He’ll be hard to beat here. LOMBO LUMBER JACK (1) is one paced gelding who races tough as he did when third here to Gloria Lombo from the breeze here a fortnight ago, before a fourth from the “death” in the final of that race last week to Miss Laura Jane. From the pole he has a chance of leading and will be mighty hard to run down if he does. TRANQUIL ODYSSEY (5) is racing in career best form. Although she’s only won a Geelong race (four starts back) from 35 starts this season, her latest effort when making two moves and a close second to Miss Laura Jane here shows she’s close to a win at this level. HARRY WALTON (6), a Kilmore winner four starts back, was noticed running home strongly when fifth here a fortnight ago, then had no luck from an awkward second line draw at Shepparton last week. He has claims along with SINGASONGASIXPENCE (8), who showed improvement to win that race at Shepparton where he made a mid-race move before taking the one-one, fighting on well. Best of the others is VILLAGE PUNGEE (12), who was luckless in back-to-back placings here before being locked away when sixth to Miss Laura Jane here last week. Whatever beats him will win. IN PURSUIT (11) is a talented ex-Kiwi who’s won 8 of 13 this season with three placings. He worked hard when second from the breeze here back in March, was sent for a short break after weakening when a short priced favourite on this circuit, then resumed with an effortless all the way Harold Park victory last week when heavily supported. GLUTEUS MAXIMUS (3) is a tough mare who’s won six races this season and comes off a death seat back mark second at Bendigo and a solid third here last week at this level when making two moves and flashing home late. SPEEDY NAOMI (5) made a mistake from the stand here last week and looks much better suited from the mobile this time – she has exceptional gate speed. Ratings: 6 / 3, 11 / 5 / 2. She spent last season mixing it with the top filly Ananz and hasn’t had much luck this season winning 3 of 14 and hasn’t had much go her way in some of the bigger races. She knuckled down really well to out-stay Queen Of Fire in the “Princess Of The Wimmera” at Horsham last week and looks now to be at her absolute best. KEPPEL BAY (6) won her first race for the season when sitting wide and out-toughing a handy field at Terang before making a mistake at Horsham last time behind AY TEE EM (3) when she looked a winning chance on the home turn. She’s a classy animal who won the 2YO APG Final last season. DREAMS OF HEAVEN (2) is up there with out best fillies – she’s won 11 of 21, the latest of those victories a soft all the way Bendigo success a fortnight ago. That trio rate clearof the improving SAFELY LOADED (1), who finished well from the rear to score at Maryborough last week - she has the gate speed to use her pole line draw. MELPARK MAJOR (2) has proved himself the best horse in the land this season and it was a crying shame to see him injured and forced to abort an Inter Dominion campaign. He’s won 14 of 20 over the past two seasons and comes off a Miracle Mile second to Divisive back in November, and a near track record Victoria Cup victory last December. He’s had three trials with a second to DECORATED JASPER (1) at Tabcorp Park, followed by a defeat of that fellow there last week and won’t be far off his best. He has tremendous gate speed and is the likely leader. DECORATED JASPER (1) was outstanding in the early part of this season but was below his best during his Inter Dominion campaign which wound up with a placing in the Consolation, three months ago. He rated 1:57.6 in his Tabcorp Park trial victory over MELPARK MAJOR (2) before running that fellow to a head in a trial there last week and has the advantage of an inside draw. SMOKEN UP (4) is another who cost himself running at our Summer Carnival with a few problems earlier this season, and he wasn’t quite on his best for the Inter Dominion, but his runs since have been outstanding and he’s won a hat trick of Free For Alls on this circuit in recent times. He has a fitness advantage on his two main rivals here but is likely to be sitting in the breeze outside one of them. The blowout runner is OUR MALABAR (3), who finishes well off a solid pace and is another with fitness on his side. Ratings: 2 / 1, 4 / 3 / 6. She was having her first start since a failure in the Super Sires 4YO Mares final here six weeks ago when an easy all the way Menangle winner a couple of Sundays back, where she flew over the mile trip in 1:56.3. She’ll lead here and whatever beats her will win. SOPHIE PASS (5) watched her rivals pressure each other in the Enduro here last week and came with a late run to score an impressive victory over the talented Karlsruhe. She’s won 11 of 30 this season and back to mares’ class, will give this a mighty shake. GILT BROMAC (6) was a deserved winner here three weeks ago where she ran fast time and overcame a wide last lap before weakening late when third to Jazzam in a top race here last week when forced to do it tough in the breeze. If given an easy time in the early stages, she can come with a wet sail. WYPERFELD (3) was a longshot winner of the Super Sires Final here early last month and has been luckless in both runs since. She has an excellent each way chance. Best of the others are MISS LAURA JANE (7), who finished stoutly to win the final of a strong series here last week; MADDY SHEFFIELD (8), who made late ground to be placed on this circuit last week and looks likely to trail this favourite; and VERY CHIC (12), who’s well up to this level but doesn’t draw the best. SHARDONS ROCKET (3), who’s won one of his two standing start tries has won 9 of his last 17 and comes off a Nyah victory over Miss Laura Jane and a luckless and close third to Albert Jaccka at Ballarat last week, both of those from behind the mobile. MR CLANCY (7), who’s won seven races this term, was heavily supported in the Enduro last week but was hammered in the lead and understandably weakened. This is an easier race and he rates highly. BARACHIAS (10), who goes okay from the stand, won here three starts back, then sat outside and almost beat Albert Jaccka at Ballarat before a luckless fifth when wide in the last lap over the mile here last week. CCS LOVER (8) is a handy gelding who could be right behind these early with only one line of runners in front of him, and looks best of the others. Ratings: 3 / 7, 10 / 8 / 1? 2, 4, 6? He’s only won 2 of 26 this season but has been prominent in much better races than this and has hit top form recently with seconds at Geelong, and to Make Waves here, followed by a tough Ballarat victory over Barachias a fortnight ago when driven for the first time by Gavin Lang. He’s can come from the rear if need be and is the class runner of this field. JUST CALLME CULLEN (8) is a rising star who’s won five on end, the latest of those here early last month where he made a couple of moves and was strong at the finish. A free going type who isn’t drawn well for his style of racing, he certainly has the ability. MISTER GRIZZLY (4) is a speedster whose last victory was over top performers Broadway Play and Brooklyn Bute in all the way fashion at Bendigo back in December. He hasn’t started since a failure here on Hunter Cup night in February but usually goes well fresh and will give them something to chase if he crosses to the lead as expected. BULLEE BULLEE (7) looked good in a hat trick of victories here in May (beating ALBERT JACCKA (12) in one of those races) and there was nothing wrong with his last start FFA fourth to Smoken Up here a fortnight ago. He draws awkwardly but has enough speed to put himself into the race in the middle stages. ISLAND TANGO (5) came from the rear to score nicely here over the sprint trip two starts back, then was having his first run for five weeks when flashing home late for second here last week and is another who’ll race in a forward position Ratings: 12 / 4? 7, 8 / 5 / 1, 2, 3, 6. He beat Walton Van in a Ballarat claimer four starts back, then was runner up in an M2/M4 affair here before shaking clear too late when second here to PRINCE BONTON (10) a fortnight ago. He ran fourth in the Enduro last week and will appreciate his drop back in grade. MISTER DOUGLAS (5) has run on strongly in two recent runs here and has bright prospects of winning his first race in just on a year. PRINCE BONTON (10) made it a hat trick of victories in these claimers when leading all the way here a fortnight ago, that effort preceded by a success on this circuit over ROCKET WARRIOR (9) a month prior. A free running pacer, he’s not as well suited this time from the outside of the secon, but is the class factor. Each way chances to FOR GRANTED (1), BIG DOUG (2) and ROCKET WARRIOR (9), who’s resuming from a short break. Ratings: 6 / 5, 10 / 1, 2, 9? After beating Malibu Grin on this circuit a month ago, he was then cut down late by top liner Bells And Whistles on this circuit then finished stoutly to win a Super Sires heat at Bendigo last time. He draws awkwardly but has a class advantage on these and in this small field, shouldn’t settle too far off the lead. SHANGHI (1) made it two wins from only four starts when ,at her first run for five weeks, she slowed them up in the lead, then battled on well to beat a handy field at Yarra Valley last week. The likely leader again, she’ll be hard to run down. OUR UNIVERSAL RULER (4) won second up at Maryborough and has been unlucky in two runs since, when mid- field here and again at Ballarat last week. He has each way claims. ANTSINYAPANTS (2) is an improving type who’s also in the mix along with CROMBIE (3), who’ll be improved by two recent runs, and BOHEMIAN LOMBO (5), a Ballarat winner last month who was wide and not disgraced when fourth on that circuit last week.
