He sat in the breeze to win at Maryborough two starts back, then again did it hard outside the leader in last week s St Arnaud Trotters Cup here when a fighting fourth to In Pursuit and Don King. This looks an easier race. GROOVY BROMAC (1) is a lightly raced Chris Lang trained gelding who s won four of nine. He was resuming from a spell with a close death seat second to HEZA HERO (2) at Shepparton last week, will be fitter and meets the winner on 20 metres better terms. SUNSET TRUSCOTT (7) looks well graded on his metro class efforts here this season and with only one line ahead him, should settle close to the lead. Good chances also to last start Ballarat winner SHADON (6) along with HEZA HERO (2), TAMSYN ELLE (8), BETE NOIRE (10), WESTWOOD CASTLETON (11), and MONTROSE KID (15). Ratings:4/1/7/6,11/2,8,10,15/3. The Holmfield winner of last season, he had a slow start to his current preparation but was far too good after finding the breeze mid-race in his heat and is improving as he gets fitter. DROP US ALINE (12) won the other heat and made it two wins on end here when sprinting sharply from the one-one to account for death seating RAYLEIGH DANCER (15), who fought on doggedly. DEFEND ME NOT (14) made late ground for third in that heat and is an improving Chris Lang trained gelding with each way claims. Best of the others are ITS LIGHTSCAMERACTION (8), who got lost at a vital stage when fourth last week; and HEART OF A MAORI (9), who worked to the lead when a solid second to CHIPMONT LAD (5). Ratings:5/12/15/14/8,9/6. Suggested bet: CHIPMONT LAD (5) to win. 3 BIG6 Wedderburn Vicbred 7.42 2240m. $6000. He was badly held up when fifth here last week but should be able to make his own luck this time in this much easier race, albeit from a back mark. BOY FROM IPANEMA (1) is a handy four year old who has a good record from the stand. He was resuming when sitting behind talented squaregaiter Don King and running a neck second to that fellow at Bendigo eleven days ago and will be much improved for that run. PEPPERELL BEIJING (9) rarely runs a bad race. He was narrowly beaten into third place by HEATHVALE LAD (10) at Geelong early last month and has been placed twice here from four runs since, the most recent a close second here last week when cut down late by Western Connection after attempting an all the way win. DANGER IN DISGUISE (5) won a Horsham mobile in September then resumed with a death seat Stawell third before making late ground for fifth in a mobile sprint affair here last week. He s on the improve. Each way chances to MUDJIMBA BELLE (2), who battled on well when second here last week after a tough trip; OUR ARCHANGEL (6), who was runner up to Western Connection from the stand at Yarra Valley recently; and HES ALBERT (11), a handy performer who resumes off a solid trial standing start placing here behind Maffioso last Monday night. Ratings:10/1/9/5/2,8/11? Suggested bet: Trifecta 1, 9, 10 to win and run second with 1, 2, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10 and 11 for third. $36.00 for $1.00. 4 Loddon Shire Pace Final 8.12 2240m. $5000. SANDLER (5) is a highly talented four year old who made it 12 wins from 27 starts when finding the lead in his heat and sprinting home quickly. He ll be fitter for that, his first run since August, and draws inside his main rival, that horse being SLIP MAHONE (6), who began quickly from a wide gate and was never troubled to win the other heat. This fellow has now won two of his four starts this season and it will be an interesting battle between the two favourites to see who can find the lead. DALMONT CHARLI (8) was a tough second from the breeze to SLIP MAHONE (6) last week and from this trailing draw could take advantage of any speed battle between the favourites. The only other winning proposition is BIG BOY RAMA (10), who won at Yarra Valley on Melbourne Cup day, then battled on solidly from mid-field when third here in his heat. Ratings:5/6/8/10. She s won 8 of 20, her most victory being a first up all the way success over LUCKNOW MONICA (1) here a fortnight ago and she ran a brave second to Mendelico at the Valley last weekend when working hard to the breeze mid-race and just failing to pick up the winner, who d been gifted the lead by SEWINYAFACE (4). STERITA (2) is a talented young mare who mixed it with the best in her two and three year old campaigns. She s won four races this season and had no luck at the Valley last week when, after being buried, she flashed home late for a close third to Hung Jury. She has the gate speed to lead but I feel she s much better with a sit. LUCKNOW MONICA (1) followed her second to KISSMECATIE (5) here with a luckless unplaced effort at the Valley last week but from this alley should be just off the pace and will be charging along the sprint lane. BELOKA DIAMOND (6) ran a brave second here to Albert Jaccka a fortnight ago before a tough trip when unplaced at the Valley last week and she has each way claims along with GLEES HONOR (7), a solid first up second at Cranbourne last week, and the talented BLYTON BROMAC (10) , who resumes from an awkward alley. FLOODING CREEK (3) is a Peter Tonkin trained gelding who broke his maiden status at start number ten when leading all the way in his heat and he draws to repeat. GRANTIME DOR (6) made it four seconds on end since a win here early last month when coming from well back for second last week to FLOODING CREEK (3), and he looks the main danger. LUKE PETER (9) had the run of the race to win the other heat, holding off a fast finishing LUCE SOUND (8) and those placings may be reversed this time. The best run from that heat came from ADDA SURPRISE (10), who was three wide for the entire trip and beaten a length into third place. DESICCATOR (7) looks next best. Ratings:3/6/8,10/9/7. He s been chasing home the likes of Melpark Major and Smoken Up in recent times and didn t help his chances in the Kilmore and Maryborough Cups with bad standing start beginnings. He wasn t disgraced when sixth to Melpark Major in a 1:53.7 Legends here three weeks ago and draws to be in front this time. MAKE WAVES (7) won six races last season, the most recent of those at the Valley back in May. He was first up since that effort when eased back from an awkward draw and making late ground for a luckless fourth to Kalypson Kid at Ballarat ten days ago, and will clean up nicely for that run. FEW GOOD MEN (9) ran third to Sterlish in a Kilmore stand then was a gallant death seat second to Karlsruhe in the Maryborough Cup before blowing his chance at the start in the Stawell Cup a fortnight ago. Back to the mobile and from this good trailing draw, he ll settle close enough to use his staying prowess. JAZZAM (12) was an outstanding winner of seven races last season and there was a lot to like about her first up Ballarat second to Kalypson Kid when she came out of the one-one to be beaten two metres at the end of a 56.5 last half. Watch for her flashing finish. STING LIKA BEE (13) is on the comeback trail and is sure to be improved by three runs after nearly two years off. He was sneaking home nicely along the pegs when mid-field at the Valley last week behind Cincinnati Kid and is ready to be driven in aggressive fashion -- he ll need to be from this alley. Each way chances to MASTER OF DISGUISE (10), who made late ground for sixth behind Cincinnati Kid last week when resuming, and IN MONACO (11), who pulled too hard in the lead when weakening to finish at the rear in that same race. The query runner is QUICK ARMBRO (5), who hasn t raced nor won for a long time but has loads of talent and been trialling well. Ratings: 3/7/9,12/13/10,11/5? HOOSHOTTHESHERRIFF (1) is drawn to repeat and has claims along with third and fourth placegetters from that race THE TWO OF US (3) and SCARLET JASPER (4).
