48 Herald Sun, Friday, June 19, 2009 + Maryborough Sprint Lane: Yes Daily Double: 5, 7 Quaddie: 4, 5, 6, 7. TAB CODE P H TOUCHTONE 26 1 Taranto Vicbred 12.16 2190m. $5000. 3yo 3T0 Or Better Trotters RBD Stand 1 4135s COMMANDER RAMA 2 75463 SUNSHOT 3 7s303 FORWARD PRESS 4 35544 VEE SALUTE Craig’s call: It is a small but open trotting event to commence the program with several winning chances. SASSY PINEVALE (5) broke stride and lost her chance in the Victoria Oaks last week but boxed on well for third behind Aftanoondelite at Maryborough prior. She is a talented filly and should prove hard to beat against this line up. FORWARD PRESS (3) had no luck whatsoever when he missed away and ran into traffic difficulties in the final circuit at his latest third at Cranbourne. He is a promising colt and should go well. BELSBAND (7) ran a good race in the Victoria Oaks after beginning poorly and is capable of improving on her numerical form. COMMANDER RAMA (1) is resuming since March but will be fitter for two recent trial efforts and is capable of figuring in the finish. RED HOT SPEICAL (6) has a good turn of speed and could show up with a foolproof display. She was a late withdrawal for causing two false starts last time but will take beating with a foolproof display. BROWNGATE BEAUTY (8) settled three back on the markers, sprinted quickly to hit the lead at the 50m but peaked on her run and was beaten narrowly by Elusive Charm last outing. She is a promising maiden and should run a forward race despite an awkward draw. MY LADY POSH (2) gained every chance when third in the Tatlow Stakes last outing but is usually foolproof and is worth thought on an each way basis. GALAKTIKA (3) began poorly but made up an enormous amount of ground when fourth on debut and is a value chance. AVID (6) (Modern Art – Africorn) is a first starter for trainer Leo Newbound, which takes on a good field first up but finished second in a Shepparton trial behind recent winner My Mate Claudy (3yo). He faces a handicap of 10m but beat a stronger field last time so he must be respected. GRINNERSAWINNER (7) (Grinfromeartoear – Rock Me) is a nicely bred first starter for trainer Mick Blackmore, which won a Bendigo trial (58.4 final 800m) then finished second in a Shepparton trial. DICENEASY (2) has finished determinately at his past two placed efforts and is nearing a win so is worth thought against this line up. SPIRAL JET (6) was aggressively driven to find the lead from the second line and boxed on fairly well for third at Warragul last outing. He usually performs well from the standing start and is one of the leading chances in the event. GIFT TALK (5) (Denver Gift – Speak English) is a first starter for trainer Annetto Mifsud, which is nicely drawn on the front line but has finished unplaced in several recent trial efforts. She is racing in career best form and will take beating. LIMIT LESS (8) settled midfield and finished on strongly for a game third to Swift Cullen at Warragul last outing. He is a tough type and looks suited against this class so a bold showing is expected. KING OF STYX (4) has been placed in four of his past five starts and had no luck from the inside of the second line when seventh to Sigalas last outing. He is better drawn for this assignment and is worth an investment. BIDDYS STAR (1) will appreciate her best draw for some time and is a minor place chance. This race looks more suitable and she is worth an investment. GRANTIME DOR (12) has boxed on okay at her past two placed efforts and is a minor place chance again despite a wide draw. SAFELY LOADED (11) endured a tough run when fifth last outing and is worth another chance from her trailing draw. MY PACIFIC RAINBOW (1) (Pacific Fella – Able Sharon) is a first starter for trainer Jayne Davies, which won a recent Cranbourne tria in slow time and should receive every chance from the inside draw. LOVE YOU CYPRUS (8) will appreciate a drop in class on her recent efforts and possesses a good turn of speed so is worth thought despite an awkward draw. DIPLOMATIC ENVOY (12) looked to be running into a place on the home turn before he broke stride at Shepparton two starts back then was badly checked at Cobram. He races best when he is able to lead and will take catching if he steps away cleanly. BOY FROM IPANEMA (1) is a quick beginner from the standing start and was placed behind the smart type Let’s Go Ollie at Cranbourne last outing. SURF IDOL (4) won three races in succession prior to striking trouble at Parkes. This race is tougher but he has a good strike rate and is worth following. GOTTA AVA ROLL (3) gets into this race with a concession claim and has a good turn of speed so is not without a chance. He should find the lead comfortably here and will take catching. ROYAL DON (5) was beaten into fifth on his Australian debut but impressed with his effortless all of the way victory at Harold Park last week. The former New Zealander obviously has ability and is worth thought again. SUNNY STONE (9) has been racing well with a win over JOSHUA ROBERT (10), where he broke early and stormed home late, followed by a solid fourth last week. He trails out a fast beginner in IN PURSUIT (2) and rates as an each way chance. PINKSTWOTTER (1) is a strong mare and will appreciate her best draw for some time. She has had little luck lately and is a minor place chance. Other place chances include MASTER MAORI (7) and JOSHUA ROBERT (10). FRANCO TORRO (1) has been disappointing since returning from Queensland but is a fast beginner and should run an improved race from the pole position. WYANDAH (3) has been racing well on the provincial circuit where he has been placed at four of his past five attempts. He was comfortably held by JASPER GOLD (2) the last time they met but is worth a place ticket. PACE AND VISION (5) hasn’t been able to work into the race from poor barrier draws at his past two attempts but was racing well prior and is worth another chance. POCKET OF GRACE (6) and JULIUS APOLLO (7) both are capable of showing up despite a wide draw on the front line.
