He comes off a hat trick of placings they being at Cranbourne, and to Dark Duncan in a heat and final affair at Yarra Valley when beaten a length in both by the in-form Wizard Of Speed. He did it tough in the breeze last time and should he go forward here over the sprint journey is well capable of overcoming a death seat trip. BRAESIDE FALCON (13) has won three of his latest five starts, the most recent of those when rocketing home from the rear to score at Cranbourne in early September. Two recent trial victories indicate his readiness for this but he faces a tough task from the draw. DANGER IN DISGUISE (10), a solid Horsham winner in late September, resumed with a death seat third at Stawell last Sunday and will be improved by the run. Each way chances to THE BINDER (3), TEMPLARS SEAL (5), KAMWOOD KENNY (7), TALES OF COURAGE (8), ADVANCE DUNDEE (9) and GREYGREY (12). Ratings:6/10,13/5,8/3,7,9,12. WARTIME SWEETHEART (5) had moderate form on the Gold Coast before recently joining the David Aiken stable for whom she's been unbeaten in two tries. She worked to find the lead mid-race, then finished off in 27.8 for a first up Shepparton sprint victory a month ago, then flew the gate from the widest draw when an effortless all the way Cobram winner last time. BRUSHBGROVEMACHBEST (8) is a hard hitting former NSW filly who was a dual winner last season. She finished off in a blaze of glory with a luckless fifth in a Breeders Crown heat here in August, then was outstanding when working to the breeze and a gallant second to Make Mine Cullen in the Final. She's the class factor but draws awkwardly and is first up for three months. VILLAGEBURNER (1) has strong place claims with a rough chance of winning. She's been placed in all six starts this preparation and draws to break her maiden status at start number 26. All recent runs have been from awkward barriers and she looked good at her latest start when right off the track in the final lap and narrowly beaten last week at Geelong. AFALCONS DASH (4), TORADO FELLA (6) and to a lesser extent FLIGHT TO MIKINOS (13), look the other winning chances. The first starter is CRACKER SHOT (11) (Camcracker -- Lisdon Beauty), a Ron Francis trained 4YO gelding who was a recent Geelong trial winner and is from a mare who won eleven races and has produced two prior winners. Ratings:5/8/1/4,6/13. Suggested bet: WARTIME SWEETHEART (5) to win. 3 BIG6 Pacers Handicap 7.40 2240m. $5000. He finished off with a third to that fellow in one of these races here in August then a Ballarat failure, and resumes from the stand against beatable opposition -- he was placed at his only try from behind the tapes. WESTERN CONNECTION (2) loves these standing start affairs -- she was able to dictate terms and finish off in 27.6 when an effortless Yarra Valley winner eleven days ago and is drawn for a repeat. HEATHVALE LAD (5) is another standing start specialist who's been placed twice at this level from his latest three starts. He used the sprint lane and was in front close to home when cut down late by Johnorama here a fortnight ago. GENGHIS YANKEE (8) hasn't won since March 2006 but followed an excellent Ballarat third to Johnorama with a fast finishing second from his 30 metre back mark to Heathcliff at Geelong last time. PEPPEREL BEIJING (4) is another standing start expert with strong claims. Ratings:3/2,5/4,8. Suggested bet: MACH TWAIN (3) to win. 4 SEW-Eurodrive Pace 8.10 2240m. $5000. SHORTYS STAR (3) put up a big effort when wide without cover in the last lap and cut down on the line by King Of Paradise in a Bendigo stand last Monday and draws to be in the finish. CAPTAIN BROMAC (7) has been forced to do it tough in the breeze when down the track here at his latest two outings and may be driven more conservatively this time. He needs a bit of luck from the wide draw. WESTERN OUTLAW (9) won his first race for some time when out-finishing a claiming field at Geelong eight days ago, and from this draw he'll be sitting just off the pace. Each way chances to GENTLE FORCE (4), who was making late ground after a wide last lap when unplaced here last week; and former handy youngster ASAFA (6), who'll be improved by three runs back from a spell. DON KING (11) continued on his winning way when a tough winner over the pacers at Bendigo last Monday making it four victories from as many starts this time in. At his prior run, he came out of the one-one to win at this level here a fortnight ago and looks well up to this, his toughest test to date. DANNY BOUCHEA (10) is getting back to the form he displayed when an outstanding youngster. Second up for a long time, he blitzed a handy field from the mobile here three weeks ago, then worked hard in the breeze when beaten a length by DON KING (11) here a fortnight ago back and meets him on ten metres better terms. RETAINED (1) won the Redwood as a two year old and this now four year old is quickly recapturing this form of a couple of years back. He made it three from six this time in when sitting in the breeze at Maryborough early this month and as the likely leader here, will be mighty hard to run down. WESTWOOD CASTLETON (8) is an inconsistent customer who's won three of his last five. He scored from the mobile here three runs back, then made good ground from his 40 metre back mark when sixth to RETAINED (1) at Shepparton before leading all the way when not pushed out in a convincing last starts back Kilmore mobile victory. The class factor is SAVE A SIXPENCE (14) but he faces a task from this handicap at his first start or six weeks. His latest two runs were a back mark third to Skyvalley here early last month, then a mid-field FFA finish behind that talented trotter. Good each way chances to GENTLEMANS HONOUR (2), SI CAPISCO (4), EARL OF MOT (9) and IN PURSUIT (13) in what looks the most competitive race on the card. Ratings:11/1,10/8,14/2,4,13/9/ 3. In the other heat DANISH KING (10) worked to the breeze at the bell to outstay MANWARRA KEENTORUN (9), who'd also done plenty before finding the lead, and from their relative draws, should be running home strongly in the closing stages. LITTLE MISS FIRE (13) flew the gate, then took a sit mid-race when third in that heat last week but goes to an outside draw this time. Each way claims to MANWARRA JUSTNACE (2), MIGHTY SUPER POWER (8) and BULLY MURPHY (12). Ratings:4,7/9,10/13/2,12. JACCKA CLIVE (3) won 8 of 19 last season finishing off with three on end, the latest two of those being heat and Final of the Winter Championship at the Valley and here in July. Not suited by the wide alley first up in a hot race here a fortnight ago, he was doing his best work at the end of a 56.3 last half, will be much improved by that run, and on his good standing start record of four wins from seven tries, must be rated the clear top pick. CHARLEYS DREAM (6) was a mobile Valley winner four starts back and comes off a back mark standing start second beaten a metre by Veranjee here and a tough second in the Maryborough Cup Consolation early this month when working hard to the breeze mid-race and fighting on strongly. That was from the second line and he'll appreciate this front row draw. FOR GRANTED (2) was placed from the stand in the Nyah Cup four starts back and has been luckless or outclassed in subsequent outings. He draws well and Brian Gath should have him in the leading group throughout. The Lance Justice trained pair of MR CLANCY (8) and BARACHIAS (9) have claims - MR CLANCY (8) rocketing home from near last for third in a mobile sprint affair here last week while BARACHIAS (9), who won here three starts back, was close up behind Mister Grizzly last week. The other major winning chance is THATS MISTER ALI (12), who beat FOR GRANTED (2) here four starts back and comes off a narrow back mark defeat by Sterlish in a strong Kilmore stand, and a close last start fourth to Karlsruhe in the Maryborough Cup. Also in the mix are handy mare VERY CHIC (4) (luckless in the Stawell Cup last week); HARRY WALTON (10), BERNSTEIN (11) and WIDEFORD HILL (13), who was wide without cover when a gallant and close sixth first up in the Maryborough Cup three weeks ago. She has gate speed and will enjoy her return to the moving start. TWOTTER PECK (9) was a big improver to win three on end before a luckless unplaced effort at Geelong last weekend when held up in the home straight. Prior to that, he'd come from the rear to impressively beat the handy Chipmont Lad on that circuit. That pair look clearly the best two chances in the race. LEFT ONE EYE OUT (6) is a tough mare who won races at Kilmore and here in September, was just behind the placegetters from long back marks on this circuit after that, then led when cut down late by Retained at Maryborough three weeks ago. She has an excellent each way chance. Each way claims to JEWELL HARBOUR (1), SNAPPY POP (2), OUR SOLAR FLARE (5) and JOULE COUNT (8), who won well here last week. Ratings: 3/9/6/8/1,5. He won four of six as a juvenile with a second and fifth in the Vicbred Super Series also up there with his best performances. His latest two runs before going for a break were a solid Bendigo success and an all the way victory here back in July. MISTER REGINALD (7) is a Geoff Webster trained youngster who debuted impressively when coming from miles back to score a 1:57.3 Bendigo sprint success late last month. Although drawn awkwardly, he'll certainly trouble this favourite. Debutante MINDSEYE (3) (Falcon Seelster -- Mindpower) is an Adam Kelly trained filly whose dam won $137K and has produced three winners from four previous foals. She hasn't been shown up at the trials but bears watching here from the good alley. COLOURS OF LOMBO (6) is an honest type and a must for trifecta takers. The other first starter is PRINCE ASSASSIN (2) (Safe And Sound -- Czarina Katerina), a Donna Tolley trained 3YO gelding who ran second in a Bacchus Marsh trial last weekend. Ratings: 5?/7/3?/6/2?
