FOR GRANTED (3) enjoyed the perfect run in front when he won his heat. He is shooting for three straight wins and is drawn to lead again but he shouldn't get such a luxurious this week. THE TIMELY TRADER (7) raced out three wide for the final lap and battled on fairly well ($2- 90 fav) for fourth behind FOR GRANTED (3) in his heat effort. He finished powerfully for an eye-catching second to King Caesar at Mildura prior and is worth another chance. FAROUK (8) has returned to form in recent weeks and trailed forward nicely out three wide when he sprinted home too well last week. He is likely to end up being three back on the markers from his awkward trailing draw but he should be finding the line well. SECRET RENDEZVOUS (13) was finishing fast before running into a dead-end when a luckless fourth last week. He is awkwardly drawn but is capable of causing an upset. GLEES JASPER (5) was held up for a run at a vital stage and finished hard at his latest third. He has several fast beginners drawn on his inside but is an each way hope if he gains the right luck in running. WILABBY JACK (1), ANVILS REVIVAL (2), TICKET TIME (4) and BELEPHERON (6) could all fill a place without surprising in a tricky race to commence the program. IN PURSUIT (11) is the class runner of the field and ran a top race for second (1/2hd) to Gluteus Maximus on July 31. He has been placed in a recent Kilmore trial and should take beating but he can be very risky at the start. UNE DE MAI (3) tried to lead throughout and was gunned down in the last few strides by YENTLS STAR (8) last week. She will be much better suited over the sprint distance tonight and is a good chance of leading throughout. THEPOWEROFHEALING (6) drops back to a handicap of 10m after her all of the way victory over YENTLS STAR (8) and SUNSET TRUSCOTT (9) two weeks ago. She is a very quick beginner from the standing start however and she should be competitive again here. PEPPERELL DANCER (7) is an underrated trotter, which is resuming since a second to Just Glorious in the Bruce Skeggs Trotters Cup but was runner up in a recent Cranbourne trial effort. He contested most of the feature races last season including the Inter Dominion series where he finished sixth in the Consolation so he must be respected. YENTLS STAR (8) has worked back to his best form in recent times and sprinted sharply from behind the leader to win over UNE DE MAI (3) last week. He drops back to the handicap of 10m now but is not without a chance. SUNSET TRUSCOTT (9) should be hitting the line strongly and CLASSIC PLAYBOY (2), which is a handy beginner from behind the tapes, is rising in class on his latest victory where he was beautifully driven to weave through the pack. RATINGS: 3,11/ 6,7,8/ 2,9 SUGGESTED BET: Flexi Trifecta 3,6,11/ 3,6,7,8,11/ 2,3,6,7,8,9,11 (Cost $20, which gives 33.33%) 3 BIG6 Blacks A Fake FFA 7.42 1720m. $20000. BOLD CRUISER (1) gunned down SMOKEN UP (2) at their last meeting and finished strongly in a fast final half of 56.6 seconds behind Our Malabar when returning from his luckless sixth behind Blacks A Fake in the Winter Cup. SMOKEN UP (2) has an exceptional record of 30 wins from just 59 starts and ran a record of 1.53.4 for the sprint trip on the opening day of Tabcorp Park. He may not have backed up well from that sparkling effort as he was beaten five days later and he has been freshened for this assignment. SMOKEN UP (2) will more than likely find the lead so he gets the nod. CINCINNATI KID (3) can produce a brilliant beginning on his day and ran a top race for second at his first start since a sixth in the Len Smith Mile. He was very unlucky throughout the Inter Dominion series in Brisbane and should have made it into the final so he has the class to match it with the top two selections. VERANJEE (6) should be reaching his peak form after his two placed efforts back from a break. Admittedly, he did have every chance last week but he is worth thought in multiple combinations. KARLSRUHE (5) dropped right out after racing on the outside of the leader throughout under the standing start conditions last time. He usually races best when he is driven with cover so he might run into a place. The top mare DEANNA TROY (4) has struggled to find her top form in recent times and HENCHMAN (7), which did run a brave race last time, would be better suited to the claiming class. MAKE MINE CULLEN (1) isn't a brilliant beginner from the mobile but demolished her rivals when she produced a breathtaking performance to win the Breeders Crown last outing. She has excelled since joining trainer Glenn Douglas and should prove hard to beat again. MISTER GNP (7) remains undefeated from two Australian starts and looks to be very tough. He clearly outstayed THE EVANGELIST (6) on his Australian debut then just held off that pacer in the Graduate but he probably went too slowly in the middle stages of the race. He is widely drawn but will definitely make his presence felt. THE EVANGELIST (6) is yet to miss a place in seven starts to date and won comfortably after leading throughout at Ballarat on Saturday night. This race is harder but he did pick up ground on MISTER GNP (7) in the Graduate prior and he should run his usual honest race. OUR ARCHANGEL (8) has a trailing draw behind MAKE MINE CULLEN (1) so his chances rely on how fast that mare can accelerate at release point. He worked out of the gate to lead in a fast first quarter and fought back when headed at his latest close second so he is not without a chance. SLIPPNALONG (4) had little luck from the inside of the second line at Kilmore last time and is a minor place hope. He led out, took a trail and boxed on well for third behind Lombo Alliance at his first run since June and should be sharper for that performance. THE GUNSTAR (9) dropped out to last from a wide draw and made up many lengths when an eye-catching fourth behind Our Madagascar last week. He was runner up at his previous three attempts and is ready to break through for a win. SARUM PRINCE (11) has had four wins from seven starts since returning from a spell and produced an authoritative performance when he won at Kilmore two starts back. The outside of the second line draw over the sprint distance is a major disadvantage but he is racing too well to dismiss. DONTWANTANO (5) was very impressive in winning at Ballarat last week as he sprinted sharply from near the tail in a final half of 58.1 seconds. He meets a field of similar quality here and is a winning chance again. MACTERRA BOY (10) is racing in career best form and made up ground out wide on the track when a handy fourth last week. He won in a career best mile rate of 1.55.4 on August 06 and is a value chance. HARRY WALTON (3), RADIO CITY (6) and AUBREY JAMES (8) all are minor place hopes in the event. He followed a second to Bullee Bullee with a fast finishing second to Singasongasixpence under similar conditions and will take holding out if he receives the right trail forward. STERLISH (8) finished fast from midfield to win impressively at Moonee Valley then came home strongly from near last when an eye-catching third in the Graduate. He is awkwardly drawn but is racing at his peak. MYRNIONG PANORAMA (7) has struck form recently and worked hard when a strong fifth behind Singasongasixpence then just failed to overhaul Spider Nelson at Shepparton. He is a tough type and should run a forward race from the front line draw. JUMPIN JACK JASPER (4) hasn't had much luck since coming from Tasmania and motored to the line in the latter stages when fifth to Dontwantano at Ballarat last week. He is a proven standing start performer in Tasmania and looks to be a good each way chance. WAIKAWA BAY (9) has a good record from the standing start and BY THE SWORD (6) showed a glimpse of his best form when he came wide from the 600m and battled on well for third at Ballarat last week. That was his first run since July and he should be even better for that performance. NOTASWETHORT (1) was restrained to last from a wide draw and couldn't get into the race when fifth ($1-90 fav) in fast time last week. Admittedly, he didn't run on as expected on Friday night but he should be fitter for his two runs back from a spell and he is much better drawn this evening. BULLEE BULLEE (7) disappointed after leading comfortably last week but he possesses brilliant gate speed and easily beat Shardons Rocket at his previous attempt. He gets into this race with a concession claim and is worth another chance. ULTIMATE MARK (9) has shown gradual improvement over the past few weeks and might be getting back to some form after his five starts back from a spell. REAL SMOOTH LOMBO (6) ran a huge race for third in a semi-final of the Breeders Crown then finished unplaced behind Maffioso in the Final. He is widely drawn but has too much ability to dismiss. LOMBO ALLIANCE (8) came away from the inside, worked around the field to race without cover and battled on bravely for second last week. He has a trailing draw behind NOTASWETHORT (1) and is a place hope again. Both TRANQUIL ODYSSEY (3) and SPRING HILL (4) won at Tabcorp Park last week so are racing well enough to figure in the finish. He is dropping back from a M2-M4 to a M1-M2 so he will take holding out in the run to the finish. ARROGANT AL (5) ran a big race despite finishing sixth at Bendigo last outing as he came out very wide from last approaching the home turn and finished handily. He won a heat of the Winter Championship at Moonee Valley in July and rates as an each way chance. SCOTLAND THE BRAVE (1) showed a glimpse of his best form when he finished fast for second to Henchman in a claiming race three starts back. He will appreciate his best draw for some time and is worth an investment here. MISS LAURA JANE (9) didn't seem to handle being out wide on the track at Harold Park last week but was still able to storm home and win so she is obviously racing at her peak form. She has a trailing draw and is worth thought despite rising in class. SPIDER NELSON (8) parked on the outside of the leader throughout and fought off all of the challengers to win well at Shepparton last outing. He would be better suited to being drawn on the front line but he is racing well enough to figure in the finish.
