A talented youngster, he won a Cranbourne mobile four starts back, then sat in the breeze when a gallant second to Down Under Muscles at Shepparton before a solid third in a Bendigo mobile. He was knocked down in a Derby heat at Bendigo at his latest run and looks nicely off here against much easier opposition than what he’s been meeting. The only query is that he’s never raced from the stand. FIERY CHIP (5) was placed from the stand at Geelong back in April and has finished just behind the placegetters in strong mobiles recently, the latest when fifth at Maryborough last week. VEE SALUTE (4) is an honest youngster who’s best off from the stand – he was placed at Maryborough three starts back and is another dropping in grade. The other major winning chance is RED HOT SPECIAL (9), who was close up in a Derby heat at Bendigo last time. SELECTIONS: MY MATE CLAUDY (8), Fiery Chip (5), Vee Salute (4), Red Hot Special (9). An ex-Kiwi who won at Winton back in April, he was having his first Aussie start and first run for two months when working from a wide back row draw in the last lap and beaten narrowly by Ubringthedrinks at Horsham last week, will be fitter and looks nicely graded. NO MACHN AROUND (4) (gets Alford) was heavily backed from the second line when a debut fourth at Warragul a fortnight ago where he sat in the one- one, ran off on the home turn and was doing his best work at the finish. He’ll benefit from that outing and has the draw. DYNAMIC DIAMOND (5) has been placed in two of three so far, they being when a debut third at Shepparton to Grinnersawinner, an unplaced Tabcorp Park Semi Final of the Super Sires effort, and a solid Nyah third last week when wide to the breeze and boxing on well to be narrowly beaten. SIR SWANKY (7) sat in the breeze and fought on well when second at Shepparton last time and has each way claims along with THATCERTAINFEELING (6), who didn’t have much luck at Geelong last week; and LILLA (8), who won a Kilmore stand last Monday. An all the way Echuca winner three starts back, she had five weeks between runs before a close Shepparton third to Just Bluffing, then didn’t have much luck in the home straight when fifth in a strong Moonee Valley 4YO affair to Lady Octavia last Saturday night. STARCRAZY (4) was placed in a Tabcorp Park non-Tab affair three starts back, held up when favourite in a race at Shepparton after that, then led and knocked up to run last over the longer trip at Kilmore at his latest start. He’ll lead here and may be hard to catch over the sprint trip. JUST LIKE SID (8) is a dual winner this season who’s been unplaced in both runs since resuming but will be fitter, and he should settle close to the lead from this trailing draw. IMA GIFT (7) is in career best form with Bendigo and Shepparton victories at two of his three most recent starts. He led when cut down late by winner since Mister Miriam at Kilmore two runs back, then finished well to score last time at Shepparton a month ago. He draws awkward but Caldow should find him a decent spot in this smallish field. MASCARPONE (8) was resuming from a short break when he led and was cut down late by Only Mccool and Our Madagascar, a winner since at Nyah last week, will be fitter and she rates well against these. She’s bred to be good and is starting to realize her earlier potential. PUERTO BONUS (11) ran two big races when coming from the rear for second in a Ballarat mobile three starts back, then in an Ararat stand from this mark when wide in the last lap and beaten a length by winner again since, Shadon. Forget her latest run when unplaced in the Final of the Tontine at Geelong. This is probably the easiest field he’s met this term and he has strong prospects of leading all the way at his first run for five weeks. COBARGO MAGIC (6) is a handy mare who made it 11 wins from 33 starts in an Echuca mobile last week. Three starts back, she won on this circuit from the stand and is a worthy rival to the pole-marker. KOKODA COURAGE (8) looked in need of the run when a battling fifth when first up and favourite at Geelong last week and, a three time winner this season, he’ll be improved by the outing and should get the run of the race behind this favourite - watch for him in the sprint lane. WOR JACKIE (7) was returning from a short beak when working hard in the run and a close second to Allweevneed at Stawell a fortnight ago and this 24 start maiden, who’s been placed seven times, gets his chance to break through. IT HAPPENS A LOT (1) is a speedy mare who’s likely to lead. She’s come from behind for recent fourths in stronger company at Maryborough and Cranbourne. SHOWBOAT CASEY (4) is a prolific placegetter who rarely wins, but is the upset material if there was to be one. DALLAS CRYSTAL (2), and CHESTER CANNONBALL (9) are resuming a should be kept safe. A lightly raced four year old, he has a touch of quality about him and looks extremely well served against these. JIM GEE FLETCHER (9) had the run of the race when unable to cut down in the in-form Shadon at Maryborough last Sunday, that following a luckless fifth at Stawell. He’s never far away in these races and looks the main danger to this favourite. MAKE THE CUT NZ (8) was a heavily supported favourite when resuming at Charlton three weeks ago but galloped after the start and was tailed off. He’s yet to go around safely in four starts so far but has obvious ability and perhaps the mobile will help. JACCKA SANDY NZ (7) won a Semi Final, then Final of the Tontine series at Geelong, finishing off in 56.3 in that Final, then he impressed when coming from an awkward second line draw to flash home and score at Geelong last time over the unsuitable mile journey. Gavin jumps back on board here and a forward showing can be expected. BIGBANG NITRO NZ (6) won a Tontine heat at Ballarat in all the way fashion, then was wide when unplaced in the final before having the run of the race but pulling too hard when second to Show Me Amber at Horsham last week. He looks nicely suited here in this easier race. OUR SAND FLY NZ (8) is a Glenn Douglas trained gelding who worked hard in the last lap when a close second to Cobargo Magic at Echuca last week and he should get a soft trip drawn behind the likely leader. JILLIBY PETE (7) ran a solid third to Show Me Amber when wide in the last circuit at Horsham last week and should find a spot in the running line this time in this smaller field. The query runner is LOLA BROMAC NZ (1), who won a string of races late last season and looked Moonee Valley bound but her two runs before going for a spell were ordinary and she only battled when a first up sixth at Horsham last week. She draws to be out in front here – her favourite spot. Handy mares RYTHM OF THE PRIDE (2), ALBERTS ROSE (3) and VERDANT (4) are also in the mix. SELECTIONS: JAZZEE VALENTINE NZ (9), Bigbang Nitro Nz (6), Our Sand Fly Nz (8), Jilliby Pete (7). RATINGS: 6, 9 / 1? 7, 8 / 2, 3, 4. C0 Only PBD Mobile Hutchy says: A low grade race where MY GEORGIE GIRL (5), who gets Kerryn, gets a chance to win her first race in a year. She hasn’t been far away in three runs from a spell against better than these, the latest when wide at Geelong in a much stronger field last week. THE FONZE (2) ran his first placing from nine starts with a come-from-behind third at Ballarat a fortnight ago and looks next best, with CAMINO HERITAGE (7) having a chance on his Cranbourne second three starts back – he wasn’t disgraced when wide and fourth at Echuca last week. JOHN CREASY (4) and TRANQUIL DYNASTY (6) are also in the mix. SELECTIONS: MY GEORGIE GIRL (5), The Fonze (2), Camino Heritage (7), John Creasy (4). RATINGS: 5 / 2, 7 / 4 / 6.
