Herald Sun Form Guide : October 3rd 2009
heraldsun.com.au Herald Sun, Saturday, October 3, 2009 43 + + FB123 C M Y K DHS 3-OCT-2009 PAGE 43 FIRST www.tab.com.au Flemington TODAY HERALD SUN SUPERFORM LIFTOUT PROS TALKING HOT JOCKS Horse for course: Turnbull Stakes contender Vigor has an excellent record at Flemington. MIDNIGHT OIL with TIM HABEL TRACK: Dead 4 PENETROMETER: 4.80 RAIL: Out 9m LAST MEETING: True Sept 12 LAST TIME OUT 9m: June 27 RAINFALL: 18.6mm for week IRRIGATION: 5mm for week RADAR: Early shower 1 ALL eight runners unraced so it goes without saying watch the market if you want to bet. PELLIZOTTI (2) was the pick of those to trial at Cranbourne. GARVAN (1) also trialled well as did SWEET CHEEKS (7) who ran the fastest time but was pushed out. ON-PACERS: Insufficient exposed form. SWOOPERS: Insufficient exposed form. SUGGESTED BET: Nil. 2 LOOKS a match between the impressive TRIBUNAL (2) and SHAMOLINE WARRIOR (5) who gets blinkers for the first time. Tribunal can race handy and im- pressed with his win last time as he was a sitting shot after working to the lead mid-race. STONEBLACK (1) should have finished closer in the same race and gets some weight relief. ON-PACERS: Tribunal, Saint Encosta. SWOOPERS: Stoneblack, Shamoline Warrior, Hanks. SUGGESTED BET: Tribunal straight out.3 TOLLESPRIT (3) has made a rapid recovery from his last in the Guineas Prelude when he was galloped on and pulled up lame with a back problem. There has to be some query on him, but his previous run when fifth to Black Caviar in the Danehill was an eye-catcher. SIGMA (6) has won two mid-weekers in good style in Sydney. Well regarded WEASLEY (9) won a Showcase maiden on debut, beating a sub- sequent Moonee Valley winner on Wednesday. ON-PACERS: Sigma, Crossley. SWOOPERS: Tickets, Delago Bolt, Tollesprit, Bawaardi, Eclair Fastpass, Weasley. SUGGESTED BET: Tollesprit each- way. 4 A firmer track is the key to an improvement from AJC Oaks placegetter MISS DARCEY (6). She was beaten on slow ground at the Valley last time but would have finished much closer but for a severe check on the turn. Her 4.5len Group 1 Doomben Cup (2020m) fifth is great form for this. LIGHT VISION (2) won this race last year with 2kg less after running second in the Naturalism. He again ran second in the Naturalism last time proving he's in similar form. FIGURE OF SPEECH (4) won at the track and trip in July, NAVAL ES- CORT (13) is a Bart Cummings stayer who won a restricted race at Geelong and was competitive in the AJC and SA Derbys. ON-PACERS: Light Vision, Sermon. SWOOPERS: Cats Fun, Figure Of Speech, Hoorang, Miss Darcey, Red First, Fordee, Naval Escort. SUGGESTED BET: Miss Darcey each-way. 5 STAR Sydney mare HOT DANISH (2) is classes above her rivals here and would be conced- ing weight to every runner in a handicap. She's dual Group 1-placed and beat a good mare, Madame Pedrille, with 61kg when resuming. She won second-up here last spring down the straight over 1200m. CATS WHISKER (6) was just run down by top mare Zarita at Moonee Valley. She won the Let's Elope at this trip here, beating the consistent ROMNEYA (5) , will race on the pace and looks the exacta horse. NEROLI (4) ran well first-up and is better suited by the extra 200m. ON-PACERS: Augusta Proud, Tem- pest Tost, Cats Whisker. SWOOPERS: Hot Danish, Neroli, Romneya, Pravana. SUGGESTED BET: Hot Danish straight out, exacta with 6. 6 MONT FLEURI (3) is shaping as a genuine Oaks filly and will appreciate her first try at 1600m. She had to change course in the straight, while impressive winner Irish Lights had an unimpeded run in the Tranquil Star at Caulfield. MAJESTIC MUSIC (1) grabbed a winning lead before holding off stablemate and subsequent Stutt Stakes placegetter Miss With Attitude to win in Adelaide last time. SILENT SURROUND (2) hasn't got out of first gear in her two runs since coming from Adelaide. She's a winner at the trip in the SA Sires'. FOMALITE (7) ran on well in the Tranquil Star. ON-PACERS: Pearl Of The Sea, Silkyanna. SWOOPERS: Majestic Music, Silent Surround, Mont Fleuri, Fomalite, Livia. SUGGESTED BET: Mont Fleuri straight out. 7 MALDIVIAN (3) is poised to break his Flemington maiden status after a monster run second-up in the Underwood Stakes. He should glide across, lead and dominate the race. PREDATORY PRICER (11) and VIGOR (9) also come through the Underwood. Blink- ers come off Predatory Pricer, who should be more tractable. Vigor should have finished closer in the Underwood and has a fabulous Flemington record. RED RULER (15) is the weight horse but hasn't won in his last 16 starts. ZAGREB (14) ran third in the Australian Cup third-up in the autumn and may place. ON-PACERS: Maldivian. SWOOPERS: Zipping, Efficient, Mas- ter O'Reilly, C'est La Guerre, Vigor, Predatory Pricer, Zagreb, Red Ruler. SUGGESTED BET: Maldivian each- way. 8 HOT sprint race with a host of chances. ORTENSIA (15) is a high class mare who is very good fresh. She's untried down the straight but trialled here on Tuesday. ALL SILENT (1), SWICK (3), LIGHT FAN- TASTIC (4), FIRST COMMAND (10), EAGLE FALLS (11) FIST OF FURY (12) and HUXSSEN (14) are among the main dangers. The pick of these may be the race-fit Eagle Falls. While First Command faces his toughest test he keeps winning. ON-PACERS: Imashadow, First Command. SWOOPERS: All Silent, Swick, Light Fantastic, Eagle Falls, Fist Of Fury, Huxssen, Ortensia. SUGGESTED BET: Ortensia each- way. 9 RIGHTFULLY YOURS (5) had the run of the race when he won first-up beating KEYTOMONEY (6) and AB ALMALIK (10) and should get a nice trail just off the speed again here. He's twice won second-up and should go close. ROYAL DISCRETION (4) looks the leader from his favourable draw. He was close up in the Cameron when resuming and won a Group 3 1400m at Caulfield second-up last spring. CHASM (1), PINNACLES (3) and FAMOUS ROMAN (14) all ran well at Group 1 level last time. ON-PACERS: Royal Discretion, Philda, La Rocket. SWOOPERS: Chasm, Pinnacles, Rightfully Yours, Keytomoney, Ab Almalik, Famous Roman. SUGGESTED BET: Rightfully Yours each-way. THE MAIL GUEST TIPSTER Tim Habel First 4 FLEMINGTON (R7 No. 2): There is a $52,000 jackpot on the Turnbull First 4. Anchor Maldivian to win from 9, 11, 14, 15 for second into the two fields, for a flexi 10 per cent for $90. Matt Stewart PARLAY FLEMINGTON Keen on an each- way parlay. Shamoline Warrior (R2), Figure Of Speech (R4), Hot Danish (R5, win), Red Lord (R7, each-way) and Dr Doute's (R9) are all morals. Michael Manley QUADDIE FLEMINGTON With almost $100,000 added to the Flemington quaddie via a jackpot it is the bet to target. 1st leg: 1,3. 2nd leg: 3,9,10,11,15. 3rd leg: 10,14,15. 4th Leg: 1,4,5,6,14,16. $50 flexi returns 27.78%. Nick Quinn RUNNING DOUBLE Randwick (Races 7 & 8): Back former English galloper Speed Gifted. He needs to win to get into the Caulfield Cup and Melbourne Cup. Take him in double with Rangirangdoo. The BIG6 will operate on the following meetings. Flemington gallops: Leg 1: Race 4: 1.50. Leg 2: Race 5: 2.30. Leg 3: Race 6: 3.10. Leg 4: Race 7: 3.50. Leg 5: Race 8: 4.30. Leg 6: Race 9: 5.10. Mieke Buchan Westfield Racing Ambassador Race 3 Flemington No. 5 Kidnapped Race 7 Flemington No. 8 C'est La Guerre Tom Waterhouse BOOKMAKER MORE JOYOUS (Rand R5 No.2): Mum has her absolutely flying, she returned to winning form in dynamic fashion last start and she looks as if she will string her second win in a row together today. David Hayes TRAINER TRICARICO (Flem R1 No. 5): Has trialled well in private and wouldn't be here unless he'd trialled well. DIVINE CHOICE (Flem R1 No. 6): Has also trialled well in private. BAWAARDI (Flem R3 No. 4): Going OK but needs a dry track. RED FIRST (Flem R4 No. 8): Has sneaked up on the stable a bit. Another who needs a dry track. If he wins we'll be wondering why we didn't enter him for the Cups. LIVIA (Flem R6 No. 8): Had no luck last start and still finished the race off impressively. Not sure she's mature enough to get to the Oaks but this race and the Wakeful are suitable. Nice filly. RECORRIDO (Flem R6 No. 9): Bit similar to the other filly. No superstars in this race this year and she'll be competitive. ZAGREB (Flem R7 No. 14): I'd be hoping he steps up because he's well weighted in the Cups. Needs a dry track. He's ready to show his best. EAGLE FALLS (Flem R8 No. 11): He works like a Group 1 horse. This is his biggest test but I'm expecting a big run. VON COSTA DE HERO (Flem R9 No. 9): The ticks are that he's back to Flemington, where he won the Sires', and we've put the winkers on again. Colin Little TRAINER ISTA KAREEM (Flem R4 No. 1): He would have gone to Sydney for the Metropolitan if there was a hint of rain, unfortunately there is not so he is racing today on the way to the Moonee Valley Cup. Should go well today. EL SEGUNDO (Flem R7 No. 2): Bit of a mystery why he hasn't done his best racing at Flemington, he is well within himself and sure to give good account of himself today, but his grand final is the Cox Plate in three weeks' time. DWAYNE Dunn has a top book of rides at Flemington and is $3.20 favourite to win the TAB Sportsbet Jockey Challenge. THE MARKET $3.20 Dwayne Dunn $3.50 Danny Nikolic $5.50 Damien Oliver $6.00 Craig Williams $6.50 Any other indiv. jockey $14.00 Chris Symons $21.00 Nicholas Hall $21.00 Hugh Bowman THE BANKERS ON CLASS HOT DANISH (R5 No. 2) ON VIDEO MONT FLEURI (R6 No. 3) MALDIVIAN (R7 No. 3) $50 FLEXI QUADDIE FOR 34.7% 1, 2, 3/3, 9, 11/1, 3, 4, 10, 11, 12, 14, 5/4, 5
