By virtue of her front line draw and with the gate speed she’s developed recently, the Victorian looks to have an advantage. She led when scoring at Charlton four starts back, came from the second line when a tough wide to the breeze Super Sires heat winner here, then found the top in the final when overcome late by the outstanding Rocknrolla. An effortless heat win of this series at Geelong, again in all the way fashion, was just what she needed to prime her nicely for this series. FLYING POCKETLANDS (9) won her fourth race when far too good for moderates in all the way fashion in the Cranbourne repechage of this series last week. She draws to trail into a handy spot and will certainly make a good race of it with the favourite. Each way chances to surprise heat winner MANDS GEARL (3), MODERN GIRL (4), an early season standout whose form has slipped a little lately, DANCEWITHAGRIN (10), who won a heat of this series at Menangle; and ART SHADOW (12), who’s been a big improver of late – her Geelong heat win was most impressive. Ratings: 5 / 9 / 12 / 3, 10 / 4. Second on debut, LADY EUTHENIA (8) has racked up eleven victories in succession, taking on and beating all comers and proving she can come from behind when winning after a wide trip at Menangle three starts back. ZENSTAR (3) is a lightly raced filly, having won twice at Cambridge from her four starts. She had the run of the race when scoring in 1:55.8 for 1700 in her heat of this series, then wasn’t put into the race when mid-field last time in a race won by a stablemate. The barrier draw sees her as a top chance here. BALLANDELLA BABY (1) is an honest staying type of filly who sat in the breeze to narrowly win a Cranbourne repechage of this series. She acquitted herself well when second and fourth respectively behind Rocknrolla here in the Super Sires Semi-final and Final last month, and draws to upset her two better fancied rivals here. Chances also to Albion Park heat winner SHEZA MACHSTAR (5), who is untested at this level; and LED SUITCASE (10) on her solid death seat heat victory at Geelong – a big improvement on prior form. Ratings: 8 / 3 / 1 / 5, 10. His wins this season include the APG Final, the Victoria, Queensland and NSW Derbies and the NSW Breeders Final, and he’s drawn to find the lead here with his main rival, top Kiwi colt TINTIN IN AMERICA (11) drawn the back row. TINTIN IN AMERICA (11) led, then handed up when winning his Harness Jewels race at Ashburton in a brilliant 1:53.2 for the mile, then effortlessly won a heat of this race at Cambridge three weeks ago. He’s an outstanding prospect but will have to do plenty from this awkward draw if he’s to beat the favourite. STAGHORN FLAT (2) has been a revelation in recent times. He won his heat of this race at Ballarat in all the way fashion a fortnight ago, then put up an amazing performance when coming from last and seven wide on the home turn to mow down a handy field of youngsters here last week. LIVING ON FIRE (10) was Victoria’s top two year old last season and his recent efforts have been outstanding, with seconds in both Semi Final and Final of the Super Sires behind Villagem, an easy victory here and a similarly easy heat win of this series at Ballarat. He made it nine wins on end when finding the lead and beating subsequent repechage winner EMJAYEM GRAND (2) by a big space in his heat of this series at Ballarat a fortnight ago, that following a solid first up for seven months success here over top youngster VILLAGEM (12). RUNAWAY RED (3) did a good job to get within two metres of Captain Joy in the NSW Breeders Final at Menangle two runs back when forced to do it tough, then found the lead for an effortless heat win of this series at Menangle three weeks ago where he finished off in a blistering 55.9. He rates as second pick behind this favourite with Victorian youngsters VILLAGEM (12) and GARNET RIVER (13) not far behind him. Unfortunately this pair have drawn awkwardly, but with the way Melton plays, they shouldn’t have too much trouble qualifying for the final with their powerful finishing bursts Ratings: 4 / 3 / 12 / 13. He proved his toughness and looks the top pick here. Speaking of toughness, CUTTHEATTITUDE (8) is all that and more. He’s won 10 of his 13 starts this season including the APG Final when beating Chariot King, and at Menangle when winning the NSW Breeders Final beating RENAISSANCE MAN (12). He ran home in 55.6 to win the Menangle heat of this series, then was an effortless winner of the Sapling Stakes at Harold Park a fortnight ago at his latest start. ITS MY PLEASURE (5) is an underrated colt who’s only won one of nine but has impressed in recent runs with a close second in his heat of this race at Menangle, a close second to CUTTHEATTITUDE (8) in the Sapling at Harold Park, and a luckless second when flashing home late behind Chariot King in his repechage of this series at Cranbourne nine days ago. Gavin Lang is sure to have him in a winning position and he looks the value runner. NORTHERN FRONTIER (2) was an odds-on favourite when he led and just won his heat at Bendigo but looked good in prior runs in NSW, and from the pole here will give plenty of cheek. Each way chance to OLE MASTER LOMBO (3), who’s won both starts since resuming – he beat subsequent repechage winner Modern Warrior when sitting outside him in his heat at Cranbourne. She’s won 10 of 14 this season, included in those the Queensland Oaks, and was a heat winner of the NSW and Victoria Oaks. She finished off in 56.6 and wasn’t pushed out to win her heat of this series at Menangle three weeks ago and draws to be in front, if not sitting right behind main danger ELIXIR (4). ELIXIR (4) has been a big improver this season and been most consistent since reaching the top level. Placed in the NSW, Queensland and Victoria Oaks Finals, she finally won a big one when scoring at Moonee Valley in the Australian Oaks a month ago, was cut down late after being hammered in the lead in her heat of this series, then was never threatened when throwing a 56.8 last half at her rivals in last week’s Yarra Valley repechage. OUR IMAGINE ME (11) is a top ex-Kiwi filly who ran a big race against the boys here last week when trailing wide from near last and cut down late by Staghorn Flat. Second in her Harness Jewels race back in May, she’s a quality filly and is sure to be in the finish. Fellow Kiwi CAROLINES CULLEN (9), has won six races this season, the latest of those a four horse qualifier for this series a month ago. She’s trained by the Steven Reid - Graeme Rogerson combination and should be respected Ratings: 2 / 4, 11 / 6, 9 / 13 / 12. CHARIOT KING (1) won the Bathurst Gold Crown and ran second in an APG Final earlier this term and his three runs this time in have him cherry ripe for this series. SMILING SHARD (11) worked around them three wide from the rear last week then he and Lanercost locked up in a 55.4 last half battle - he was gallant in defeat. MASTER JOY (2) was luckless at Cranbourne in his repechage and is going a lot better than his formline suggests. Ratings: 1 / 11 / 2 / 3, 10 / 4, 5. She ran second in the Victoria Derby to Captain Joy earlier this season, then outclassed the girls in a Vic Oaks and Vicbred Final, was in need of the run when a first up third in the Australian Oaks a month ago, then finished off in 56.5 from the breeze when beating KEPPEL BAY (2) in her heat of this series at Kilmore a fortnight ago. MAKE MINE CULLEN (1) was a tough heat winner at Kilmore, then a short priced favourite here last week where from the pole, she didn’t show enough early speed and never saw daylight. Douglas is sure to rev her up out of the gate this time and she has strong claims. KEPPEL BAY (2) won the two year old final of this series last season as well as the APG 2YO Final and seems to reserve her winning efforts for big races. She led when narrowly beaten by BROADWAYS BEST (10) in the Kilmore heat a fortnight ago, then used the sprint lane to run by ANANZ (13) in their repechage at Yarra Valley last week. TINA ANTOINETTE (8) is a talented filly who’s won four of five since resuming from a long spell. She had the run of the race when out-finishing Elixir and LIFE INTHEFASTLANE (9) in the Kilmore heat of this race and is a sit/sprint filly who’ll be flashing through in the closing stages.
