He ran third in a strong mobile here three starts back then made a mistake at Shepparton at his next start before copping an early check and finishing out the back at Melton last weekend. His opposition here isn't over strong and he'll be hard to hold out. LASTINGIMPRESSIONS (10) is in top form and close to winning her first race for nearly a year. She followed a death seat second at Cranbourne with a solid back mark Nyah third, then worked around to the breeze from this handicap when fighting on well for third in a country front race at Tabcorp Park last weekend. ALABAMA APOLLO (4) led, then took a sit and fought on gamely when a close second in fast time at Warragul a week ago and is close to a breakthrough victory. STAR GUN (7) found early trouble and was wide in the last lap when a strong third at Cobram a month ago, then galloped and was out of business at Charlton last time. He has the talent but sometimes not the manners. Each way chances to REDLINE FEVER (1), DEVILS RAYNE (2), KIRSLY KEPT (3), KEYSTONE CROWN (5) and BUNTYS KNIGHT (12). Ratings:9/4,10/7/1,2,3,5,12. After working hard to find the lead from her second line draw, she was cut down late into second place by Spin To Win at Geelong at her latest run, and looks better suited this time. FAYES MY GIRL (3) won a similar race to this from the trail at Cranbourne early last month, then wasn't quite up to Breeders Crown level when unplaced in both Semi Final and Consolation before an excellent third to Art Shadow here a month ago, where she drew awkwardly and fought on well after a wide last lap. From the alley, she has a great winning chance. JO LOULEONIE (1) showed up well in Breeders Crown Semi Final and Final at Tabcorp Park when just behind the placegetters, and hasn't had much luck in either run since. A return to the front line from this good alley is what she's been looking for. ALWAYS LACKING (4) was placed twice at Shepparton at her first two starts, then found trouble at Echuca last week. Give her another chance. The only other winning possibility is MERINDAH MAGIC (2), who,s been placed in two of seven and will be improved by an honest first up fourth at Terang eleven days ago. Ratings:5/3/1/4/2. Suggested bet: Box quinella and trifecta 1, 3, 5. 3 Schweppes Pace 7.30 1650m. $5000. He was forced to do it hard in the breeze when a first up third here to The Dog Soldier in 1:57.7 for this trip, then came from a wide second line draw to find the lead mid-race when cut down on the line by the talented Fantasy Rocks at Maryborough a fortnight ago. He looks the leader and probable winner. JILLIBY BARTEL (6) has been placed at his latest seven starts and is overdue a win. His formline reads 32 starts for one win and 17 placings and this looks his chance to get back on the board. CARLOS CULLEN (4) is a lightly raced five year old who put up his best run so far when wide to the breeze and runner up here three weeks ago. A recent trial winner on this circuit, he looks nicely suited. HERECOMES KENNY (5) showed good speed when working to the lead and cut down late into third place on debut in a country front race at Tabcorp Park last weekend. He's a likely type who races out of the strong Glenn Douglas stable. Each way chances to MERINDAH MAGIC (2), who resumes off a close trial second here to CARLOS CULLEN (4); MILKCART ERNIE (7), who was second up from a spell when wide to the breeze an a tough third at Shepparton last Sunday; and FREDDY FRANCO (8), who led when second at Ballarat a fortnight ago before knocking up to finish last in the final of that race there. STRANGEASITSOUNDS (3) is in career best form. She worked hard in the breeze when a Horsham winner a month ago, then was caught wide when a gallant second to Dance With Armbro at Cranbourne before a luckless fourth there a fortnight ago. Caught back on the pegs, she flashed through late into third place behind the talented Pacific Playgirl at Geelong last Monday night and will find this race against her own sex, a much more appealing proposition. MONICA CATHERINE (7) finished powerfully to win at Geelong a fortnight ago, then wasn't far away in an unsuitable stand at the Tabcorp Park last weekend. She'll be close enough to run by these with her typically strong finish. GODINE DILIGENT (5), a Shepparton winner last month, was luckless at Geelong after that, then worked home with MONICA CATHERINE (7) from mid-field when favourite and third to that mare at Geelong last time. This looks a suitable race for her. Ex-NSW performer LUCKNOW MONICA (2) hasn't been far away in three runs for Norm Diebert, the latest of those when finishing well for fourth at long odds at Melton last weekend. NARRA AMBROSIA (1) is the likely leader, as she was when cut down late in fast time by George Street Lad at Charlton nine days ago. She only finished fourth at Stawell last Monday but wasn't disgraced when making late ground from the rear. The query runner is BERIS HOLMES (6), who's won seven races and resumes from a spell of five months for new trainer Vin Mahar. Ratings:3,7/5/1,2/6? NIPPER LOBELL (6) has won four of eight so far and was third up from a long spell when heavily supported and a tough Geelong mobile winner last Monday night. He's the class factor but hasn't yet raced from the stand. PEPPERELL BEIJING (9) worked around them to find the lead when beating the in-form George Samuel from the stand at Ararat before finding the front from a wide gate and cut down late into third place by Twisted Firestarta in a fast 1:57.5 sprint affair at Melton last weekend. He's a fast beginner from the stand and should be handy throughout. That trio rate clearly ahead of DAY IN LIEU (7), who ran second from the stand at Bendigo three starts back, before two battling mobile efforts. All his four wins have been from behind the tapes. LORD RUFUS (2) wasn't disgraced when a death seat fourth at Charlton last time and has place claims at least, as does BIG BAD SHADY (10), who's been in good form but lacks standing start experience. She'll get a nice sit from this trailing draw and may prove hard to beat. GREYGREY (3) won moderate affairs in back-to-back fashion at Echuca and here before sitting outside the leader for a solid Ballarat third, then ran into traffic in the final of that race there nine days ago. This is her best draw for some time and with the Douglas polish on her, she'll be hard to hold out. PINAROO JILL (2) was placed here four starts back and not disgraced after sitting outside the leader when a length fourth in a blanket finish at Charlton last week to Mendelico. She's due to break through and has the draw. BRITTANY ANNA (5) is a handy Swan Hill trained mare who's been going okay in recent runs and has each way claims. Chances also to GOORNONG SPIRIT (1), who'll appreciate the good alley; DALLAS CRYSTAL (4), who ran her best race so far when a close Echuca second to Currynroses last week; and WENDY ANNE (6), who battled on fairly when fourth in a similar race to this at Maryborough three weeks ago at her latest start. She worked hard to find the lead when winning the Breeders Crown 4YO Mares Consolation at Tabcorp Park three starts back, then came from near last to out-finish Beloka Diamond in a 57.4 last half here before sitting wide without cover for most of the journey when beaten a length by subsequent Tabcorp Park winner Trojan Luck at Maryborough a fortnight ago. TSUNAMI LOMBO (7) raced ten times last season for six wins and four placings, the latest of those victories when beating The Gunstar at Ballarat a month ago. He comes off a hat trick of placings, the latest when working to the breeze at the 800 and beaten a head by Miss Deville at Ballarat last week. He looks the main danger to this favourite. TIBUR POWER (4) hasn't won for a long time but will be improved by three runs this time in in much stronger races than this. DOUBLE JUSTICE (3) is also dropping in grade on recent metropolitan efforts and she looks nicely suited as she flies the gate and usually takes a sit. She has each way claims on her home track. Other winning chances to STRIKING THUNDER (5), who comes off a break of a month; GOOD BYE (8), who was placed here three starts back before disappointing twice in town; and SIRNELSON OF ASCOT (9), who's been luckless in recent runs and will be doing his best work at the finish. IN PURSUIT (6) won 8 of 19 last season and is the class factor here. He ran a terrific race when wide in the last lap and second, beaten a nose by Gluteus Maximus at Tabcorp Park on July 31, then wasn't seen again until a solid sixth to Pepperell Dancer there a fortnight ago. His long back mark here is negated by only having five runners in front of him. KEYSTONE BLUES (3) is overdue a win at this level. He showed up well in a couple of races at Tabcorp Park back in August and comes off an excellent second to Windy Dollar at Ballarat nine days ago when four wide from the 500 and beaten two metres. ALABAMADON (5) was having his second run back from a spell when he sat in the one- one, led on straightening and was cut down late into fourth place by Westwood Castleton in a strong Tabcorp Park mobile last weekend. Those two runs will have topped him off nicely and he looks ready to win. CARLETONHILL (1) is an honest Peter Manning trained gelding who won five races last season and comes off Horsham and Terang victories and an excellent second at Stawell last Monday where he added to his handicap early when knocked down, before working around to the breeze to be beaten a head. The likely leader (as only one of two runners on the front), he'll certainly give them something to chase. KINGOFTHEDESERT (4) hasn't won for 16 months but never has much luck in his races and he deserves a victory. Keep him safe. Ratings: 6/1,3,5/4. She looks well placed here in the small field. BEST ON CLASS: TIBUR POWER (Race 7 No. 4) Is an M2 class pacer taking on Metropolitan maidens, gets in well with the concession for Jason Hackett and hell be ready to produce his best after three runs back from a spell. BEST ON VIDEO: DAY IN LIEU (Race 5 No. 7) Came from well back for a creditable sixth to Lornabelle at Shepparton last time in a fast last quarter.
