EAGLES BLOOD (12) is the class runner of the field and he was most impressive in his first up Shepparton victory a fortnight ago when sprinting from last on the home turn to win in a fast mobile trip of 1:57.9 for the middle distance. He ll be fitter for that, his first run since January, but against him is that he s only been placed once in six tries from the stand. BY THE SWORD (10) has taken to the stand well with placings here and at Moonee Valley recently sandwiched around a close Horsham mobile second. He made good ground from the rear when beaten a nose at the Valley last week. TSUNAMI LOMBO (6) had terrific form before weakening badly after Bonavista Bay looked him in the eye in the Melton Plate a fortnight ago. He s dropping back to a winnable level and has a good record of seven wins from his 22 starts, but this is his first try from the stand. BELOKA DIAMOND (13) was spotted flashing home along the pegs for fifth at the Valley last week and looks to be getting back to her best form. Each way chances to HEATHVALE LAD (1), SOMOYA (4), UNICYCLE (7), COBARGO BARNEY (8) and CHARLEYS DREAM (15). Ratings:12/6,10/13/1,4,7,8,15. Now an eleven year old, he comes off back-to-back trial wins here, the latest when rating 1:59.3 to score by 54 metres and finishing off in 56.1. He certainly has class on his side but it s hard to gauge his winning chance after such a long time off. ROMEO CASTLE (9) hasn t won for nearly a year but put the writing on the wall with a fast finishing third here a fortnight ago and he rates highly. LUV THA ACES LOMBO (7) impressed when coming from last to win first up here a month ago, then wasn t suited when unplaced from the stand here last time. He is this time. THE GUNSTAR (4) has returned to somewhere near his best form in recent times with two good wins here from his last four starts. He has gate speed and will position more forward than the other winning chances. Also in the mix are VILLAGE PUNGEE (3), who s due to improve; GET THE MONET (8), who s in career best form but up in grade; and FEW GOOD MEN (10), who hasn t started since April but recently rated 1:58.7 in a Ballarat trial victory. He s only had six starts and opened his winning account impressively here three starts back before a close second from the breeze at Ballarat, then sat three wide for the last lap when an arrogant Maryborough winner a fortnight ago. Whatever beats him here will win. CHRISTISIMO (7) is a talented filly who made it four wins from her latest five starts when sprinting sharply in the last lap to win at Shepparton recently. Place chances at least to all other runners with the best of those being BULLDOZER (1); ex-Newcastle performer DARKBOLT (3), who s new to Andy Gath; FLIGHT TO MIKINOS (5); and handy filly FAYES MY GIRL (9). He won both heat and Final of a strong 3YO affair in July, beating the outstanding Make Mine Cullen in the latter of those, then finished his last preparation with an easy all the way Kilmore victory at the end of July. He has blistering gate speed and looks ideally suited from this draw over the sprint trip. MISTER GNP (11) is another former New Zealander who joined the Tony Peacock stable a couple of months ago for victories at Kilmore and here from the stand in "The Graduate: at the end of August where he beat a highly talented field of three year olds. He fought on well for third to Make Mine Cullen in a similar race to this here five weeks ago at his latest start and should freshen nicely into this winnable affair. COOL AND CASUAL (4) has won five of 16, the most recent of those victories a first up Kilmore CO effort three weeks ago. Thrown in at the deep end at his next start, he finished well back in the Melton Plate, then appreciated his drop back in grade and added fitness where he led and set Make Mine Cullen a task at the Valley last week when cut down late by that top mare in a blistering 56.4 last half. Best of the others is handy mare WHODYOU WANTMETOBE (7), who s won a couple of Ballarat races in recent times, with each way chances also to VIATROSS (1) and COMMANDER CULLEN (5). The polemarker should lead with SARUM PRINCE (11) having to do plenty in the final circuit but his recent form has been outstanding and he will certainly make a good race of it. HARRY WALTON (3) finally had some luck when using the sprint lane in a breakthrough metro victory at the Valley last week, and he ll settle just off the pace once more. He rates as the clear third pick. Each way chances to SMOKIN JOKER (2), who s always thereabouts and has the good alley; SPRING HILL (5), who wasn t disgraced when fourth from the breeze in a hot mares race here a fortnight ago; MCLLHATTON (6), who broke through for an overdue Ballarat victory last week; and FLYING CLASS (9), a winner here five starts back who went okay in a strong claimer here last week. From the draw, she s the clear top pick. DONTWANTANO (3) has been racing well from second line draws on this circuit and gets his chance to win his MO. He beat a good field at Ballarat four runs back and has come from near the rear in recent runs here for a solid third to The Gunstar and fourths to Get The Monet and Sarum Prince in a 1:54.6 sprint affair here a fortnight ago when screaming home from last on the turn. RUN RILEY RUN (11) was second up when narrowly beaten from the breeze at Geelong a fortnight ago, then found trouble at a vital stage when looming large at the Valley last week. Rate him highly. TOGETHER WE DO (5) worked hard to find the breeze and led in the home straight when cut down late by Harry Walton at the Valley last week and is close to a win at this level. Good each way chances to MY GOLD ART (7), who s won both starts from a spell but draws awkwardly; SIRNELSON OF ASCOT (8), who led when cut down late at the Valley last week and should get a soft trailing trip this time; and TOPNOTCH DAN (10), who comes off an excellent third here to Sarum Prince and a close nose third here last weekend. CHRISTIAN MELODY (12) continued her run of good form at this level when flashing home from near last to win the Blossom Lady in a fast 1:57.9 from STACCATO (13) here a month ago and she ll be mighty hard to beat. DEANNA TROY (9) was the best mare in the land this time last year but hasn t really fired to her best level in recent times except when a luckless and fast finishing third at Moonee Valley to CHRISTIAN MELODY (12) two starts back. Unsuited when sixth from the stand here last time, she ll be a big improver here and can bounce back and win her first race since last December. VERY CHIC (11) rarely runs a bad race. She won two of three starts here last month, the latter of those when outstaying winners since Trojan Luck and The Gunstar, and she finished an outstanding fourth to Bonavista Bay from an awkward second line draw in the Melton Plate last time when off the track in a 56.3 last half. MISS LAURA JANE (4) ran her best race for some time when narrowly beaten into third place from the breeze here last week and draws to upset her more fancied rivals. Good each way chances to top mare LADY OCTAVIA (1), who was first up for six weeks when winning here last Sunday; BAY TORRENT (6), who s in career best form -- she ran 1:56.0 to win over the mile at the Valley last week; SOPHIE PASS (8), who s had no luck in recent starts and can certainly win this with the right run; and STACCATO (13), who looked good when following her second here to CHRISTIAN MELODY (12) with a flashing finish from last to win here a fortnight ago. She looks ready to handle this stronger class. YENTLS STAR (5) won here three starts back then was placed on this circuit before running into traffic and making late ground at the Valley last week. He s back to his good form of a couple of years back. TAISON (1) won 7 of 20 last season before making a mistake when resuming from a short break here a fortnight ago. He ll run a bold race here from the pole. In an open race, there isn t a runner that can t win with perhaps the best of the others being TAMSYN ELLE (2), SUNSET TRUSCOTT (6) and FALSE GEM (11). Ratings: 8/1,5/2/6,11/allothers. Suggested bet: HEYZEAL (8) to win. Q4 ALL THE BEST BEST ON TIMES: SARUM PRINCE (Race 5 No. 11) Bolted in here two weeks ago in 1:54.6 for this trip. He has the second row tonight but if the speed is genuine watch for him to be the swooper. BEST ON CLASS: STING LIKA BEE (Race 2 No. 11) This veteran is a proven Group 1 winner and looks beautifully placed for his racetrack return after nearly two years on the sidelines due to injury. BEST ON VIDEO: VERY CHIC (Race 7 No. 11) She is in career best form and her fourth behind super star Bonavista Bay in the Melton Plate last time was outstanding from a horror alley. BEST ON RECORD: HOLLYWOOD BROMAC (Race 4 No. 3) This former Kiwi has been in hot form since arriving in Australia for the Lance Justice stable. He is shooting for four on end tonight and from the draw he looks very tough to beat.
