He ran an outstanding third to Skyvalley in the Breeders Crown 4YO Final here in August then was having his first run in more than a month when wide to the breeze and too good for a handy field at Kilmore last week. SUNSET TRUSCOTT (6) has been most unlucky here in recent times with four placing from his latest six tries After a bad beginning here a fortnight ago he tacked up to be three back the pegs mid-race and flashed home late to be beaten a nose by Crescent Glory. Rate him highly. IN PURSUIT (15) is the class runner but has a task from the long back mark over the relatively short trip. He ran second to the smart Gluteus Maximus here three starts back, and at his second run from a short break was too tough for KEYSTONE BLUES (9) at Bendigo last weekend. TAISON (13) won seven races last season, five of nine since coming here from New Zealand. He beat HILTON GEMMA (5) at Geelong two starts back then ran second to YOU SO AND SO (8) at Cranbourne five weeks ago and prepared for this with a Cranbourne trial victory last weekend. He looks the clear top pick and one of the better bets on the card. KING OF PARADISE (3) has been trialling well and should be a big improver here. First up here on this circuit five weeks ago he weakened to the rear after a tough trip then was off the track and locked wheels in the final circuit when not far away at Ballarat last time. He has enough gate speed to lead. TRANQUIL ODYSSEY (9) has been in career best form over the past couple of months. A long shot winner here a month ago, she then ran third here before finding the class too strong at her latest two outings. From this good trailing draw she'll be a strong finisher. HES A DREAM (1) got home nicely in the closing stages when mid-field here in a stand last week, is going much better than his formline suggests and he has the draw this time. She finished third to Lady Lexus in a Breeders Crown 4YO heat here three starts back, didn't have much go her way in the final, then led and took a sit mid-race when in front late before being "dive bombed" by Christian Melody in a much stronger mares race than this here at the Valley a fortnight ago. The query runner is DAZED AND CONFUSED (2), a highly talented young mare who was placed in the Breeders Crown 3YO Final a couple of seasons back before winning the APG 3YO Final. She only raced five times last season for three wins, her most recent effort a struggling fifth to Lady Lexus in a Breeders Crown heat in August. She draws well and would probably win this if anywhere near her best. SPRING HILL (7) had the run of the race when winning in fast time here a month ago then made a mistake in an unsuitable race. She hasn't raced for three weeks but did win a trial at Cranbourne in 1:59.9 last weekend. NAKASAKI MAGOO (9) is an honest Peter Tonkin trained mare who seems to be in career best form. She worked wide in the last lap to win at Stawell a fortnight ago and should get a nice sit just off the pace here from this good trailing draw. A winner here in August, he followed with a tough Kilmore success then found trouble when an unlucky third here before a death seat second to The Gunstar on this circuit. He finished well when a close third to the in-form Trojan Luck at the Valley a fortnight ago at his latest start, and looks ideally graded against these. FIRE IT UP (12) trailed wide in the last lap when just failing to pick up Get The Monet here last week and he faces a similar field. WAINGARO GRANDVIEW (6) trailed him up, was beaten narrowly into third place, and has strong claims along with DONTWANTANO (13), who sat two horses back and three wide behind FIRE IT UP (12) in the last lap of that race and finished a length off him in fourth. Also in the mix are LANDSCAPE (1), MACTERRA BOY (2), TOPNOTCH DAN (7), GEORGE STREET LAD (8) and RACY ROCKET (11). KARLSRUHE (10) had been out of form before flashing home late to beat OHOKA NEVADA (1) from the stand at the Valley a fortnight ago, then was one of the few horses to pull ground off Smoken Up and Melpark Major when that pair were buzzing home in a scintillating 26.9 here last week. He's possibly back to the form that had him competitive at Interdominon level a couple of seasons back and looks nicely suited by the trip. CINCINNATI KID (12) has only won one of 20 over the past couple of seasons but is close to a breakthrough. He came from well back when second to OUR MALABAR (11) here first up then sat three back the pegs when narrowly beaten by Smoken Up in a FFA sprint on this circuit three weeks ago before making two moves and fighting on well to be beaten a length into third place by Smoken Up here last week. OHOKA NEVADA (1) looks by far the best of the front markers. A standing start specialist, he was placed at Geelong then at Moonee Valley behind KARLSRUHE (10) at his first two Aussie starts, then was far too good in a Kilmore mobile last week where he found the top and finished off in 26.6, OUR MALABAR (11) followed his FFA defeat of CINCINNATI KID (12) here three starts back with a close third at the Valley to KARLSRUHE (10) then was never a factor from his awkward draw behind Smoken Up last week. The same can be said for TI VOGLIOBENE (9) and BOLD CRUISER (13) who will find this race much more to their liking -- they have strong each way claims as well. CHARLEYS DREAM (2), LUV THA ACES LOMBO (4), SOPHIE PASS (7), and DEANNA TROY (8) are also in the mix. He was first up for four months when a Moonee Valley winner in fast time in June, then failed a couple of times here before finishing strongly when beaten by sprint-laning Our Madagascar on this circuit a fortnight ago. He has blistering early speed, should be in front, and may not be able to run him down. VILLAGE PUNGEE (9) beat a strong field at the inaugural meeting here three months ago then was let up after a failure before a close first up third with a flat tire at the Valley, then a luckless sixth when badly held up here last week. That pair rate clearly ahead of WIPEM DRY (2) who won and was placed at the Valley before going for a spell and is resuming; FOR GRANTED (5) who's been going great guns in claimers; THAT'S MISTER ALI (6) who'll be improved from two runs from a spell; and ALBERADO (8) a noted speedster who resumes from this good trailing draw off a Bendigo trial win. He'll be all the better for this first up effort, but still has the ability to work hard and beat these. Top Sydney five year old BEN JUNIOR (8) ran third to Maffioso at Harold Park in late July and is three for three since resuming. Effortless Harold Park and Bankstown victories were followed by a last start Newcastle success where he led all the way and finished off in 55.8. MAKE MINE CULLEN (3) outclassed Australasia's best mares in both Semi final and Final of the 3YO Breeders Crown and has twice won four year old races on this circuit since. She scorched home in a fast last quarter when an easy winner here last week and although this is a lot harder, she looks well up to this level. TSUNAMI LOMBO (5) has been a model of consistency since been taken over by Geoff Webster, winning seven of 14 and not missing a place. He sprinted to the lead at the bell and cleared out with a 55.9 last half to beat a handy field by 23 metres at Bendigo last weekend and gets his chance to show just how good he is. TROJAN LUCK (10) is a talented but sometimes wayward gelding who stays well and will be hoping for a solid speed up front. He rates an excellent each way chance. Next best are LIGHTING TWO UP (4), a winner of seven of his last eight but rising in grade big time; and VERY CHIC (13) who was brave when wide in the last lap and outstaying TROJAN LUCK (10) here last week. He's unbeaten in four appearances on this circuit and although he hasn't started since winning the Breeders Crown Final six weeks ago and has a handicap mark to contend with, he should be too classy for them. SAVE A SIXPENCE (9) will be all out to win this Scotch Notch Memorial as his trainer Graeme Lang was the mentor of that great mare. He ran second to Acacia Ridge in a standing start back mark at the Valley in August then won and was placed against the pacers last month. He looks a clear second pick to the favourite. CRESCENT GLORY (3) is back to the top form he showed a couple of seasons back with a tough Moonee Valley success a fortnight ago and a desperately unlucky second here last week. ALBY ALBERT (6) failed when favourite in a Battle of the Claimers heat here a month ago but on his form of last season and with the freshen up, he deserves respect. Stablemate THE URBAN LEGEND (5) did plenty of work and battled on okay for a close fourth at Ballarat a fortnight ago and he could be the value runner. TIMESONYOURSIDE (11) has been just behind the placegetters in recent metro runs at much stronger level and has each way claims here along with ROCKET WARRIOR (10), runner up in his heat and sixth in the Final of the Claiming Masters to Prince Bonton here over the past fortnight.
