He won three on end before a long spell and resumed nicely to make it four wins in a row at Terang a fortnight ago where he flashed home late to beat winner since, Johnorama. He has a strong finishing sprint and is suited to the long home straight here. LADY OCTAVIA (10) has won twice here recently, the latter of those when using the sprint lane to beat Ultimate Deal (winner since) on this circuit a fortnight ago, then worked hard in the lead and was touched off late in a brilliant 1:57 by Luminous Lombo at Maryborough last Monday. She's another who's equally adept if driven in come-from-behind fashion. MENDELICO (12) has won 6 of 13, the most recent of those victories here a month ago. She covered ground in the last lap when well back behind Deanna Troy in a hot mares race here three weeks ago before running a bold second on this circuit last weekend to Dazed And Confused when grabbed late in a near track record 1:56.8 for this trip. DONTWANTANO (6) disappointed when only battling for fifth here last time but his prior runs were well up to winning this and he must be conceded a chance. Best of the others is GOLD TARGET (9), an improving Glenn Douglas trained gelding who went within a nose of running down the handy Mister GNP here last week. Ratings: 10,11/12/6,9/1,13. He's won 9 of 18 and is unbeaten in two runs since resuming, they being when scoring at Bendigo from the breeze after coming from a 40 metre handicap , and when flashing home from three back the pegs to beat the CO pacers at Geelong last week. Former top youngster DANNY BOUCHEA (11) is back to his best. A solid first up second at Maryborough a fortnight ago was followed by an outstanding 1:59.9 mobile victory here last week when eased to the rear from his wide gate before sprinting around them to find the lead and winning clearly. He'll find a little more traffic this time from the ten metre mark in this standing start affair. TENDER DON (4) is overdue a win at this level. He worked around from his handicap mark when rating a fast 2:04.7 to win from the stand at Shepparton, then after an early mistake flashed home from last when favourite and a close fourth here at his latest start, four weeks ago. Best of the others is handy young gelding SI CAPISCO (6), who was runner up in the Breeders Crown 4YO to Skyvalley back in August, then cut down late when resuming and second in Nyah Trotters Cup before a battling mid-field finish in the Kilmore Trotters Cup last time. Ratings:2/11/4/6/9,12/allothers. Suggested bet: DON KING (2) to win. 3 BIG6 Jayco Pacers Handicap 7.42 2240m. $15000. A talented four year old, he looks the clear top pick here in this easier race. JOHNORAMA (3) is a standing start specialist who did it tough when scoring from behind the tapes at Ballarat last weekend and looks the main danger. LANDSCAPE (2), a standing start winner at his only try, finished stoutly for fourth here last week and is close to a victory. Next best are BY THE SWORD (5), who's overdue a win at this level and CAPTAIN BROMAC (12), a standing start winner here who went nicely when placed on this circuit last week. Best of those may be WAINGARO GRANDVIEW (1), who made two moves and battled on well when third at Ballarat last weekend and three starts back ran a brave third on this circuit to Get The Monet when coming from well back. He looks the first leader from this alley but may hand up to teammate FRANCO AMBASSADOR (4), a recent all the way Cranbourne winner who fought on well for third at Geelong last weekend after having a luckless trip. BARACHIAS (11), who's returned from a spell in fine fashion was a top first up fourth at Cranbourne, then led all the way and ran a fast 1:56.9 over this trip here last week and meets possibly an easier field, albeit from the second line. That's a Lance Justice trifecta , with horses that can upset the apple cart being ULTIMATE DEAL (8), who's won twice in all the way fashion here recently but draws the second line this time; and STAR OF TARA (9), who hasn't shown much in three runs since resuming but is due to improve against this beatable opposition. The query runner is KALYPSON KID (12), who won seven races last season but has found trouble in both runs since resuming. Ratings:1/11/4/8/9/12/2?7. After an ordinary period where she didn't score in ten starts, she was a big improver when winning here three weeks ago where she worked to the lead from the second line before a sparkling effort to be beaten a length by Karlsruhe in the Maryborough Cup last Monday, where she sprouted wings from the rear at the end of a 56.2 last half. Back to mares company, she'll be mighty hard to beat. MISS DEVILLE (9) is an outstanding performer who's won 11 of her last 13 starts. A Moonee Valley winner over MISS LAURA JANE (7) and VERY CHIC (12) back in March before going for a spell, she's won all three of her starts since resuming, at Ballarat and twice at Cranbourne. Drawn to sit just off the pace, she'll be motoring home at the finish. VERY CHIC (12) raced wide in the last lap when beating Trojan Luck here four starts back, then was an outstanding fourth to Bonavista Bay in the Melton Plate before finding trouble here three weeks ago. Shuffled to the rear in last Monday's Maryborough Cup, she was never a factor but was doing her best work at the finish. MOON SPIRIT (5) had her first taste of metro racing when an unlucky fourth to Dazed And Confused here last week when held up at a vital stage before flashing home late. She's an improving mare who rates highly. MONARCO MISS (3), MISS LAURA JANE (7) and MESMERIZING (10) are also in the mix. Ratings:13/9/12/5/7/3,10. Suggested bet: DEANNA TROY (13) to win. She's had no luck and yet to be placed in six runs this season but that should change here as she finally draws an alley from which she can use her blistering gate speed. TANABI BROMAC (9) has been at the top of his tree all the way through. The Victoria Derby winner a couple of seasons back, he won 6 of 12 last term and resumes off a couple of handy Shepparton trial efforts. CHRISTIAN MELODY (10) is one of Australia's best mares and will be flying home at the finish. She had no luck behind Deamnna Troy here last time IRISH SAILOR (8) should get her soft trip behind SOPHIE PASS (1) and is sure to be improved by four runs this time in. Expect to see him finishing well along the sprint lane. Each way chances to KEAYANG HANOVER (3), a talented pacer resuming; ditto for JACCKA CLIVE (7), who won three on end in strong company before a spell; and Nyah Cup winner NOTASWETHORT (11). MELPARK MAJOR (2) held off a late challenge from Smoken Up to win here two starts back, then took a sit behind DIAMONDS N FURS (5) when out-kicked on the line by Smoken Up in the Popular Alm Sprint at Kilmore last time. Recent racing should have him at his peak and as one of the best horses in the land and with the barrier draw in his favour, he'll be mighty hard to beat. KARLSRUHE (1) looks back to his best. An impressive Moonee Valley winner over Kilmore Cup winner Ohoka Nevada four starts back, he was luckless and went nicely in back-to-back runs on this circuit before trailing wide in the last lap to win last Monday's Maryborough Cup where he came from behind in a 26.9 last split. He may be sitting on right on MELPARK MAJOR's back and a 26.9 last quarter would see him close to causing an upset. DIAMONDS N FURS (5) was just in need of the run when he led and was a two metre second to Smoken Up in the Popular Alm at Kilmore, and he'll tighten up nicely for that outing, his first since May. An outstanding short course performer, he's sure to make his presence felt. TI VOGLIOBENE (6), CINCINNATI KID (7) and BOLD CRUISER (10) have been finishing just behind the good ones at FFA level over the past few months and have place chances at least here from their awkward draws. Since winning twice then scoring in the 4YO Breeders Crown here late last season, he's come from a back mark to win a stand on this circuit five weeks ago, then was wide in the last lap and battled on strongly to win well at the Valley last time. SUNDONS TIAVON (7) galloped early and gave them a huge start before working around them from the breeze when resuming from a long spell here last week, then broke under pressure at the 450. The mobile suits her so much better and as Australia's top mare, looks the main the danger if any to this favourite. Australian record holder EARL OF MOT (1) was back to winning form in fine style at Ballarat last week and has place claims at least from the pole with the only other prospect in the race being IN PURSUIT (3) -- he stretched SKYVALLEY's (8) neck when second to him here under similar conditions at Moonee Valley three starts back and has since run seconds at Harold Park and on this circuit.
