He took the eye with his fast finishing second in 1:56.8 to Mr Clancy here last Sunday and looks even better suited over the longer trip. SINGASONGASIXPENCE (7) was used a couple of times and still able to finish off in 27.7 when beating in-form horses Jaccka Clive and Vintage Jag at Shepparton two starts back, then unable to make an impression from well back in the field at the Valley last time. A return to the front line and the more spacious track, are just what he needs. HARRY WALTON (9) got home nicely when a close fifth to Village Pungee at the Valley a fortnight ago and is close to breaking through at this level. RADIO CITY (13) is a tough gelding who ran fast time when wide to the breeze and winning at Terang before galloping when in front and looking a winning chance at the Valley a month ago. He attempted a come-from-behind victory at Ballarat last week and was doing his best work at the finish when a gallant third LOMBO LUMBER JACK (6) hasn’t finished further back than fourth in four of these races at Moonee Valley recently and he’s sure to go forward and be handy all the way. A tough stayer, he has strong each way claims. Place chances at least to JACKSON STREET (4), OUR ENTRAPMENT (8) and CONJOLA BOY (11). Ratings: 12 / 7 / 6, 9, 13 / 11 / 4, 8. He’ll be further improved by that effort as it was his first run for more than a month. CILLAS EARL (7) has come from difficult handicaps to win back-to-back races at Bendigo recently and is cherry ripe for metropolitan company. He can run fast sectionals and will be suited by this long home straight. RED SAMURAI (6) has been giving away big starts and putting up some mighty efforts and if he consents to trot away anywhere near them, will play a big factor in the finish. LA BISCUIT (10) has been a little inconsistent of late – the run to go on is an impressive Moonee Valley all the way success two starts back - she didn’t have much luck there last time. That quartet rate clear of every other runner who have some winning hope, he best of them OLLIE NOVA (1) and CRESCENT GLORY (8). Ratings: 3 / 7 / 6 / 10 / 1, 8 / 2, 5, 9 / 4, 11, 12. She led when second to Jazzam in the Goffin Memorial at the Valley three starts back, then had no luck from a second line there in the Silver Chalice before trailing wide in the last lap when a close third in fast time to Village Pungee here last Sunday. TRANQUIL ODYSSEY (3) is bursting to break through at this level. Vallet seconds to MISS LAURA JANE (6) and when wide in the last lap to Village Pungee, were followed by a gallant sprint third to stablemate Mr Clancy in 1:56.8 here last weekend, and she’ll appreciate dropping back to mares class. Handy Tasmanian SPRING HILL (1) has shown good ability in visits here before and comes off a close FFA second at Launceston to Dontfencemein. She has gate speed and will probably take a trail and use the sprint lane. OURSANDYBEACH (2) was resuming from a break when she looked the likely winner in the home straight but was cut down late by Armbroosky at Charlton last week, draws much better this time and will be fitter for that run. CHRISTIAN MELODY (9) fought on well to beat the tough Waiona at Cranbourne ten days ago and is an underrated mare who’ll produce a strong finish from this good trailing draw. WYA MYA MACRAY (4) is in good form – she was luckless at the Valley last time and has each way claims along with MISS LAURA JANE (6), who beat TRANQUIL ODYSSEY (3) at the Valley three starts back; and PRINCESS DILINGER (8), who returned to winning form at Ballarat last weekend. SMOKEN UP (7) was able to bounce straight in front last week when he held off Decorated Jasper but there’s plenty of speed inside him this time and he’ll have to do plenty of work while SAMMY MAGUIRE (1) will probably take a sit and use the sprint lane. At their only meeting SAMMY MAGUIRE (1) was an unlucky second in the Mildura Cup back in April with SMOKEN UP (7) a death seat third and from the draw I have a feeling SAMMY MAGUIRE (1) can snap SMOKEN UP’s (7) winning streak. TI VOGLIOBENE (3) did well when third last Sunday to SMOKEN UP (7) after sitting behind him, and will be a big improver as that was his first run since finding trouble in the Hunter Cup back in February. YAKUZA (2), TI VOGLIOBENE (3), the speedy JAGGED KNIGHT (4) (resuming), and the ever consistent BOLD CRUISER (6), are also in the mix. Ratings: 1 / 7 / 3 / 6 / 2, 4? LADY BELLADONNA (2) is as tough as they come and has won five of her six starts. A first up all the way Charlton winner a fortnight ago, she drew awkwardly on the second line last week before arrogantly working to the breeze and was far too good for her opposition. ROCKNROLLA (11) also won her heat from the second line, making a wide move to the breeze and sprinting away at the end of a race which was run at pedestrian speed. With LADY BELLADONNA (2) the likely leader this time, ROCKNROLLA (11) will have to be every bit as good a stayer as we know she is, to conquer her rival. Best of the others is GLENFERRIE INN (5), who ran into traffic before finishing home well for second to LADY BELLADONNA (2) in her Semi-final while LOVING LIFE LOMBO (8), who out-sprinted ROCKNROLLA (11) and GLENFERRIE INN (5) to win the Tatlow at the Valley three starts back, will be looking for a soft trip along the sprint lane - she could be the blowout material once more. CHARLEYS DREAM (3) finished stoutly from the rear to beat Jaccka Clive at Cranbourne five weeks ago, then didn’t race for a month before again beating that fellow there last weekend, where he was three wide from the rear at the 1100 and fought on doggedly in a 57.9 last half. He’s racing in career best form and from this good alley, will be mighty hard to beat. MR CLANCY (4) put up a monster performance to sprint by them in the back straight and record an impressive sprint victory here last week where he rated a fast 1:56.8. A reproduction of that effort would see in the finish. UPWARD EVER UPWARD (5) is a Wagga trained gelding who’s done well in previous visits and showed he’s ready to win at this level when an all the way winner over fast class performer Bold Cruiser at Wagga three weeks ago. He was caught in the breeze when a 28.1 third split took its toll, finishing second at Wagga at his latest start. TEAR IT ALL AWAY (2) is a highly talented four year old who went well in the recent Vicbred Series at the Valley, then was wide in when winning there before a luckless and close fifth in the 4&5YO Championship. GILT BROMAC (6) is a classy mare whose recent form at the Valley has been terrific and she completes that quartet of winning chances. Ratings: 3 / 4 / 2, 5 / 6 / 1 / 8, 9. He won a $100,000 race at Albion Park three starts back, then was outs-printlaned narrowly by last weeks other Semi-final winner KAMWOOD JACK (2) in a Bendigo heat of this race before finding the lead in slow early time, then running his last mile in a brilliant 1:55.9 here last week. His main danger could be drawn right behind him. That fellow is PALAIS DU LOUVRE (8), who impressed in tough wins at Warragul and Kilmore before sitting three wide without cover for the last 1100 when a gallant second here last Sunday to KAMWOOD JACK (2). Expect to see him using the sprint lane in an attempt to run down this favourite. KAMWOOD JACK (2) followed his first up success over TWO EYE SEE (1) with a fast sprint lane finish to win clearly last week but he probably won’t be able to get in behind the leader this time. That being said, he’s racing as well as any of these and has a strong each way chance. BELLS AND WHISTLES (3), who’s won 8 of his 11, was gallant in defeat when wide in the final circuit and second to TWO EYE SEE (1) here last week and he, along with COMPOSED (4), who came from last for third in that race, look the other winning chances. GRINNERAWINNER (11), who was brilliant in his first two wins, was forced to do it tough in the breeze when fourth in that same Semi, but draws poorly with all his rivals likely to settle well in front of him. Ratings: 1 / 8 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 11 / 5. Suggested bet: Trifecta 1 and 8 to win, 1, 2, 8 for second and 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 11 for third. 8 Sky Racing Claiming Pace 10.12 2240m. $8000. PRINCE BONTON (6) was a Ballarat claiming winner in April, then beat ROCKET WARRIOR (4) at the Valley in May before leading all the way to hold off a late run from HENCHMAN (9) to win there a month ago. They met again at Moonee Valley a fortnight ago where PRINCE BONTON (6) drew the second line before working around to sit in the breeze and leading at the 300, when cut down late by HENCHMAN (9), who trailed wide from the rear in the final circuit. PRINCE BONTON (6) should be straight in front this time and HENCHMAN (9) will have to make his own luck from the back line. ROCKET WARRIOR (4), who split the pair last time, is a tough gelding who also has gate speed. He’s sure to race in a forward position and looks the clear third pick. Chances also to ALBY ALBERT (8), who was placed at the Valley, then luckless in the final of that series before finishing well from the rear for third in a strong race at Bendigo last weekend. FOR GRANTED (1) positions to fill a placing, with best of the others looking to be TOE TAPER (5), a former top liner who hasn’t been measuring up in stronger races of late. SLICK LAVRA (3) ran her best race this time in when wide from the rear in the final lap and a tough Kilmore winner last week, and she looks well graded and is drawn nicely. PERFECT KATIE (4) is a talented mare who won seven races earlier this season. Her form dropped away badly towards the end of her last preparation and she was spelled. She’ll improve vastly on her luckless first up Moonee Valley effort a fortnight ago. TWIRLING (7) hasn’t won for eight months but not been far away recently in much stronger races than this. She possesses a fast finishing sprint and in this small field, has the ability to get home from the rear. SMOOTH HAYLEY (2) ran third in a much stronger race than this to Secret Tender and Village Pungee at the Valley four starts back, them was luckless there in two runs before a handy standing start fourth at Maryborough last Monday.
