Herald Sun Form Guide : June 24th 2009
44 Herald Sun, Wednesday, June 24, 2009 + Cranbourne Sprint Lane: Yes Daily Double: 5, 7 Quaddie: 4, 5, 6, 7. TAB CODE P H TOUCHTONE 26 1 Seelite Windows 1.27 1609m. $5000. 2yo 2A0 To 2A1 PBD Mobile Second Line 8 Craig’s call: It is a tough race to commence the program with four of the eight runners making their debut. THE ODDS (2) worked hard at his latest fourth at Cranbourne and won a trial at Tabcorp Park last week (2.1.6, 59.1) so he should prove hard to beat. LIVING ON ICE (4) finished strongly to win a Tabcorp Park trial last week (2.2.8, 59.4) and is a half brother to Living On Fire so he is worth thought. OHOKA DETROIT (7) hasn’t fired since coming from New Zealand but is likely to find this assignment easier. LOVABLE LARRIKIN (5) (Western Terror – Eden Chanal) is making his debut for trainer Wayne Potter and has been trialing reasonably well at Kilmore. READY SET JOE (3) (River Khan – Redabbi) is a first starter for trainer Peter Blazko, which won his latest Maryborough trial but in slow time. COURAGEOUS SPIRIT (6) (Courage Under Fire – Our Blue Heaven) is a debutante for trainer Terry Scanlon, which is widely drawn but has won recent trials at Cranbourne and Warragul. MURALI (8) (Safe And Sound – Big Brown Eyes) is a first starter for trainer Geoff Webster, which finished fourth to THE ODDS (2) at a Tabcorp Park trial but must be kept in mind. SELECTIONS: THE ODDS (2), Ohoka Detroit (7), Living On Ice (4), Lovable Larrikin (5) RATINGS: 2/ 4,7/ 3? 5? 6? 8? T0 Or Better Trotters RBD Stand Craig’s call: LELIS BOY (8) led in the early stages at Ballarat then was shuffled back on the markers mid-race and stormed home to beat Ultimate Image. He is racing in career best form and is worth thought again. ABOY NAMED CHERYL (2) raced without cover for the entire journey and did a big job for fourth (2.5m) behind Taison last outing. This race is harder but he will take catching if he steps away cleanly. JOHNCARLO (5) is a risky trotter, which showed what he is capable of when he led throughout to win easily at Warragul last outing. He drops back to a handicap of 10m now but is a winning chance if he delivers a foolproof display. STAR SPANGLED RAMA (6) only battled when third to JOHNCARLO (5) last time but has a consistent record and is capable of filling a place. 9 0s708 DELARGO BOY 10 8s478 ROBUCHON Mary-Jane Mifsud 30 4.50 Robert Olsen 30 34.00 Peter Lane 40 13.00 SELECTIONS: LELIS BOY (8), Aboy Named Cheryl (2), Johncarlo (5), Star Spangled Rama (6) RATINGS: 8/ 2,5/ 6/ 3,7 SUGGESTED BET: Flexi Trifecta 2,5,8/ 2,5,6,8/ 2,3,5,6,7,8 (Cost $20, which gives 55.55%) 3 Schweppes Pace 2.37 2080m. $5000. His record against the provincial claiming grade is outstanding and he is clearly the horse to beat. TERBAH (1) was held up for a run at a vital stage and worked home nicely for second in fast final sections at Horsham. He lacks early dash but is an each way chance if he can hold a forward position at the start. SUMMER DREAMING (7) finished strongly from near the tail of the field when an eye-catching third at Warragul last outing. He won a race of similar standard at Bendigo three starts back and is not without a chance. Both JAY BEE AITCH (6) and the former Queensland pacer JUST WATCH ME (10) raced against stronger opposition at Moonee Valley last time and are capable of showing up. He hasn’t raced since a second to Bonavista Bay at Moonee Valley in November but gunned down the good trotter In Pursuit (won since) in a Tabcorp Park trial where he ran a sizzling final half. MACH TWAIN (7) won both heat and final of the Mildura Guineas in April then endured a tough run from a second row draw at Moonee Valley at his next outing. He has been freshened since that effort and looms as one of the major chances. GOODTIME JASPER (11) endured a tough run and ran a big race when second (head) to Four Wise Men at Ballarat last outing. He has a good turn of speed and is not without a chance. NO MATTER WHAT (6) finished solidly at Kilmore last outing and is worth a place ticket. BOOKMAKERS GLORY (5) (Bookmaker – October Glory) is a first starter for Bill Le Sueur, which meets a smart field first up and finished third in slow time at a recent Cranbourne trial effort. He was placed behind Mister Zion (been impressive in Vic) at Forbury Park three starts back and was runner up at Addington last time so he is clearly the horse to beat. EASTWOOD COUNTESS (6) has been promising a win for some time and is worth thought. Admittedly, she seemingly had her chance when leading last time but was a good thing beaten at Terang prior. BRIALINGER BOY (3) was unsuited to racing out three wide in the final circuit and did well to kick on and finish fifth at Warragul last time. He possesses a good turn of speed and is capable of running into a place. ELITE PROSPECT (9) is an improved pacer, which recorded handy time when he defeated a handy field at Cranbourne last outing. He drops back to a second row draw now but is worth thought. He copped some pressure when leading at his latest third and is even more effective when coming from off the pace so he is worth following. WAIONA (9) led and was gunned down by Jaccka Clive in fast time at Bendigo then finished unplaced in a strong metropolitan race at Moonee Valley. He will appreciate a big drop in class with the aid of a concession claim and will take beating. SHOVANISTIC (2) tried to lead throughout when second to Swift Cullen at Warragul then rattled home for an eye-catching fifth behind Tippedintoomuch at Yarra Valley. He is racing well but this race is a little harder so he is a place hope only. GIVEUSACHANCE (1) was shuffled back in the field and didn’t have the best of luck in the straight when fifth at Horsham then raced out three wide for a long way at Tabcorp Park on Sunday. He paced roughly, lost 15m at the 600m and made up plenty of ground in a heat of that series two starts back. VICTREOS (4) tried to make ground out wide on the track when he ran into a distant fourth at Bendigo last outing. He is an honest pacer with each way claims. LAHAINI (5) showed plenty of ability in her 3yo season but has struggled to re-capture that form this term. She had her chance last time but is capable of a better performance. DEE EM DIVA (1) turned in an ordinary performance at Yarra Valley last outing but was racing in handy form prior and is better drawn for this assignment. He follows out behind the fast beginner COOLUM KID (3) (if reserve fails to gain a start) and deserves to break through for a win. COOLUM KID (3) ended up trailing the leader and didn’t have a great deal of luck in the latter stages at his latest fourth behind Our Falcons A Tact. SAHARA MISS (5) finished fast despite running sixth at Yarra Valley last outing and is a value chance. She is taking on the maiden class tonight so she should be winning. OUR MAYLAN (2) was restrained from a wide draw at the start of the event, over- raced badly and eventually broke stride so did a lot wrong when seventh last week. She produced a big performance when three wide for the trip and fourth behind Clarenden Serene during the Cup Carnival so she is worth another chance. TENANSIX (10) appreciated his first front row draw for a long time when he led, dashed well clear at the 500m and boxed on gamely for second to Trinita Road last week. The Tatlow Stakes runner up is a classy individual and he is the horse to beat. JAKARRA MAGIC (4) led and seemingly had every chance when second to Cosmic Cracker at Ballarat but he should be fitter for that run and will make his presence felt. SUMMANUS (8) impressed in his debut victory at Tabcorp Park on Sunday where he sustained a long run out four wide from ninth at the 500m. He obviously has ability and is worth following. SUNROSE DON (3) led throughout to win on his debut then worked hard when unplaced behind the smart pacer Fiery Exit last time. He is nicely drawn and is a minor place possibility. CAULONIA STAR (3) is resuming since May 2008 but showed plenty of ability when he was last in work and would take beating if he is somewhere near his peak. HARLEKEN WIZED (9) raced out three wide for the final 700m and boxed on well for second when resuming then followed inside runs throughout in the race won by Tiger O’Reilly last week. GIVITANAME (6) has won 11 of his 23 starts and finished fifth in a heat of the Winter Championship last outing. He has a tough draw but is very durable and must be respected. The South Australian visitor RABAHERO (1) is shooting for five straight victories and clearly outstayed his rivals at Globe Derby last outing. He is not a brilliant beginner so he is a chance of being headed off at the start but he is worth an investment. OUR CLASSIC JACK (5) is clearly the fastest beginner on the front line and grows a leg when he is able to lead so is a value chance. CAMPBELL WALLACE (7) led throughout and recorded fast time at Mildura two starts then had plenty in reserve but had no clear run at his latest seventh. His chances are reliant on RABAHERO (1) holding a forward position at the start but he is going too well to dismiss. IGNITE THE FUSE (5) pushed forward to find the lead last week but races best when he is able to find that position and might not be able to head off his rivals here. MOROCA (8) is resuming since March but was racing in great form when he was last in work and is a chance if he is somewhere near his peak. He gets into this race with a concession claim and he will prove hard to beat again. THE BEST SOUND (5) can mix his form on occasions but won brilliantly when starting from the handicap of 20m on May 01 and wasn’t suited behind Wattabout Jasper in very fast time last week. GALVIN STREET (7) is a short course specialist but couldn’t have drawn worse than the inside of the second line. He gained a nice trail throughout when third in a slick mile rate of 1.58.9 last week. LADY GUEST (1) ran around the field at a rapid rate to find the lead mid-race but tired from the 400m at her latest ninth. She is much better drawn for this assignment and is worth thought. He worked hard early before gaining a trail when sixth to Catlins Lord last week and gets into this race with a concession claim. KNIGHT ON THE VIC (11) made up late ground when sixth at Mildura last week and is an each way chance against this line up. A FEW TO MANY (2) ran an improved race when she trailed the leader, loomed up alongside the winner at the 300m and boxed on for second last week. She is drawn to receive a similar trail here and is not without a chance. TEMPORAL (3) had no luck whatsoever from a wide gate last week and possesses gate speed so an improved showing would not surprise from his good draw.
