Three starts ago he led throughout to win from gate six, then two starts ago he was only beaten 7m at Mildura after leading, when they rated 2.00.7. He should get a cosy run from the inside of the second row and could be looking for the sprint lane late. BELLA BOUDICCA (1) had won two in a row before a handy 3rd last start behind Kimiko Three, when she looked to have every chance. This looks an easier assignment and she has the gate speed to lead from the pole. TOTALLY CLASSY (6) finished 5m behind BELLA BOUDICCA on that occasion and has been racing well enough without winning. The draw is a test but he faced the same assignment three starts ago when a head 2nd to Amberlu Girls. SAVED BY DOUG (4) took 47 starts to break through for a win but his recent form is very sound. He should be within striking distance from this draw and is a place chance at the very least. Hard to see any of the rest winning, although the enigmatic SIR MARTINEZ (9) could bob up in the placings. The 2230m suits and he was a soft Mildura winner two starts back before finishing runner-up behind Miss Winfrey last time. MISTER MINCHEN (6) is drawn off the track but was runner-up behind Gypsy Cruiser last time and should go well. DAVIDROY (4) was a Mildura winner three starts back and wasn't far behind Gypsy Cruiser last time. TIBETAN LILLY (8) should get a nice run behind the speed and was a good winner here two starts back. He faced the breeze last time behind Seafield Cullen and should take some beating if he can hold the lead over the 1800m journey. STANLEY ROLESTONE (4) won five races last season and he was too good for Babbo here three starts back and looks very well suited. LINGA LONGA LASS (2) was a winner here five starts back and she wasn't far away last time when 3rd behind Gypsy Cruiser. KEEP SECURE (3) led early before taking a trail when a good winner over Dyagon Valley. TOWN PRINCE (7) is drawn wide but has been racing well in a touch stronger class. Both of those wins came at his only attempts from the stand in SA, including January's Victor Harbor Cup when he gave them 30m. All of his other attempts have been in Victoria, in much harder company. He's clearly the one to beat. AWESOME ALBA'S (6) last couple of efforts from the mobile have been full of merit given the stand is probably more his go. It's hard to see him beating Conte but he'll keep him honest. JEFFERSON (4) is another stand who loves the stand and is well and truly up to running a place here and the same goes for HILTON ADONIS (8), who was beaten only 2.5m by JEFFERSON under these conditions four starts ago. MYTHICAL BEAST (7) and PICCOLO WIL WIL (5) are also worth thought for the multiples. SELECTIONS: CONTE DE CRISTO (9), Awesome Alba (6), Jefferson (4), Hilton Adonis (8) Q1 5 Pace 8.52 2230m. $6500. He hasn't raced since January when down the track behind Royal rachel. He was a good winner over Lorenzo Bromac four starts back and must be given plenty of thought. He should be primed for his first-up assault. MCROAMIN (2) won six races last season and he wasn't far away when 4th behind Massarua in claiming company last time. He looks well graded from the draw. SICKLE MOND (4) was a good winner over Town Prince three starts back and she is better than last time when 9th, only beaten 9.7m behind Barabas here last week. She looks the improver. OHOKA DAKOTA (5) led throughout to score back in class last time and must be considered despite drawing a fraction wide. OUR COUNT JAMES (1) draws nicely here and wasn't far away last time. LADY LIKEALOT (2) has a handy record and she was a soft winner over ROCK THE BOAT (6) last time and should run a bold race from the good draw. SLAMMIN STAN (4) has been in great form here in SA and he covered plenty of ground last time when down the track. He was winner here four starts back and looks an improver. STREZLECKI ACE (5) is a former Tasmanian come Victorian who was a good winner here back in class last time and must be considered. The draw is of some concern but go back to five starts ago and he won from the outside of the front row at geelong, rating 1.59.9. Stablemate SMARTY ARTY (1) will relish being drawn close to the pegs and has the gate speed to lead and give them something to catch. It could easily be a Gallagher quinella. TROUBLE NO MORE (5) was outclassed at Melton last weekend. He'll find this much easier and his previous form in country Victoria was sound. He's not here for a holiday! DANGER MOUSE (4) is another Gallagher runner and SMARTY ARTY's younger half-brother.
