Herald Sun Form Guide : July 30th 2009
+ 46 Herald Sun, Thursday, July 30, 2009 + Charlton Sprint Lane: Yes Daily Double: 5, 7 Quaddie: 4, 5, 6, 7. TAB CODE P H TOUCHTONE 26 1 Eric Cattlin 2YO 12.35 Second Line 8 46377 REASONS TO SMILE 9 7 1306 NINEGRANDSONS 4 36s53 JINGLING SILVER 5 6 2 3 4d0 THE NIGHT WIND 89 AVID Hutchy says: NINEGRANDSONS (7) is a handy youngster who was a debut winner at Geelong last month, then a luckless third at Bendigo before galloping twice at Kilmore. At Maryborough last week, he was looking for a run on the home turn and full of running but made a mistake and that cost him a win. FLAMBUANT (9) has raced twice for an unplaced Kilmore effort and a solid second at Maryborough a fortnight ago where she worked to the early lead and was cut down late. She’ll be much improved and has strong claims. The Chris Lang trained KYVALLEY ROY (10) made a mistake when debuting in that same Maryborough affair and finished tailed off, but he was heavily supported and has obvious ability. Best of the others is JINGLING SILVER (4), who ran on nicely when third in that same Maryborough race last time and draws best of the winning chances. The first starter is THEBESTKEPTSECRET (3) (Conch Deville – Pee Wee Fifty), a Maree Cross trained gelding who qualified when second in a Kilmore trial early last month. SELECTIONS: NINEGRANDSONS (7), Flambuant (9), Kyvalley Roy (10), Jingling Silver (4). RATINGS: 7 / 9, 10 / 4 / 3? / 1? 2. She had the run of the race and broke through for her maiden success at start number 52 when beating Eleanor Eden at Stawell three weeks ago, then used the sprint lane when beaten a head by that mare in the final of that affair at Maryborough at her latest run. She switches to the mobile this time but has handled the gate in the past. THE MONSIGNOR (9) races best from the mobile – he was wide in the last lap when a solid mobile third at Cranbourne two starts back before beginning badly last time in a Shepparton stand. He’s trialled well since at Bendigo. KEYSTONE CROWN (3) hasn’t been far away in stronger races recently and draws to break her maiden status at start number 17. Each way chance to WINDY DAWN (6), who sat in the breeze when a solid death seat third here last week. The first starter is JUST GINDIN (5) (Malhana Gindin – Zillah Just Intime), a Peter Sanderson trained six year old gelding who’s related to two winners. SELECTIONS: MAGGIE TRUSCOTT (8), The Monsignor (9), Keystone Crown (3), Windy Dawn (6). RATINGS: 8, 9 / 3 / 6 / 4 / 5? SHEZ A LOOKA (9) used the sprint lane when a close second to the in-form Lornabelle at Maryborough, then finished close up in a race that was only a sprint home at Tabcorp Park a fortnight ago. They were her only two runs from a spell and she’ll be further improved. Stablemate SONJAS LEGACY (4) sat in the breeze to win at Ballarat, then again was outside the leader and led on the home turn when a close third there last week. THREE CARD BRAG (6) hasn’t started since finishing third in a stronger race than this at Geelong a couple of months back and grades well at this level. Each way chance to BRITTANY ANNA (8). She came from well back when third at Bendigo three starts back, then again trailed from the rear when third over this trip at Echuca before making late ground when sixth against better than these over the unsuitable sprint trip at Bendigo last week. The long home straight here will suit her finishing burst and the engagement of Daryl Douglas is significant. Improver WOR JACKIE (8) comes off placings at Stawell and here last week with each way claims. MANOU (10) did it tough when fifth against better than these at Bendigo last week and has claims. ADDA SURPRISE (7), has been placed in 4 of 15 and resumed off a Bacchus Marsh trial placing last weekend. This is not a strong field. A dual winner earlier this season, she’s had two runs from a break for placings at Nyah, and here last week when wide in the last lap and a fast finishing second to Ima Gift. DENVERSCENT (3) is in career best form. She flashed home from near last to score nicely at Ballarat a fortnight ago, then made two moves and battled on solidly when third at Bendigo last week. IT HAPPENS A LOT (4) broke through for an overdue win when leading and running a fast last quarter to beat moderates over the middle distance here last week, and as the likely leader over the mile trip, will be hard to run down. Chance also to EASTWOOD COUNTESS (10), who’s been close up in all recent starts and hit the line well when fifth at Yarra Valley last week. SELECTIONS: MASCARPONE (6), Denverscent (3), It Happens A Lot (4), Eastwood Countess (10). RATINGS: 6 / 3, 4 / 8, 9, 10 / 5. TROJAN LUCK (7) is becoming a nightmare for punters. He has talent but hasn’t really produced his best in three runs this time in; they being when running inside the pegs and disqualified at Tabcorp Park four weeks ago, then trailing the leader and every chance when third as an odds-on favourite at Moonee Valley, and last week at Tabcorp Park where he led, then took a sit but dropped out after pulling hard. He seems to race best when sitting outside the leader and may be there this time. WAINGARO GRANDVIEW (3) had the run of the race to win at Yarra Valley last week and is racing in career best form. He looks the clear third pick in the race, with a chance also to SIRNELSON OF ASCOT (4). SELECTIONS: MELBOURNIAN (1), Trojan Luck (7), Waingaro Grandview (3), Sirnelson Of Ascot (4). He’s had two tries from the stand and won one of them. GO MILO (7), who’s never been placed in five standing start tries, impressed when a fast finishing Yarra Valley winner last week and has bright prospects here if he can step away with them. EVALIEN (1) was an improver when he led out and took a sit when narrowly beaten in an Echuca stand before a luckless and close fifth from the mobile here last week. THRUTHEBIGSTICKS (9) won here from the mobile, then didn’t have much go his way when third from the stand at Echuca last time and a more aggressive drive here should see him in the finish. The improving THREE BLADES (1); handy colt ISLAND BRAVE (5); Derby heat placegetter INDIGO BAY (6); and top colt FRANCO NEWSMAN (8) who’s disappointed lately, rate equally on the third line. SELECTIONS: VILLAGEM (9), On Any Day (2), Island Brave (5), Three Blades (1). RATINGS: 9 / 2 / 1, 5, 8 / 6. He hasn’t been far away recently in better races than this. TEMPORAL (5) was a plodding fourth from the trail at Bendigo last time and Daryl Douglas has a good record in these weak races. He returns to Dean Braun, who did well with him earlier on this season. SCARLET JASPER (9) broke through for an overdue win at Bendigo last week and looks the main danger, with each way chances to evergreen WALTON FLYER (1), the honest INDI GLOVES (3), and CINCINNATUS (6), who goes well in these standing start affairs.
