heraldsun.com.au Sandown Lakeside TODAY PROS TALKING Lisa Eskander BOOKMAKER JUSTSAY SUMTHINK (Sand R5 No. 2): Forget last start when she had no luck in much better grade than this. Prior she had won three in a row, and has never missed a place at this track and distance. Should get a great run on speed and will be very hard to beat. Brian Johnston TRAINER JAMRAAN(Sand R1 No. 6): Far better horse on dry ground but did run fourth in the National on the wet last year. He’s going better than at any stage this campaign. Fluker’s chance. PENTIFFIC (Sand R2 No. 2): Since Oakbank anything that could go wrong has. It’s not the horse’s fault. With ordinary luck he’ll be very hard to beat. Peter Healey TRAINER JUSTSAY SUMTHINK (Sand R5 No. 2): No luck last time. This suits, but I’d love some more rain for her. BELONGTOTEN(Sand R7 No. 8): Promising mare who loves very heavy tracks. If the rain comes, she’ll be right in it. MRSARGOOD(Sand R8 No. 1): Another of mine who loves it wet. I had him too fresh last time, but he’ll be better this week. Wet specialist: Silky Smooth has won on a Slow 7 at Sandown Lakeside and a Heavy 8 at Flemington. MIDNIGHT OIL with MATT STEWART TRACK: Heavy 8 PENETROMETER: 6.03 RAIL: True LAST MEETING: True, June 24 RAINFALL: 30mm for week RADAR: Rain developing can settle one-two and fight out the finish. Spirit Of Alaton raced too hard and looked in need of the run when faded behind Geeorb two starts back but was better with 68kg behind ZAGATA (3) last start. Meets that horse 2kg better and is the value runner. Geeorb is a relentless runner who can only be improved by first-up Valley win. FRENZILIAN (4) put in a couple of awkward ones late last start and should have finished closer. BROOKTON MIST (5) gave star Mazzacano a fright last start and is an improver. 1 HOT JOCKS ON-PACERS: Geeorb, Spirit Of Alaton. SWOOPERS: Zagata, Frenzilian, Brookton Mist. SUGGESTED BET: Quinella 9 and 1. 2 IN-FORM champion jockey Craig Williams is a short-priced favourite to take out today’s TAB Sportsbet Jockey Challenge at Sandown Lakeside. He has five rides and they all look to have a winning chance. THE MARKET $1.55 $3.50 $12.00 $17.00 $21.00 $23.00 $31.00 $10.00 Craig Williams Chris Symons Brenton Avdulla Ben Melham Ibrahim Gundogdu Dean Holland Steve Pateman Any other indiv. jockey 3 and first jumps run this time in, in the Australian Hurdle, was a bottler. Pateman conceded it was poor ride. Fitter and looks the assassin. PEN- TIFFIC (2) is almost wandering into ‘‘what excuse next?’’ territory. Was bolting in Australian Hurdle before clipped heels and lost rider and travelled like winner last start before late hiccup. Would win if everything went right but is a trouble magnet. DESTINY CALLS (1) is very honest. Has fair bit of weight but will be thereabouts. BLACK AND BENT (4) is genuine up-and-comer but prone to starting ‘‘skinny’’. ON-PACERS: Twirler, Pentiffic, Destiny Calls. SWOOPERS: Marc Of Thunder, Black And Bent. SUGGESTED BET: Marc Of Thunder to win. vourite on bottomless ground. Let down like Group horse at Flemington last start and will be strong the last 100m. Not sure wide gate will be a minus. RUSSIAN HEART (10) won on heavy at Ballarat but didn’t really handle it. Raced on-pace and kept GREAT race. Have to stick with ultra-impressive DENMAN (2) but beware the short-priced fa- SUSPECT the value runner might be MARC OF THUNDER (5). Always shown good ability PROMISES to be a dashing event and suspect SPIRIT OF ALATON (9) and GEEORB (1) giving last start. Can be placed. TRUE PERSUASION (19) really hit the line hard at Flemington. Stable- mate A BREATH OFSNOW(14) was strong on heavy at Cranbourne. STONEBLACK (4) is tough and hard, always a plus on heavy ground. SPIRITED HERO (11) looked good on debut but got miracle split and beat goats. 4 ON-PACERS: Charge Forward, Rus- sian Heart. SWOOPERS: Denman, Stoneblack, Spirited Hero, Genuine Stunner, A Breath Of Snow, True Persuasion. SUGGESTED BET: Something the place True Persuasion. SHIMMER (5). Soul Diva reads ‘‘0’’ last start but was beaten less than three lengths in top open class field and was cramped for room. Best mare in race, clearly. Handles wet. If track is bottomless, Pink Shimmer will go very close. Simply swims. WITH DECORUM (6) is flying and gets in with irresistible weight. Hard to see her missing out on a top three berth. CLANDON (4) will be closing late and PARTIVA (3) will give good on-pace kick. JUSTSAY SUMTHINK (2) is a chance but has been up a while and 5 THE BANKERS ON CLASS: GEEORB (Race 1 No. 1) DENMAN (Race 3 No. 2) ON VIDEO: SILKY SMOOTH (Race 6 No. 5) Flexi Quaddie: 1,5,6/5/ 1,2,6 / 3,8,10. $27 FOR $1 (100%) out. Overcame trouble to win on very heavy track at the Valley and was gusty at same track last start, splitting subsequent winners Awimoweh and Ishant. Mick Kent duo PEACE TREATY (3) and CHATHAM ROAD (5) have some claims as both are good on soft. Chatham Road started favourite in very good race at Bendigo last start and didn’t have a lot of luck. Can improve. APPREHEND (4) has very good soft stats. ON-PACERS: Eau De Joie, Lisas Lago, Apprehend. SWOOPERS: Peace Treaty, Cha- tham Road. SUGGESTED BET: Eau De Joie to win. Wide open. Looks to be reason- able speed up front which might suit SOUL DIVA (1) and PINK GIVEN the conditions, EAU DE JOIE (2) might be the safest option, especially with Swift Bay wonder if 1600m with 57.5kg might test. Risk, despite being on pet track. ON-PACERS: Justsay Sumthink, Partiva, Joontoo Gemini. SWOOPERS: Soul Diva, Clandon, Pink Shimmer, With Decorum. SUGGESTED BET: Given her feath- er weight, safest bet might be With Decorum the place. SMOOTH (5) is unbeatable. Charge to the fixed-odds desk and gobble up the $3.30. Needed the hit-out first-up when top effort. Wins through class, lack of pressure and lack of opposi- tion. AMERRYKING (9) loves wet and is drawn to swoop wide late. IN THESHADOWS(1) is honest and not badly in after claim. ON-PACERS: Silky Smooth, Zupaone. 6 SWOOPERS: In the Shadows, Mon- dano. SUGGESTED BET: Rob a bank and have the lot on Silky Smooth. 7 is off and they’re getting wide, RUBI- JON (1) is the one. Red Buttons gave a good kick at Flemington but was rolled late by in-form Pacino, who bolted in again the following week. Rubijon has been flying all winter but running into traffic. Winter Final effort was super. Will come late with giant bounds. DAKA’S GEM (2) is a superior mud-runner who can improve sharply. Won Ballarat Cup in bog. BELONG TO TEN (8) is prob- ably outclassed but is a seahorse. ON-PACERS: Red Buttons, Brito- mart. Reckon RED BUTTONS (6) might chug along up front and take some catching, but if the rail 8 SWOOPERS: Rubijon, Daka’s Gem. SUGGESTED BET: Quinella 1 and 6. chance drawn in and behind wall at Flemington. Drawn out here, will swoop hard late. Loves Lakeside. FASMOSS (10) is up in class but down in weight and will swoop hard. Ditto GREAT WALL OF CHINA (8), who has won twice on heavy. MR SARGOOD (1) and TOLKA ROCK (4) will race on pace. Some chance SCENIC SCENE (2) but won funny race in Sydney last start. ON-PACERS: Tolka Rock, Mr Sar- good. SWOOPERS: Ma Shang, Fasmoss, Great Wall Of China. SUGGESTED BET: Ma Shang win. THE speed will be on and they’ll be swooping. Very keen on MA SHANG (3) who was never a GIVEN reasonable ground (not totally bottomless) and no rank bias (e.g. mad swoopers) SILKY HERALD SUN SUPERFORM LIFTOUT THE MAIL Adrian Dunn STAND-OUT GEEORB(Sand R1 No.1) is a quality fencer who has won the Crisp Steeplechase. Showed with his strong all-the-way win at Moonee Valley last start that he’s back to his best and extra distance is in his favour. Matt Stewart RUNNING DOUBLE Take the moral of the day, SILKY SMOOTH(R6 No. 5), in a running double into RUBIJON (R7 No. 1) andREDBUTTONS(R7 No. 6). Adam Hamilton ALL-UP Sure he’s been costly, but this is the time for PENTIFFIC (R2 No. 2) to stand-up. Small field suits. Take him into an all-up with the exciting DENMAN(R3 No. 2), who looks a standout in the third. Michael Manley PARLAY Looks to be a program where winners are easily found. Take a Formula 2 and 3 ofDENMAN(R3 No. 2), JUSTSAY SUMTHINK (R5 No. 2) and SILKYSMOOTH(R6 No. 5).
