His form before going for a spell was nothing special but he does go okay fresh. HARRY WALTON (1) hasn’t been far away in metro races recently and is overdue to break through at this level. He has the pole and handles the stand okay. SHARDONS ROCKET (13) is a front of the field gelding who’ll have to work from his handicap mark but his recent form has been solid and against better than these. DONTWANTANO (4) is a classy performer who resumed with a solid finish for fourth at Ararat a week ago and he’ll be much improved. He has won from the stand. Each way chances to standing start specialist WAIKAWA BAY (6), who was slightly below his best last time but did well when second from the stand here previously; classy performer SINGASONGASIXPENCE (9), who hasn’t had much standing start experience; and talented mare TWIRLING (12), who was placed from this mark at Moonee Valley a fortnight ago at this level. The horses he beat in both those races are winners since, and he has the gate speed to beat these as well. IGETAROUND (2) was charging at them and may have won but for a late mistake when beaten here in a Consolation of the Crown last weekend, and his runs prior were well up to winning this. He has the draw and will be mighty hard to beat. Each way chances to tough gelding PANORAMA GRAND (4) and Tasmanian OGRADY (8), who had the run of the race when second in last week’s consolation. Caught at the back of the field at Geelong last time, he was never a factor before storming home late for a close fourth behind Idengood Time. He’ll settle close enough to run by them on this spacious track. SARUM PRINCE (10) is in career best form. He made it four wins from six tries this season when making two moves and fighting on well to win a 4YO affair here a fortnight ago, then covered ground in the last lap when he outstayed talented three year old Coastal at Kilmore last Monday. GIVITANAME (8) was runner up to Maffioso in his Breeders Crown 4YO heat here, then luckless and made late ground for fifth in the final last Sunday. He’s won 12 of 23 this season and is racing as well as ever. ANANZ (1) led all the way for a well deserved Crown Consolation victory here last week and draws to repeat. AYU GYPSY (8) came from the rear and powered home for second against the boys in a strong Moonee Valley 3YO affair a fortnight ago, then overcame a wide last lap to win well on the tight Warragul circuit last weekend. Her chance will be enhanced if she can hold the back of probable leader EFFECTIVE TORQUE (1) and use the sprint lane. That filly won her sixth race for the season when covering ground from an awkward second line draw to score convincingly at Ballarat last week, and will be mighty hard to run down from this alley. Last month’s Addington winner SCARLETT FINN (4) ran second to MENDELICO (11) from the breeze at Bendigo at her first Aussie start, then easily beat moderates from the second line at Nyah ten days ago. She has gate speed and is likely to be in the finish. In an open race GYPSY TINGIRA (5), HECTIC (6), AY TEE EM (7), SIERRA TANGO (9), ATHENA BROMAC (10), MENDELICO (11), and LEWISIENNA JO (12) are all in with a shout. The Tony Peacock exKiwi MISTER GNP (8) sat outside (7) and outstayed him in a Kilmore stand last Monday at his first Australian start, and he looks a horse of the future. ULTIMATE UNDER FIRE (3) has a good record at this level here this season but is yet to break through at metro level. He made two moves when fourth to an impressive STERLISH (13) at the Valley a fortnight ago and they again both rate highly. The query runner is JACCKA SINGH (15), who’s won four of his last five starts. A talented NSW youngster, he was resuming when an easy Penrith winner last week and is one well worth watching. Each way chances to LIFE BOAT (2), who was a tough effort when third at the Valley a fortnight ago; THE EVANGELIST (7), who hasn’t finished further back than second in four runs since coming here; and GHADASBEST (12), who went okay when a first up second in a strong Cranbourne affair six weeks ago. He draws inside his main rivals and has a fitness advantage on a couple of them. CINCINNATI KID (6) hasn’t started since failing in the Len Smith Mile at Menangle in April, following a mixed Inter Dominion campaign. He’s been trialling extra well for his return and is a class act. BOLD CRUISER (5) is an amazing horse who produces his best in the big races. He rated 1:56.8 for this trip when upsetting Smoken Up here early last month before failing behind Blacks A Fake in the Winter Cup at Albion Park a month ago, where he had no luck from an awkward second line draw. TI VOGLIOBENE (8) was narrowly beaten by Melpark Major here four starts back, then missed a way but still won a stand here before a nose defeat by Melpark Major in 1:55.6 here. Forget his beaten effort in the Breeders Crown FFA here last Sunday when at the rear and unable to make a late impression when All Tiger finished off in 56.4. Ratings: 4 / 5, 6? 8 / 3, 7, 9. TEAR IT ALL AWAY (13) beat the in-form Petes Elect in a Breeders Crown heat here a fortnight ago, then was a luckless sixth behind Maffioso in last week’s final. Stablemate SECRET TENDER (10) has won eight races this season and didn’t have much luck in his Breeders Crown races. WATTABOUT JASPER (2) improved on his Mildura form with an all the way Moonee Valley victory over The Gunstar a fortnight ago, then sat mid-field and battled on okay when third at Ballarat last weekend. He goes best in front and draws to be there. Top Perth mare RUBY DAZZLER (3) ran gallant seconds in heat and final of the Tabcorp Park Final Cup to Captain Kalahari before disappointing slightly when third in her 4YO Breeders Crown heat. She didn’t contest last week’s final. VERY CHIC (6) is a speedy mare who’s always a chance in these races, while NOTASWETHORT (8), who rounds out the main winning chances, won six races in quick time earlier this season and resumes into a winnable race. KELLYS NIPPA (2) won his sixth race for the season at Kilmore a month ago, then followed with back-to-back placings here in stronger races than this before making a mistake under FFA conditions here last week. He looks extremely well graded. SUNSET TRUSCOTT (11) has been consistent at this level in recent times and looked good in his fast finishing FFA third here last week behind Acacia Ridge. Rate him highly. Next best is SPEEDY NAOMI (7), who runs along boldly when she consents to begin quickly enough, and if she finds the front or somewhere near it, will be hard to beat. RADIO CITY (9) has been in the betting but beaten in a couple of recent runs here, but made mistakes in one and was caught wide in the other. He may benefit from a short break of five weeks between runs and in this easier of the MO races, looks well graded. SECOND MORTGAGE (2) made two moves and fought on well when fourth to AUBREY JAMES (7) at Shepparton, then just failed to pick up Get The Monet there last week before covering ground in the final circuit and running a gallant second at Bendigo last Monday night. She’s overdue a win and draws to get one. DREAMAWAY VOGUE (4) finished well to win at Kilmore three starts back and hasn’t been far away and luckless in subsequent runs here and at Moonee Valley. She has excellent each way claims.
