Every runner has a winning chance and positions in the run will be vital for most. LADY OCTAVIA (12) has been placed here at her latest three starts and is the form horse but draws poorly. He latest effort when third to Sophie Pass and Kept For Pleasure in the Silver Chalice here was a terrific effort as she flashed home from miles back. GODINE DELIGHT (8) ran second in the Tontine final to Jaccka Sandy last time and grades well at this level but may be buried back on the pegs from this alley. STATUS SEEKER (6) comes off seconds at Horsham from the breeze to Franco Newsman, and at Geelong eleven days ago where he was wide in the last lap and narrowly beaten in fast time. DAVIDS LADY (2) should have the run of the race from this draw and has each way claims along with ELITE PROSPECT (4), who’s racing in the best form of his brief career; SCANLON (7), who won one of these races here three starts back and sat in the breeze when beating the smart Potenza at Kilmore last time; TICKLE THE FALCON (9), a tough Kilmore winner at his latest run; and stablemates TSUNAMI LOMBO (10), who won similar beating LADY OCTAVIA (12) here two starts back, and LEND US A SCORE (11), who was luckless in that race. He’s a highly talented four year old who rated 1:58.4 in a Maryborough trial win last weekend and from a trailing draw this time, is likely to circle them and put the pressure on from the breeze, a position from where he races well. THE GUNSTAR (4) was a big improver to win at Warragul last week when wide in the last lap and strong at the finish. He has gate speed and draws to be prominent. TRANQUIL ODYSSEY (1) has been in terrific form with a trio of placings at this level followed by a battling sixth at Tabcorp Park to Very Chic last weekend, where she didn’t race with quite the same sparkle. From the pole and with her usual fast beginning, she’ll be hard to beat. CCS LOVER (2) won at Shepparton and was placed from the stand here before finishing just behind the placegetters in strong fields in her latest three outings. He only battled when fifth to Mr Clancy at Tabcorp Park a fortnight ago but that was a much stronger field. HARRY WALTON (5), who’s been luckless recently, and NO ENCORE (7), who ran second here to Barachias before disappointing at Ballarat, look the other two winning chances. Ratings: 9 / 4 / 1, 2 / 5, 7. ART TRADER (4) is a tough and talented four year old who’s won 11 of 39 and 7 of 19 this season. He worked to the lead when scoring well in a Bendigo stand a couple of runs back, then was wide to sit outside the leader when a gallant fourth in a fast 1:56.8 sprint affair at Tabcorp Park a fortnight ago. The opposition here isn’t quite as strong. MOHICAN PRINCE (1) is in a purple patch of form winning four of his latest five runs. He trailed wide from the rear to score nicely at Charlton two starts back, then had the run of the race and sprinted quickly to beat Spider Nelson at Kilmore at his latest run. From this alley he’ll either lead or use the sprint lane. WAIKAWA BAY (3) is an honest Peter Tonkin trained gelding who was impressive in a tough Maryborough stand success in fast time at his latest run, and the Tonkin team is really firing at the moment. WAIONA (8) sat in the breeze to score at Cranbourne two starts back, then attempted the same when cut down late by the in-form Christian Melody there three weeks ago. From this good trailing draw, he’ll be handy enough in the run . Ratings: 4 / 1 / 3 / 8. Suggested bet: ART TRADER (4) to win. VILLAGE OF DREAMS (6) beat Living On Fire in the Australian Derby at Launceston back in April, then was second in a heat to VILLAGEM (9) and to Garnet River in a Semi-final before his sixth in the Final of the Super Sires at the Valley in May/June. He produced an outstanding first up for five weeks Bendigo success last Saturday night when he flashed home from four back the pegs to beat a strong field. It was an impressive effort and he can only improve on that run. ULTIMATE UNDER FIRE (3), who Gavin jumps off to drive VILLAGE OF DREAMS (6), comes off back-to-back seconds at this level, here when wide in the last lap and cut down late by MISTER ZION (7), and again when beaten by that same horse when flashing home late from near last to be narrowly beaten in a track record 1:56.8 at Tabcorp Park. VILLAGEM (9) won Heat, Semi-final and Final of the Super Sires, the latter two of those races here beating Living On Fire, then was first up for a month when driven differently to his normal pattern – sitting in the breeze in the fast run Tabcorp Park affair a fortnight ago when favourite and weakening in the home straight. MISTER ZION (7), who won that race, made it five on end there and he’s an outstanding talent, but may be vulnerable this time from the wide alley. MONTE CARLO LOMBO (1) is a consistent colt who’s raced six times for three wins and two placings. A first up second to Mach Twain after a wide tripat Cranbourne was followed by an easy Shepparton success last time, where he led and finished off in 28.0. He’ll give plenty of cheek from the pole. OUR WHITE KNIGHT (5) has won four races this season and comes off a luckless fourth here to MISTER ZION (7) and an easy all the way Warragul victory where he scorched the last quarter in 27.4. She won the Ladyship Cup here four starts back, the Goffin Memorial beating VERY CHIC (7) two starts back, then was badly shut-in in a Tabcorp Park affair a fortnight ago. She hasn’t the gate speed to lead these but with an expected hot pace, the field should open up enough for her to produce her trademark fast finishing sprint. DEANNA TROY (2) has been Australia’s best mare this season. She won the Ladyship Mile at Harold Park and the George Johnson in Tasmania last year along with the City Of Launceston Cup, was considered good enough to run the Hunter Cup where she began badly, but hasn’t started since finishing a death seat fourth to VERY CHIC (7) in the Ian Daff Memorial here in April. SOPHIE PASS (6) won a strong stand here, then was outstanding in her victory over Kept For Pleasure in the Silver Chalice here three weeks ago and she rates highly. It doesn’t end there with top mare BROADWAY PLAY (8) (resuming) and PACIFIC CHARM (9), who beat some of Australia’s best younger horses in the 4 & 5YO Championship last time also returning from a break. DILINGER GIRL (3), MESMERIZING (4), GILT BROMAC (5), VERY CHIC (7) and CHRISTIAN MELODY (10) are also in the mix. Ratings: 1 / 2? / 6, 9 / 8? / 4, 5 / 3, 7, 10. He was forced to work overtime when a close sixth there last week and will find this race a lot easier. VILLAGE WARRIOR (7) won from the stand and from the mobile here before disappointing in the Enduro here last time, but has had a break since and looks nicely suited on his best ability. SHARDONS ROCKET (1) won at this level here, then was luckless at Bendigo last time. He has each way claims along with HENCHMAN (8), who’s been in hot form in claimers and is well up to this class, and KARLSRUHE (11), who ran on well in the closing stages when fifth to Bold Cruiser in a Tabcorp Park FFA last week. Second in the Victoria Derby back in February, she won the Victoria Oaks four starts back, then won Heat, Semi-final and Final of the Vicbred Super Sires. Her performance in that final here seven weeks ago was outstanding as she raced wide from a second line draw and was far too good. She prepped for this with a fast Cranbourne trial victory last weekend, and with the scratching of top Kiwi filly Lauraella, comes from barrier two on the second line and follows out the early speed. The Ballarat Oaks Trial last week was won by KEPPEL BAY (4), who came with a well timed run to beat QUEEN OF FIRE (1), who’d led, then handed up. They’re both in strong form and have excellent claims in this stronger race. LIFE INTHEFASTLANE (3) won a Semi-final, then was luckless when fifth in the Final of the Super Sires to BROADWAYS BEST (9) here before impressively winning at Kilmore ten days ago - her first run for six weeks. She has gate speed and draws to use it. Next best is DREAMS OF HEAVEN (6), who beat KEPPEL BAY (4) here before a close third when every chance in the Ballarat Oaks Trial. Other horses also in the mix are ELIXIR (5), who hasn’t raced for some time but has been up there with our best this season; AY TEE EM (11), who’s racing well but drawn awkwardly; and ANANZ (12), who’d been way below her two year old form of last season before running a monster race for fourth in the Ballarat Oaks trial before her regulation victory in Adelaide last weekend. Still a maiden, she ran the best race of her career when doing plenty of work and fifth to Rocknrolla in a fast 1:58.4 Super Sires Final at Tabcorp Park last weekend. She has gate speed and will be prominent over this short trip. BALLANDELLA BABY (6) came from last when fourth in that Super Sires Final in what was a top effort. prior to that, she’d won a heat of that series at Shepparton and run second to Rocknrolla in her Semi-final. Against her is her wide draw and the fact that she’s a one-paced staying type and not that well suited over the sprint journey. Each way chances to COSMIC CRACKER (1), an honest filly who draws perfectly; IM A HAPPY GIRL (7) a Wagga winner at her only start; and CHARLOTTE BREW (8) and CLANCY ROSE (9), who fought out a strong race at Kilmore last time with victory going to the latter on disqualification of the original winner. He was runner up in strong efforts from wide alleys three times on end before a solid Kilmore standing start success last Monday when missing away before working to the lead. He’s been in top form from awkward draws and finally gets an alley. CONJOLA BOY (3) took the eye with a fast finishing fourth to Jilliby Prince in fast time at Tabcorp Park last weekend and will enjoy his return to the front line. LOMBO LUMBER JACK (6) worked extremely hard in the breeze in that same race last week and was coming back strongly on the line to go down by a head. He’s overdue a win at this level and will certainly be serving it up to whatever leads. The other main winning chances are FIRE IT UP (5), who looks good when wide to win at Mildura before having no luck at Nyah during the week; and SLICK LAVRA (9), who was a solid Kilmore winner off a wide last lap before running third at Tabcorp Park last week in a race that wasn’t run to suit.
