Herald Sun Form Guide : November 3rd 2009
heraldsun.com.au Herald Sun, Tuesday, November 3, 2009 35 + + FB123 C M Y K DHS 3-NOV-2009 PAGE 35 FIRST www.tab.com.au Flemington TODAY HERALD SUN SUPERFORM LIFTOUT PROS TALKING HOT JOCKS Right in mix: Shocking has a wide gate (22) but a light weight (51kg) in today's Melbourne Cup. MIDNIGHT OIL with TIM HABEL TRACK: Dead 4 PENETROMETER: 4.85 RAIL: Out 2m LAST MEETING: True Oct 31. RAINFALL: 4.2mm since Saturday IRRIGATION: 9mm since Saturday RADAR: Possible showers 1 Obvious market watch on the 14 unraced. DEVILS MELODY (1) worked home well at Moonee Valley on debut and blinkers go on. ON-PACERS: Lack of exposed form. SWOOPERS: Lack of exposed form. SUGGESTED BET: Nil 2 EPIC JOURNEY (15) had to go back from a wide draw and made ground late from last at Geelong. She has a placing behind Marveen here and has drawn better this time. BUBBLE BELOW (8) has a stakes second to super mare Typhoon Tracy this year and blinkers go on. BEAUCOUP (2), LAMARR (5), HOLY GUACAMOLEY (9) can place. ON-PACERS: Justsay Sumthink, Holy Guacamoley, Lara's Glitter. SWOOPERS: Game Serena, Beaucoup, Bashful Girl, Lamarr, Bubble Below, Epic Journey. SUGGESTED BET: Epic Journey each-way, quinellas with 2, 5, 8, 9. 3 Bart Cummings won this race last year with Dandaad and his THINK MONEY (9), despite being a maiden, has great form for this. She's Oaks-placed and last start ran third in the Moonee Valley Cup. OAK HEART (15) ran a sound sixth in the same race, going wider on the turn. ZACROONA (6), FORDEE (7), COURTNEY (8), MR MARCIANO (11) are place chances. ON-PACERS: Doosra Diamond, Ken And Kim, Father Dex. SWOOPERS: Completion, Zacroona, Fordee, Courtney, Think Money, Mr Marciano, Oak Heart. SUGGESTED BET: Think Money and Oak Heart straight out, quinella 9, 15. 4 Class mare ORTENSIA (2) looks a standout after getting within a length of Apache Cat at Moonee Valley. She has a Stradbroke third at the trip, which is super form for this. ROMNEYA (3), DANE JULIA (5), SYMPHONY MISS (7), ALVERTA (9), TOOTSIE (13), HIDDEN ENERGY (15), STRAWBERRY FIELD (18) can place. ON-PACERS: Dane Julia, Sen- sational Toy. SWOOPERS: Ortensia, Romneya, Symphony Miss, Rose Syrah, Alverta, Tootsie, Hidden Energy. SUGGESTED BET: Ortensia straight out, exactas with 3, 5, 7, 9, 13, 15, 18. 5 Impossible to go past DEFI- NITELY READY (4). He's a flyer and settled better at Caulfield, so the more demanding straight 1000m here shouldn't stop him winning again. Place hopes to BROKEN (3), TARIKS (8), DANESCAPE (9) and RUE MAPLE (10). ON-PACERS: Broken, Definitely Ready. SWOOPERS: Tariks, Danescape, Rue Maple. SUGGESTED BET: Exactas 4 from 3, 8, 9, 10. 6 KANZAN (3) made her finishing run with Headway at Caulfield last time when there was little between them. That's a great formline for this. The main concern will be to avoid being boxed in. MAJESTIC MUSIC (1), INDIAN OCEAN (2), SO ANYWAY (4), MISS SHAMARDAL (13) to place. ON-PACERS: Martindale Hall, Europa Point, Starry Eyed. SWOOPERS: Majestic Music, Indian Ocean, Kanzan, So Anyway, Miss Shamardal. SUGGESTED BET: Kanzan straight out.7 ALCOPOP (11) turned in the best Melbourne Cup trial I've seen since Media Puzzle's Gee- long Cup win in 2002 when he won the Herbert Power. He has a freakish ability to take runs through a field and Saturday's impressive winner SHOCKING (21) only enhanced his formline. VIEWED (1) is the tried and true Cup performer but has to con- cede 5.5kg to the rising star. Stable- mate ROMAN EMPEROR (6) has a great chance on his Caulfield Cup second. Needs cut in the ground to be at his best. MASTER O'REILLY (4) was an unlucky fourth in the race last year and is racing even better now, but he hasn't won for two years. Shocking had the rails to guide him on Saturday and from 22 will need a ton of luck. Viewed scored an upset last year but this looks a predictable Cup with few winning chances. The best roughie is KIBBUTZ (13), the best international MOURILYAN (5). ON-PACERS: Zavite, Gallions Reach. SWOOPERS: Viewed, Master O'Reilly, Mourilyan, Roman Emperor, Alcopop, Kibbutz, Newport, Basaltico, Daffodil, Shocking, Allez Wonder, Leica Ding. SUGGESTED BET: Alcopop straight out, quinellas, exactas with 1, 4, 5, 6, 21. Trifecta 11 from 1, 4, 5, 6, 21 and the field. 8 MAJESTICAL (2) is back to a firm track and, from the good draw, can improve. SOUND OF NATURE (8) ran on well in a Group 2 at Moonee Valley but has an awkward draw. Place hopes to PILLAR OF HERCULES (3), LA ROCKET (7), STOKEHOUSE (9), THE FONZ (10), VALIDATOR (13). ON-PACERS: La Rocket, Stokehouse. SWOOPERS: Majestical, Pillar Of Hercules, Sound Of Nature, The Fonz, Validator. SUGGESTED BET: Majestical each- way. 9 DIAMONDS AT DUSK (3) has been freshened since a 1400m win here. He's a smart dry- tracker with a terrific fresh record. HERE DE ANGELS (1) is clearly the one to beat but has 60.5kg. AHDASHIM (7), JUGGLE THE BOOKS (8), who won this race last year, BOCUSE (10), BOLD MOVES (11), CUSTODIAN (15) and ROCK HOME LATE (16) can place. ON-PACERS: Here De Angels, Uncle Ivan. SWOOPERS: Diamonds At Dusk, Ahdashim, Juggle The Books, Bocuse, Bold Moves, Custodian, Rock Home Late. SUGGESTED BET: Diamonds At Dusk each-way. 10 HUXSSEN (2) is the best talent in the race. He's a backmarker and will need luck from the rails draw but PRO- DUCED (6) is a very fast horse who will split the field up. Huxssen goes extra well for Matthew Allen. DE MARS (1) has a lot of weight but he was second to Gold Salute first-up here in May at this trip. ON-PACERS: Produced. SWOOPERS: De Mars, Huxssen, Gogocanny, Bondarchuk, Gala Guzzler, Royal Striker, Elumino, Flying Tessie SUGGESTED BET: Huxssen each- way. THE MAIL GUEST TIPSTER Tim Habel QUINELLA/ TRIFECTA/FIRST 4 FLEMINGTON Race 7: Anchor Alcopop (11) to win with 1, 4, 5, 6, 21 to run second, third and field for fourth. Matt Stewart FIRST FOUR FLEMINGTON Race 7: The Cup usually throws up a big trifecta or First 4. There's always a 50-1 chance who sneaks into the frame and adds some kick to the dividend. Not sure that will be the case this year. It should be a two- horse race. I'd anchor Viewed (1) and Alcopop (11) to run one-two, then throw in Master O'Reilly (4), Roman Emperor (6), Shocking (21) and Allez Wonder (22) for third. For fourth add C'est La Guerre (2), Kibbutz (13), Newport (14), Capecover (19) and Daffodil (20). Michael Manley Quadrella FLEMINGTON: The quaddie is the bet to attack as the first two legs look thin then look for value. Take 1,11/3,11/1,2,3,7,10,12,14,15/ 1,2,7,12,14,5,15,16 in $100 flexi for 44.64%. Nick Quinn RUNNING DOUBLE FLEMINGTON (Race 4 No. 2 into Race 5 No. 4 ): Ortensia and Definitely Ready. Both will be extremely hard to beat so take a running double and if you like anything else on the card take all- up bets into the pair. The BIG6 will operate on the following meeting. Flemington gallops: Leg 1: Race 5: 1.15. Leg 2: Race 6: 2.00. Leg 3: Race 7: 3.00. Leg 4: Race 8: 3.50. Leg 5: Race 9: 4.35. Leg 6: Race 10: 5.15. Peter Blunden Managing Director Herald & Weekly Times Race 3 Flemington No. 9 Think Money Race 7 Flemington Box Quinella: Viewed (1), Master O'Reilly (4), Roman Emperor (6). Michael Eskander Bookmaker VIEWED and SHOCKING (Flem R7 No. 1 and No. 21): Can't split Viewed and Shocking. Back them both, take the quinella and Leica Ding for third. Darren Weir TRAINER OAK HEART (Flem R3 No. 15): He loomed up in the Moonee Valley Cup but he didn't go on with it. He may have needed the run but he still might be a query over 2800m. BROKEN (Flem R5 No. 3): He's racing well but it's hard to see him turning the tables on Definitely Ready. MARTINDALE HALL (Flem R6 No. 9): She won her last start easily but it was an ordinary race. The draw makes things a bit tricky and it's the hardest race she has been in but she's kept improving and is a promising young horse. LEICA DING (Flem R7 No. 24): I'm very happy with her and it was a good win at Geelong. She's a grinder and will need luck. A top-10 finish would make me happy. Mike Moroney TRAINER ACROSS THE MOON (Flem R1 No. 5): Nice type of two-year-old who has had a few jumpouts, the last one which she won. Very professional and should run well. LINTON STREET (Flem R3 No. 19): Up-and-coming young stayer who should go through the staying classes. Is rising in grade here though. STORMY HUSSEY (Flem R6 No. 16): She was very impressive last start when she came from last to win. She will have to go back from her wide draw and then need luck. MISSION CRITICAL (Flem R8 No. 6): He was placed in this race last year but he might be half a run short as he has had a few problems. Still I think he will put in an improved run. MICHAEL Rodd is a short-priced favourite to take out today's TAB Jockey Challenge. Rodd has a great book of rides headed by favourites Think Money and Definitely Ready. THE MARKET $1.50 Michael Rodd $4.40 Craig Williams $9.00 Any other indiv. jockey $11.00 Dwayne Dunn $21.00 Danny Nikolic $21.00 Kerrin McEvoy $26.00 Luke Nolen $31.00 Hugh Bowman THE BANKERS ON CLASS ORTENSIA (R4 No. 2) ON FORMLINE KANZAN (R6 No. 3) ON POTENTIAL ALCOPOP (R7 No. 11) $50 FLEXI QUADDIE for 14.8% 11/2,3,7,8,9,10/1,3,7,8,10, 11, 15, 16/1, 2, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16.
