortnight ago. He’s won 13 of 31 and takes each class rise in his stride. YAKUZA (5) is a former Victorian who is arguably Tasmania’s best pacer. He has a great record from the stand and will improve vastly on his battling fifth to Smoken Up in FFA company here last week. MR CLANCY (1) made it 7 wins from 18 starts this season when completing the hat trick at Kilmore three weeks ago, then was outclassed in the 4 & 5YO Championship here. He has a good standing start record and from the pole, is surprisingly Lance’s driving elect over stablemate OUR MALABAR (8), and is sure to run a bold race. KARLSRUHE (7) ran a nice second to Smoken Up here a fortnight ago, then had no favours when last to him last week. He’s a classy animal but not as well suited from behind the tapes. Stablemates SOPHIE PASS (2) and HENCHMAN (4) are also in the mix. Ratings: 8 / 3, 5 / 1, 7 / 2, 4. LOT OF LIP (1) has gate speed, draws perfectly and his recent efforts include a tough second at Geelong, an equaly solid second here to Lightning McCool at this level two starts back when wide in the last lap and fighting on well, and a best forgotten unplaced effort from an awkward second line draw in a Super Sires semi final here at his latest start. FRANCO NEWSMAN (12) is the class runner but draws poorly and disappointed slightly in that same race behind Lightning McCool here a month ago when only battling after finding the top. He’ll appreciate this freshen up and looks nicely graded on his best form. ULTIMATE UNDER FIRE (11) came from last and covered ground in the final circuit when beating a moderate field first up at Bendigo last week, will be fitter and has each way claims. A handy performer, he’s won 7 of 15. Each way chances to ISLAND BRAVE (2), who flashed home from an impossible position when second at Cobram last week following on from a tough Echuca victory. AZUMAH MAZASHA (3) made four from his last five when leading all the way at Horsham last time and although this is his toughest test to date, he looks well up to it. The query runner is lightly raced Tasmanian UNDERDOG (4), who chased home top youngster Make a Memory in consecutive runs at Launceston before an effortless victory there in the St Leger a fortnight ago. OUR WHITE KNIGHT (8) and KALAHARI PRINCE (9) should also figure prominently. Ratings: 1 / 11, 12 / 2, 3 / 4? / 8, 9 / 5, 6, 7. She was wide in the last lap and finished off in 57.5 when beating United We Stand in that victory and should settle closer this time from the good trailing alley. CHRISTIAN MELODY (3) is a handy mare who’s won 12 of 36. She beat a good field at Yarra Valley a month ago, then was badly blocked for a run and unlucky not to be in the finish when close up in the Queen Of The Pacific from the stand here three weeks ago. VERY CHIC (4) is the early speed in the race and she’ll be hard to beat if she can cross and lead. Third to JAZZAM (6) here, she then ran a close fifth in the Queen Of The Pacifc, then was held up in the 4 & 5YO Championship here last time when eased to the rear from a wide draw. JAZZAM (6) finished powerfully to beat talented NSW mare Lady Lexus to win the Ladyship Cup here before having no luck in the Queen Of The Pacific. She’s well up to these and will be doing her best work at the finish. MESMERIZING (7) finished second in a strong race here to Pacific Charm when resuming, then ran third in the Queen Of The Pacific. Those runs should have her cherry ripe for this. HARRYS LASS (5) looks the other winning chance. Ratings: 9 / 3, 4, 6 / 7 / 5. Suggested bet: GILT BROMAC (9) to win. SECRET TENDER (12) had the run of the race and was too strong for them in his heat last week, making it 7 wins from 17 starts from the season – his prior victory being over Maffioso in a Super Sires Semi-final last month. GLORIA LOMBO (2) had been racing well but without luck before handing up and using the sprint lane to win her heat here last week running past the bold front running GOOD BYE (5), who fought on solidly. They both rate highly again. The other heat was won by ARRAS (8), who showed plenty of fortitude but draws a little awkwardly this time. The hard luck story from that race was from MISS LAURA JANE (3) who was held up on the pegs before flashing through late. She’ll probably have a dip at leading here then hand up to GOOD BYE (5) and is likely to issue a strong sprint lane threat in the closing stages. Chances also to honest mare TRANQUIL ODYSSEY (4); VILLAGE PUNGEE (7), who’s been consistent here in recent runs but draws awkwardly; tough one paced performed LOMBO LUMBER JACK (9), along with BLUE NEVADA (10) and ALBY ALBERT (11), who both went well when placed behind ARRAS (8) here last week. His prior runs resulted in successive placings to Sundons Gift, with whom he’s had some titanic battles. Two runs since his long injury enforced spell have been good efforts in pacing affairs, the latest of those when fighting on well in a 58.3 last half for second to Rowan Direct at Ballarat a fortnight ago. New kid on the block SKYVALLEY (5) has gone right on with it since winning the Breeders Crown last season – he’s won 9 of 16 this term and comes off a back mark Maryborough success in April and a tough death seat mobile victory here a month ago. He’s done more recent racing than the favourite and will certainly test him. RONERAIL (8) is a talented squaregaiter who’s having his first start since coming from a back mark to beat La Mosca in the Knight Pistol Trotters Cup here back in February. Recent trial placings at Geelong and Tabcorp Park have been promising efforts. Handy mares ELLA POWELL (2) and FALSE GEM (3) along with the inconsistent CONQUER ALL (4) are also in the mix, as they draw inside the favourites. Ratings: 6 / 5 / 8? / 2, 3, 4. OBOLLAND (1) made two moves and battled on well when fourth to Scanlon here in a much stronger 4YO affair last week and from the pole will be mighty hard to beat. Brian Gath is likely to revv him up from the pole and he’ll either lead or take a sit on whatever does. COHABIT (5) is an ex-NSW performer who shown good ability since coming south to Mark Thompson. He led all the way to beat Scooting Armbro, a winner since, at Shepparton two starts back, then was caught in the breeze when a solid second at Echuca before winning a trial on that circuit last Sunday. ARUN PARK (6) ran third in that Echuca affair then stormed home from last on the home turn when an eye catching and close third at Horsham last Monday. He’s only won one of 13 but looks to have his hoof firmly planted on the till. POWERFUL TYCOON (9) is a tough gelding who was runner up at Ballarat and Maryborough before running into traffic problems at Ballarat last weekend. He should cop a soft sit just off the pace and is likely to be running on at the finish. Ratings: 1 / 5, 6 / 7, 9 / 2. Suggested bet: OBOLLAND (1) to win.
