Herald Sun Form Guide : October 17th 2009
heraldsun.com.au Herald Sun, Saturday, October 17, 2009 49 + + FB123 C M Y K DHS 17-OCT-2009 PAGE 49 FIRST www.tab.com.au Caulfield TODAY HERALD SUN SUPERFORM LIFTOUT PROS TALKING HOT JOCKS Will need luck: 2007 Caulfield Cup winner Master O'Reilly is racing in peak form but is drawn wide. MIDNIGHT OIL with TiM HABEL TRACK: Dead 4 PENETROMETER: 5.33 RAIL: Out 6m LAST MEETING: True. Wednesday LAST TIME OUT 6m: August 15 RAINFALL: 12.5mm for week IRRIGATION: 8mm for week RADAR: Possible showers 1 SO ANYWAY (2) and MR GIRL HELEN (3) are down in grade from top runs at Group level behind the flying Avenue. Query runner is IMPULSIVE DREAM (6) new addition to Lee Freedman yard. He was second in the QTC Sires' Produce, beating home Carrara which is great form for this. ON-PACERS: Baby Corn, Azwa, Starry Eyed. SWOOPERS: So Anyway, My Girl Helen, Impulsive Dream. SUGGESTED BET: Box quinellas 2, 3, 6.2 BAWAARDI (2) raced on speed and showed plenty of fight last time beating home WEASLEY (4), KIDNAPPED (1) and SIGMA (3) who meet again. Kidnapped ran on well and will be fitter. Blinkers go on Weasley. ON-PACERS: Bawaardi, Sigma. SWOOPERS: Kidnapped, Weasley. SUGGESTED BET: Bawaardi straight out, quinellas with 1, 3, 4. 3 RUN FOR NAARA (1) has a win over Extra Zero at Flemington and a closing second to Denman two runs back, which reads as great form for this fillies-only race. Forgive her heavy track failure in the Flight Stakes. Despite the 59kg she's the class factor. LIVIA (2) ran on strongly after being held up in the Edward Manifold. Lightly raced VALDEMORO (5) is bred to stay and ran on well at the Valley last time. ON-PACERS: Golden Portrait, Absolute Joy. SWOOPERS: Run For Naara, Livia, Silkyanna, Valdemoro, Zapurb. SUGGESTED BET: Run For Naara straight out. 4 GEAR changes of blinkers and tongue tie on could give TRIBUNAL (5) the extra lift he needs to reverse his narrow Flemington defeat at the hands of SHAMOLINE WARRIOR (2). Crucially he's drawn to get cover and gets his chance. Shamoline Warrior responded to blinkers at Flemington. GATHERING (3) is an on-pacer who comes off a Spring Champion second. ON-PACERS: Gathering. SWOOPERS: Onemorenomore, Shamoline Warrior, Tribunal, Saint Encosta. SUGGESTED BET: Tribunal each- way. 5 RIGHTFULLY YOURS (5) is an ultra-consistent galloper who is drawn to get the run of the race again. He meets some proven Group 1 performers including ORANGE COUNTY (1) and SNIPER'S BULLET (11) who hasn't won since his Stradbroke success in June 2007. But he's eight times Group-placed since and well weighted under set weights and penalties conditions. Second-up last spring he was beaten less than a length by All Silent at 1400m. ROYAL DISCRETION (2) won this race last year with a kilo less. ON-PACERS: Royal Discretion, McClintock. SWOOPERS: Orange County, Right- fully Yours, Sniper's Bullet. SUGGESTED BET: Rightfully Yours each-way. 6 THIS looks a match between Sydney's star mare HOT DANISH (2) and Melbourne's best TYPHOON TRACY (3). Typhoon Tracy will probably slot in behind JOLIE'S SHINJU (1) and GOLD WATER (7) while Hot Danish will settle back and charge late. SYMPHONY MISS (10) didn't get much room in the straight when third in the Let's Elope and is a Group 3 winner here at the trip. ON-PACERS: Jolie's Shinju, Gold Water. SWOOPERS: Hot Danish, Neroli, Symphony Miss. SUGGESTED BET: Quinella 2, 3. 7 BAUGHURST (2) won this race last year with half a kilo more. His past two Group 1 efforts say he's racing every bit as well. OAK HEART (20) should have won at Moonee Valley in weaker grade last time. He's up in class and ready to win. DRUMBEATS (4) is talented but is first time to 2000m and drawn wide. SHOCKING (7) is ready to win but ideally would be running over 2400m. ON-PACERS: Sermon, Cape D'Amore. SWOOPERS: Baughurst, Drumbeats, Pacino, Shocking, Hume, Oak Heart. SUGGESTED BET: Baughurst each- way. 8 The internationals versus Bart Cummings. That's how this wide open cup may pan out. The best form of raiders KIRKLEES (2) and CIMA DE TRIOMPHE (4) would win this with the local defence weaker than normal. Any of the Cummings runners can win. VIEWED (1), luck- less in this race last year, ROMAN EMPEROR (7) with blinkers first time, and ALLEZ WONDER (18) who burst onto the scene with her Toorak win. Best of the rest may be Danny O'Brien's pair MASTER O'REILLY (6), the 2007 winner, and VIGOR (17), the weight horse. PREDATORY PRICER (9) has sound form but will need luck from his wide draw as he can over-race. ON-PACERS: Zavite, Light Vision, Vigor. SWOOPERS: Viewed, Kirklees, C'est La Guerre, Master O'Reilly, Roman Emperor, Predatory Pricer, Red Ruler, Daffodil, Allez Wonder. SUGGESTED BET: Box quinellas 1, 4, 7, 18, 20. Roman Emperor place. 9 LOT to like about the consistent FIRST COMMAND (4). He's one of the few on-pacers and should be able to control the race. It took one of the best sprinter-milers in the land All Silent to run him down last time. MORE THAN GREAT (14) is a talented Sydney three-year-old who can race handy but the other main dangers DIPLOMATIC FORCE (3), SECRET FLYER (5), EAGLE FALLS (6) and PHELAN READY (9) like to sit back and swoop. ON-PACERS: First Command. SWOOPERS: More Than Great, Diplomatic Force, Secret Flyer, Eagle Falls, Phelan Ready. SUGGESTED BET: First Command straight out, quinella with 14. 10 BOOGALOO (12) is stakes- placed and has a good formline from her first-up Moonee Valley win over Our Lona, who was a stakes winner last Satur- day. GLAM SLAM (8) won a stakes race before a spell and has sound fresh form but needs luck from the wide draw. JAALIPPY (3), SOLCHOW (4), DELYARA (6) and SEEKING ATTENTION (7) all have claims. ON-PACERS: Delyara. SWOOPERS: Jaalippy, Solchow, Seeking Attention, Glam Slam, Boogaloo. SUGGESTED BET: Boogaloo each- way. THE MAIL GUEST TIPSTER Tim Habel QUINELLA CAULFIELD: (R6 Nos. 2, 3): Hot Danish and Typhoon Tracy. Quinella the gun mares. Should be a safe bet on a tough day. Matt Stewart ALL-UP CAULFIELD: Take the popular Baughurst (R7 No. 2) all-up into the Golden Slipper winner Phelan Ready (R9 No.9). Will be a nice price and looks a great chance. Michael Manley PARLAY CAULFIELD: Combine the three best bets today in a Formula 2 and 3 bet. Take Typhoon Tracy (R6 No. 3) into Baughurst (R7 No. 2) into First Command (R9 No. 4) for $5 which will cost $20. Nick Quinn WIN EAGLE FARM (R6 No. 1): Queensland's best sprinter can amend for a disappointing first-up defeat with victory today. If you are struggling to find a winner at Caulfield, blast out on Burdekin Blues. The BIG6 will operate on the following meetings. Caulfield gallops: Leg 1: Race 5: 2.00. Leg 2: Race 6: 2.40. Leg 3: Race 7: 3.20. Leg 4: Race 8: 4.05. Leg 5: Race 9: 4.50. Leg 6: Race 10: 5.30. The Meadows greyhounds: Leg 1: Race 4: 8.20. Leg 2: Race 5: 8.38. Leg 3: Race 6: 9.00. Leg 4: Race 7: 9.20. Leg 5: Race 8: 9.38. Leg 6: Race 9: 9.57. Tom Noble Gen. Manager Marketing BMW Race 1 Caulfield No. 11 Pass The Parcel Race 8 Caulfield No. 4 Cima De Triomphe Ernie Campagna BOOKMAKER PREDATORY PRICER (Caul R8 No. 9): His right price is about $5.50. He's got the best local form by far. Robert Smerdon TRAINER MAKEADREAMCOMETRUE (Caul R5 No. 7): He'll need good speed on because he gets back. This is a class rise but you'd expect he'd be running on. SADDLER'S STORY (Caul R7 No. 16): He needed the run at 2000m last start. We scratched him from Moe Thursday because he doesn't handle the wet. He's got blinkers on from an awkward gate. I'll be happy if he's running on. LIGHT VISION (Caul R8 No. 13): He's fit and well and has had a trouble-free preparation. He'll roll forward and try and slot in. It all depends on the sort of run he gets. If it works out all right, with his light weight, stranger things have happened. GLOBAL WARMING (Caul R9 No. 12): He'll get back and needs to settle. This is a pretty tough race. TURQUIA (Caul R10 No. 11): I was happy enough with her first-up run and she's got some chance if they're coming wide late. Danny O'Brien TRAINER RACHINE (Caul R1 No. 8): Probably my best hope for the day. Two runs for us have been good, this looks a suitable race and the 1400m suits. Should run well. SAVAGING (Caul R2 No. 6): Lightly raced colt who has taken a couple of runs to work out what it's all about. Obviously we have an opinion of him to be running in this. Ready to run a big race. MASTER O'REILLY (Caul R8 No. 6): Racing right up to his peak performances in the past, but obviously needs the breaks to go his way from a wide barrier. VIGOR (Caul R8 No. 17): I'm happy to forgive his run last time, but he'll also need luck from a very wide draw. GLAM SLAM (Caul R10 No. 8): A stakes-winning mare down on the limit (weight). I'm expecting a really good showing. Sydney jockey Hugh Bowman is a $3.20 favourite to win today's TAB Jockey Challenge.
