Herald Sun Form Guide : August 22nd 2009
heraldsun.com.au Moonee Valley TODAY PROS TALKING Lisa Eskander BOOKMAKER EAGLEFALLS (MV R8 No. 2): Wonvery well first-up at Flemington and expect him to have improved further. Has a wide barrier to contend with, but that should not stop him. Mick Price TRAINER ORBITING BELLE (MV R1 No. 4): My filly has run up to her top in every race she’s run in. I think if Black Caviar ran in the same races she would be four or five lengths in front of that form. SCARLET(MV R2 No. 6): She was pretty much at her top at Flemington last start when soundly beaten. But, she’s hard fit, she’s going well and has a good each-way chance. BETWIXT (MV R3 No. 5): First time this trip she gets to her true distance. Unlucky last start in Adelaide when shuffled back and he’s ready to fire. BETTY’S BELLE (MV R5 No. 10): Difficult gate in a tricky race. She’ll go forward and I think she can run pretty well. PREEMINENCE (MV R6 No. 3): He’ll need plenty of luck from barrier one and he’s probably going to get shuffled back to the third line on the fence. He’s going great and looks set for a good preparation. SHREWDRHYTHM(MV R7 No. 4): His chances improve if it is a slow or heavy track.Ontop of the ground he’ll be off the bit and chasing at the halfway mark. HOT JOCKS HERALD SUN SUPERFORM LIFTOUT THE MAIL Adrian Dunn WIN RANDWICK(R5 No. 5): Albert The Fat bolted in last start and the penny has really dropped with him. He does rise in class but has a great winning strike rate and expect him to settle towards the rear and swoop over the top. Adam Hamilton EACH-WAY First-up specialist: Secret Flyer will take catching in the 1000m sprint at Moonee Valley today. MIDNIGHT OIL with ADRIAN DUNN TRACK: Good PENETROMETER: 4.33 RAIL: Out 4m LAST MEETING: Out 7m LAST TIME OUT 4m: Feb 20 RAINFALL: 12.2mm for week IRRIGATION: 3mm for week RADAR: Scattered showers 1 MUCH anticipated appearance from exciting BLACK CAVIAR (1). Super impressive winning 2 AFTER burning holes in punters’ pockets by getting beaten last Saturday when $1.60 favourite, Luke Nolen can redeem himself at Moonee Valley today where he looks nearly unbeatable. He’s riding five top chances for trainer Peter Moody—Black Caviar, PassMeBy, Umanugget, La Goulue and Moondancing— and can hopefully pinch a point or two on roughies Joontoo Gemini and Devil May Care. THE MARKET $1.40 $6.50 $9.00 $11.00 $13.00 $17.00 $26.00 $61.00 Luke Nolen Dwayne Dunn Nicholas Hall Craig Newitt Any other indiv. jock Craig Williams Jason Maskiell Glen Boss her two autumn runs by an accumulative 11 lengths. She should bounce to front, dictate terms and score comfortably. Add MAKA ENA (3) for the exacta. She ran very well against the best in Blue Diamond. For the other exotics NOESIS (2) has ability. She won a Listed race on debut and the saddle slipped at Caulfield when she put on buck-jumping display. ORBITING BELLE (4) is honest. Fought on well in Dermody. ON-PACERS: Black Caviar, Noesis, Orbiting Belle, Absolute Faith. SWOOPERS: Maka Ena. SUGGESTED BET: Pick 4: 1/3/2,4,5,6/2,4,5,6 last run. She’s the proven class factor with placings in the Arrowfield and AJC Oaks. Ready to produce best now she’s out to a suitable trip. SCARLET (6) may not be a star, but she’s honest and significantly has a 4kg weight swing on the emerging, inform CORONATION DIVA (10) from their Flemington meeting. She gives herself every chance by putting herself in the race. Query about the trip, but definite each-way claims. Although she rises in weight, there’s no denying that Coronation Diva has definite claims. Runner-up over similar trip at Cranbourne behind PassMe By, subsequent Flemington winner. Include FLORINA (8) who was placed behind Pass Me By and Coronation Diva before her strong last start Sandown win. BROLAGO (1), a Valley winner who looks as if she’s wanting this trip, and DIAMOND ENVY (4), unbeaten in the going and proven at the trip, also have claims. ON-PACERS: Joontoo Gemini, Scarlet, Coronation Diva. SWOOPERS: Brolago, Diamond Envy. 3 SUGGESTED BET: Galileo’s Daughter each-way. treated at weights, proven at trip and handles all ground. Tasmanian Derby winner BETWIXT (5) is ready to produce best. Didn’t have much luck at Morphettville. This suits. ELMORE (2) and CHINA CAUSEWAY (6) both HARD to go past PASS ME BY (4) who graduated to town with emphatic win. In-form, looks well LOOK for improvement from GALILEO’S DAUGHTER (5) who was ridden upside-down 4 have small weight pulls on Pass Me By from Flemington run. They’ll both be competitive. Best roughie could be RARE POPPI (10) who drops 3.5kg on his Cranbourne win. ON-PACERS: Pass Me By, Elmore, Doosra Diamond. SWOOPERS: Daka’s Gem, China Causeway. SUGGESTEDBET: Straight out Pass Me By. 5 away well for a minor placing behind her in a Listed race at Caulfield and his form in Queensland is hard to fault. Query runner is UMANUGGET (3) who joins the all-conquering Peter Moody 3-Y-O stable. He was regarded highly enough to run in Group and Listed company in Sydney autumn. CABEZA (6) was strong on debut. Drops back in distance, but put himself in race and rallied well. NICASTRO (4) has been demolishing rivals at remote country venues. Significant step up, but all you can do is win. ALKHAFIF (2) posted upset win in quick early sectional race at Caulfield, then didn’t have any luck at same track-distance last start. ON-PACERS: Carrara, Nicastro, Perikon, Cabeza. SWOOPERS: Alkhafif, Umanugget. SUGGESTED BET: Straight out Carrara. track, distance and races on the tempo. ESTEE (1) is a SA Guineas winner and SA Oaks-placed, but she has won fresh and with claim is only 3kg above minimum. Interesting runner is MAUNATRICE (3) who resumes from 14-month spell. Plenty of ability and good record at distance. Warrants respect. For those wishing to load up quaddie first leg, include BELLEZA VELOZ (6), SWEET SVENGALI (9) and BETTY’S BELLE (10). ON-PACERS: La Goulue, Belscenica. SWOOPERS: Estee, Belleza Veloz, Sweet Svengali. THE BANKERS ON FORM: PASS ME BY (R3 No. 4) ON WEIGHT: SCARLET (R2 No. 6) ON CLASS: SECRET FLYER (R7 No. 3) ON POTENTIAL: EAGLE FALLS (R8 No. 2) $50 FLEXI QUADDIE FOR 100% 1,3,5,6,9,10/8,10,11,14/2,3/2 DROP back from weight-for-age company should assist LA GOULUE (5) who races well at IF, as expected, Black Caviar wins then CARRARA (1) has a compelling formline. Battled SUGGESTED BET: Box Trifecta 1,3,5,6,9,10 6 own luck. Drops 5kg for strong all-theway win Sandown. Sure to give good sight. Definitely include LA ROCKET (14) who was gallant behind the smart Driffield Gold at Flemington, Another who makes his own luck. BONINDI (8) is racing well. Beaten by classy mare last run and comes in well after claim. Camps on speed, rate highly. TEST EDITION (11) is racing well. Definite claims. SCENIC FIND (17) has been freshened. Never far away. ON-PACERS: Mr Sargood, Bonindi, All Cheval, Test Edition. SWOOPERS: Cats Fun, Pre Eminence, Arapaho Miss. SUGGESTED BET: Each-way All Cheval. past two runs this track. Remember he was backed to beat Scenic Blast in Newmarket. SA visitor MORGAN DOLLAR (2) appears to have plenty in favour. Strong first-up record, performed well in higher grade — fourth behind Swiss Ace in Oakleigh Plate — races well here and handles the ground. If WILANDER (1) runs he, too, rates highly. Very competitive in better races than this. Those three dominate race. SHREWD RHYTHM (4) is starting to rekindle juvenile form, but these may be too sharp and he’s not well suited at weights. Can’t entertain any others. 7 ON-PACERS: Wilander, Morgan Dollar, Devil May Care, Mrs Waters. SWOOPERS: Secret Flyer, Shrewd Rhythm. SUGGESTED BET: Key trifecta 2,3/2,3/field races. Most impressive first-up, winner this track and just 1kg over minimum after claim. TRUSTUS (4) is most consistent. May be better over 1400m, but he’s a danger in anything. MOONDANCING (13) drops back from Group 3 race. Far from disgraced and her previous run when she carried 57kg was good. SIGNOR SOCKS (3) fought on well in good form race last start. Add AMERRYKING (6), TOLKA ROCK (9) and KENNY KID (12) for exotics. 8 ON-PACERS: Signor Socks, Trustus, Tolka Rock. SWOOPERS: Amerryking, Moondancing. SUGGESTED BET: Straight out Eagle Falls. EAGLE FALLS (2) is a quality 4-Y-O who will contest and be competitive in better spring CONDITIONS narrow this down to three-horse race. SECRET FLYER (3) flies first-up. Won TOUGH. Much to like about past couple from ALL CHEVAL (10) who races on pace and makes Michael Manley FORMULA BET Onpaper it looks a day for favourites. The best way to make some money could be a Formula 2, 3 and 4 win bet. Take Carrara (R4 No. 1), La Goulue (R5 No. 5), Secret Flyer (R7 No. 3) and Eagle Falls (R8 No.2) into each other for $1 which will cost $11. Nick Quinn WIN RANDWICK(R6 No. 6): Court Command was once Australia’s best three-year-old before embarking on a failed stud career. He’s now back racing in career best form, destroyed his rivals in Brisbane last start and can emulate that performance here. BELMONT(R6 No. 6): Burnzy has always shown ability but has been slightly frustrating throughout his career. His last few runs have been very encouraging and he’ll give you a cheer for your money at big odds.
