Herald Sun Form Guide : October 3rd 2009
52 Herald Sun, Saturday, October 3, 2009 heraldsun.com.au + + + + FB123 C M Y K DHS 3-OCT-2009 PAGE 52 FIRST Assessment: RIVER BLUE (10) made the pace and battled on keenly to finish 2.3m 3rd to Triple Nip in 1609m Newcastle C0/ C1 Sep 26. That was best run for some time and could be one to follow with a degree of confidence. DOUBLE REDUNDANCY (9) rises in class a bit following solid 3.5m 2nd to Surferoo in 2030m Newcastle R1/R2 Sep 24. Did land 1.8m win from Sauce Bottle in 2030m Newcastle C0 Jun 6. Keep safe. NUBIAN WARRIOR (5) made light of back row to land neck win from Press To Collect in 2140m Bankstown C0 Apr 2 but has not raced since 3m 2nd to Cosmic Spirit in 2095m Penrith R0/R1 Apr 12. Take on trust. EMMAS PRINCE (2) broke through for overdue victory when enjoying one-one trail for much of trip and finishing powerfully for 5.5m win from Kickbackncruze in 1609m Newcastle C0/C1 Sep 26. Now he has found winners stall, it could pay to follow. SELECTIONS: BLAXLAND BREW (6), Nubian Warrior (5), Double Redundancy (9), River Blue (10) 2 Pace 6.45 2030m. $5000. Up in class but hard to ignore latest effort. Knockout hope. MISS AQUA ROSE (1) had to do a ton of work outside leader when fair 6m 4th to Surferoo in 2030m Newcastle R1/R2 Sep 24, was $2.80 fav. Landed half head win from Littleyellowjacket in 2030m Newcastle R0 Aug 27. Keep in mind. BLACK JACK MCCOOL (5) resumed in brilliant fashion showing a clean pair of heels from a wide gate to lead and score runaway 11.2m win from Republic Australia in 1609m Newcastle R0 Sep 24. Stays under keen notice. LOMBO EL GRECO (2) trailed pace throughout but unable to match it in run home when 15.1m 3rd to Black Jack McCool in that same Newcastle race last week. This class is no tougher. Hard to beat. RUNNING (1) raced roughly in middle stages and could pay to forgive 10.6m 5th to Our Crusherdust in that same Newcastle race last week. Sustained wide sprint to land 4.2m win from Freestyle Jack in 2030m Newcastle C4/C6 Sep 5. Makes strong appeal. IM STEPPING ALONG (11) could not have missed his gallant effort last time after being caught three wide, he worked to line stoutly when 1.7m 2nd to Arra Bayou in 2030m Newcastle R3/R5 Sep 24. Will see them all early but cannot be underestimated. SIGN IN GOLD (1) produced a solid effort when three wide without cover for short head 2nd to Power In Motion in 1609m Newcastle C2/C4 Sep 26. MICKEY DILLINGER (7) is a new claimer who won well defeating Three Oclock Rock here two starts back before leading when runner-up behind Ultimate Mark last week. That was a top effort and he'll give this a big shake. ANITOM (3) is nicely drawn and he was good winner here three starts back and tried hard behind Farouk last week. THREE OCLOCK ROCK (6) is drawn a touch wide but he has won three (placed three) of his past six and is always thereabouts at this level. Making two runs in a race isn't his cup of tea and his work since has pleased the stable. They look the two main winning chances, although OMAHA BEACH (5) has some each-way appeal on his form since coming to SA. The Peta Brown stable is enjoying a top start to the season. He's been a safe conveyance in each of his three starts to date and he'll run a race here, although it's a strong-ish field with some in-form and more experienced runners. Among them is MERTYLS LOUIS (6), who was a strong winner at Cranbourne last start but is probably better from the mobile than the stand. PUGSLEE THE PONY hadn't put a hoof wrong until he galloped under pressure here two weeks ago. If he trots throughout he'll be promiment here. FIG LEAF EVE (7) will relish the drop back to 10m from the 40m she was off a couple of weeks back when 2nd to the impressive Earl Castleton. She's worth plenty of thought, while PINEVALE ADAM (5) is a massive place chance on his recent efforts. He's a non-winner but he's sound and tries hard. It would be a surprise if anything else won.
