Herald Sun Form Guide : June 25th 2009
50 Herald Sun, Thursday, June 25, 2009 + Moonee Valley Sprint Lane: Yes Daily Double: 5, 7 Quaddie: 4, 5, 6, 7. TAB CODE M H TOUCHTONE 22 1 Tabcorp Park 5 Jul 1.30 2100m. $5000. 3yo 3A1 Only RBD Mobile Hutchy says: TOTAL ASSET (1) is a handy filly who was an impressive Ballarat winner back in February and hasn’t had much luck in five runs this time in. She battled on well from the breeze when third to Four Wise Men at Ballarat two starts back, then weakened after a tough death seat trip there a fortnight ago at her latest run. From this alley, she’ll get a much softer trip and looks hard to beat. NO COVER CHARGE (5) is yet to miss a place in five starts, winning one of them. He came from well back when second to Amadmancomesundone at Bendigo back in February, then came from the rear for a last start second at Geelong later that month. He resumes off an unplaced effort in a recent Tabcorp Park trial. SLIPPINALONG (4) completes a trio of strong winning chances – he worked around them to sit outside the leader when beating Tormachtuga, a winner since, at Ballarat a couple of runs back, then battled on well from the breeze when third there last week. The other trio are also not without claims in what should be an interesting race. SELECTIONS: TOTAL ASSET (1), No Cover Charge (5), Slippinalong (4), Gunnas Rule (6). RATINGS: 1 / 4, 5? / 2, 3, 6. She finished third to Loving Life Lombo in the Tatlow final at the Valley two runs back, then covered ground in the final circuit when second to the talented Smiley Ella in a strong Ballarat affair a fortnight ago. COSMIC CRACKER (7) had the run of the race and out-finished them to break her maiden status at Ballarat last week and in this small field will be close enough to finish over the top of them. TZU TZU PETALS (4) has raced twice, both in a heat and final affair in May for a Kilmore third and a luckless unplaced effort at Bendigo. She’s been placed in a couple of recent Maryborough trials and has each way claims. The query runner is Riverina filly CHARLOTTE BREW (5) (Mach Three – Carnasserie), a David Eurell trained Kiwi bred who’s related to two winners. This stable usually has success in Victorian visits. The other first starter is SYMPHONIC JADE (3) (Strong Life – Symphonic Sue), a Geoffrey Allen trained filly who ran second in a slow recent Echuca trial. SELECTIONS: GLENFERRIE INN (2), Cosmic Cracker (7), Tzu Tzu Petals (4), Charlotte Brew (5). RATINGS: 2 / 7 /4 , 5? / 8. Care 3. She led when favourite and narrowly beaten in a similar race to this at Maryborough last week and looks close to a breakthrough. TOOLAMBORGHINI (10) finished okay when third at Warragul at her third race start, then flew late after being held up when fifth to Safely Loaded and KISS AND FLY (6) at Maryborough last time. She’s an obvious improver but draws awkwardly. MACH IS SUPREME (9) was also held up in the Maryborough affair – she showed ability with three good placings earlier this season and draws to sit just off them. GHADAS KOALA (11) ran last but was also blocked for a run in that Maryborough race but she has claims on 5 placings from 11 starts this season and is dropping in grade here. SELECTIONS: KISS AND FLY (6), Toolamborghini (10), Mach Is Supreme (9), Ghadas Koala (11). RATINGS: 6, 10 / 9 / 11 / 3 / 2. EMM HARVEY (2) won his fourth race for the season when leading most of the way at Ballarat last week and will be further improved by his two runs back from a long spell. FOUR WISE MEN (1) made it three wins for the season, the latest two of those at Ballarat, when he finished well from mid-field to account for the talented Good Time Jasper at Ballarat last week. He’s improving all the time and has the draw. THE COURAGE WITHIN (7) is another three time winner this term who didn’t have much luck in an unsuitable Cranbourne standing start affair last time. He ran a couple of good races at Super Sires level prior to that and has strong claims here, with the wide draw his only problem. The consistent LOOPY LULU (6), and LOOK IM FLYING (9), who impressively beat moderates at Geelong last time, look the other winning chances. SELECTIONS: EMM HARVEY (2), Four Wise Men (1), The Courage Within (7), Loopy Lulu (6). RATINGS: 1, 2 / 7 / 6, 9. He rates highly from this good alley. LEICITSAFE (4) showed gate speed to lead from barrier five when scoring nicely at Yarra Valley three starts back, then was wide to the breeze when a close second at Shepparton before drawing awkwardly on the second line and covering ground in the final circuit when a solid fifth in fast time to Dreams Of Heaven at Bendigo a fortnight ago. His chance will certainly be enhanced if he can cross and lead. LORD OF ABBEY (9) sat in the one-one and out-finished Allegra to score nicely at Yarra Valley last week and he comes in here as the clear third pick – well in front of last start winner of an easier race NITROUS OXIDE (2). T5 Or Better Trotters PBD Stand Hutchy says: A strong field of squaregaiters do battle here where RED SAMURAI (5) looks hardest to beat. He’s been going well but seems to find trouble in his races, as he did when checked after the start and flying home for fourth to La Biscuit in Friday night company here three weeks ago before coming from tailed off after a bad beginning when wide in the last lap and a close fifth at Ballarat last time to hot item Joe Bro. If he settles close enough, he’ll win. KYVALLEY MAC (3) is a more-than-handy gelding who ran second to stablemate Karamboo after a bad beginning in a strong Shepparton race two starts back, then came from well back for second, beaten narrowly by Look Here Bloke at Geelong last time. MAORI SUNSHINE (7) won four on end, the most recent of those when beating Karamboo and RIGHT INTEREST (8) in Friday night company here, before weakening slightly after working to the front from her back mark and third at Bendigo a fortnight ago. Forget her unplaced effort here last Friday night when wide in a fast last lap. THE WINDSURFER (4) resumes from a short break into a winnable race and has each way claims. SELECTIONS: RED SAMURAI (5), Kyvalley Mac (3), Maori Sunshine (7), The Windsurfer (4). RATINGS: 5 / 3 / 7 / 4? 8, 9, 10. He made good late ground when coming from well back for fourth to Wya Mya Macray and DHONI (5) at Ballarat last week and draws to lead this time. The query runner is former top Kiwi youngster AFTER THE RECKONING (4). He was prominent here at Breeders Crown level as a two and three year old but now a six year old, hasn’t won since scoring in a Breeders Crown heat at Maryborough in August 2006. He recently ran second in a Tabcorp Park trial and looks nicely graded here on his best form, albeit a long time ago. STEVE MCQUEEN (6) completes the hat trick when wide to the breeze and scoring as an odds-on favourite at Shepparton a month but only plodded when again at a short price and fourth at Bendigo at his latest run. Give him another chance. DHONI (5) preceded his placing at Ballarat with a solid third there and has each way claims. Whatever beats her here will win. The next best are handy mare REGAL VOLO USA (10), who disappointed when used mid-race last time, and ULTIMATE IMAGE (11), who hit the line well when a first up second in that same race at Ballarat last week. He’s won seven of nine, the latest of those at Moonee Valley three weeks ago beating Composed but he tired badly after an early speed burn at Bendigo last week as he did in his Moonee Valley run prior to his latest win, which makes him a vulnerable proposition. GRINNERSAWINNER (8) looked good in his debut standing start victory at Maryborough last week when heavily supported. He looks to have a big future. JACK HALL (10) is a Wagga trained colt who had consistent Riverina form before trailing wide in the last lap for an impressive Cobram victory a fortnight ago. He rates highly. The first starters are WAR EMBLEM (1) (Jennas Beach Boy – Sweet Connection), a Glenn Freeman trained gelding who recently won a slow Mooroopna trial; and DYNAMIC DIAMOND (6) (Life Sign – Lisdon Jane), a John Hallam trained gelding whose dam was a top racemare and has produced five winners from six previous foals – this fellow was beaten two metres by GRINNERSAWINNER (8) in a recent trial here. It will be harder here this time from the second line but she’ll be much fitter for that, her first run in more than a year and she has a good trailing draw. Ex-Kiwi KENSINGTON GARDENS (3) ran fourth at Invercargill at her only homeland start, then was easy in the betting when unplaced first up in Australia, here last Saturday night. She draws better this time and will be fitter. HONEYROSE (4) was runner up here and at Kilmore before finishing close up in a slowly run race here last weekend and will be able to make her own luck this time in a return to the front line. WHOODOO WOMAN (5) finished last on debut in her only run last season and was badly held up when resuming and unplaced at Maryborough last week. He sat in the breeze to win a low grade Kilmore affair second up from a long spell six weeks ago, then made a mistake when in the betting at Bendigo at his latest run. He’s trialled okay since and meets an average lot. ROSE EXPRESS (5) ran her second placing from 15 starts when a battling second to Amarooka Jazz at Cobram a fortnight ago and won’t get a better chance to win one. KILBURNIE MARY (10) was placed here in fast time in April and hasn’t had much go her way in four runs since. She looks the other winning chance with an honourable mentions to RUNNING SOLO (12), who’s done nothing in four runs so far but did win a recent trial at Cobram. An odds-on favourite at Bendigo last week, he led and set solid sectionals when cut down late by On Fire, will find this race a lot easier, and is probably a better horse when driven from behind. IMA GIFT (9) found the lead when a Bendigo winner two runs back, then worked hard to the top when cut down late by Mister Miriam at Kilmore at his latest run. He’s racing in top form. CARRIGDHOUN (10) won from the breeze at Wagga before a luckless fifth when caught wide at Maryborough, then found trouble and fought on well when fifth in a strong Bendigo affair at his latest start. He made it three wins for the season when sitting mid-field and making ground wide out in a 28.3 third split before out-staying a handy field at Bendigo last week, and is going well enough to overcome his wide draw in what looks a slightly easier race. BETTOR STILL (9) was wide to the breeze to win at Kilmore ten days ago, then weakened slightly after being driven in similar fashion when favourite and a close fifth here last weekend. AWESOME ACHIEVER (6) was a Nyah winner from three runs last season and is a well bred Russell Jack trained colt who resumes off a recent Shepparton trial placing. The other major winning chance belongs to CARD PLAYER (10), who sat in the one-one when outfinishing them at Yarra Valley last week - his fourth trip to the races. SELECTIONS: ARTORIUS (7), Bettor Still (9), Awesome Achiever (6), Card Player (10). RATINGS: 7 / 6? 9, 10 / 3, 8. SUGGESTED BET: ARTORIOUS (7) to win. He ran second and fourth respectively in the Super Sires 3YO series at the Valley this time last year old before Ballarat and Moonee Valley successes but hasn’t started since running second at Geelong eleven months ago. STARPICKET OSTI (8) flashed home from back in the field when second to ISLAND STORM (9) at Cobram a fortnight ago before trailing wide in the last lap for a tough Wagga victory last Sunday. If the favourite leads, she’s likely to be sitting right on his back. ISLAND STORM (9) is in career best form and won his fifth race for the season at Cobram. He draws to sit just off the pace and is sure to be a threat. KING OF BLING (12), a stablemate of SARUM PRINCE (1), is an inconsistent but talented 4YO who’s four races this season and 11 of 35 overall. Rate him highly. SELECTIONS: SARUM PRINCE (1), Starpicket Osti (8), Island Storm (9), King Of Bling (12). RATINGS: 1 / 8, 9 / 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12. He ran second to Conaroyal in the Super Sires final at the Valley three starts back, then was an easy Cranbourne winner before making an early mistake when favourite in the Holmfield a the Valley last time. A recent blistering 2:00.1 Tabcorp Park trial win indicates his readiness for this. MY MATE CLAUDY (4) looked good in his first up Cranbourne success recently and is the main danger with each way chances to talented but unreliable filly SUPER PETITE (1) and the well bred MAORI VACATION (3), who’s done nicely in both runs so far.
