Herald Sun Form Guide : December 12th 2009
heraldsun.com.au Herald Sun, Saturday, December 12, 2009 57 + + FB123 C M Y K DHS 12-DEC-2009 PAGE 57 FIRST www.tab.com.au Flemington TODAY HERALD SUN SUPERFORM LIFTOUT PROS TALKING HOT JOCKS Chasing hat-trick : Sound Journey is in sparkling form and drops 2kg on his last-start win at Sandown. MIDNIGHT OIL with TIM HABEL TRACK: Dead 5 PENETROMETER: 4.87 RAIL: True LAST MEETING: Out 8m Nov. 7 LAST TIME TRUE: October 31 RAINFALL: 21mm for week IRRIGATION: 12mm for week RADAR: Showers 1 WITH FLOKKATI (1) likely to run at Moonee Valley tomorrow this is a winning option for the four to have raced with the obvious watch on first starters FIERCE RIVAL (6) and RED BELLY BLACK (7). The city form is around JESSE'S GIRL (5) who had no luck on debut at Moonee Valley and DUTCHY'S LASS (4) who ran on well to finish second under the lights on debut. ON PACERS: No exposed form SWOOPERS: No exposed form SUGGESTED BET: Nil 2 SMALL field but three winning chances in the absence of TONZATICKA (2). GANGLAND (1) ran on well to win at Sandown in mid-week grade and looks promising. RAIN SHADOW (3) ran odds on and won accordingly at Moonee Valley after a Seymour maiden win. FLASH MADICA (6) should have won a maiden easily at Moonee Valley last start after being trapped wide on pace. ON PACERS: Cabeza, Flash Madica SWOOPERS: Gangland, Rain Shadow, Arctic King SUGGESTED BET: Box quinellas/ trifecta 1, 3, 6. 3 GIBRALTAR MOON (1) is down in class and freshened for the drop back to her pet 1000m trip. With the aid of the 3kg claim she looks well placed against restricted class rivals. The only danger looks to be HEAD OVER HEELS (2), who is improving and was just beaten by promising Screen at the Valley last time working to the line strongly. She drops back to 1000m here. PRINCESS DIABLO (6) worked hard wide to lead and then fought on well in the same race. SINCENGARNI (5) won on debut on heavy ground beating Screen and resumes again. ON PACERS: Gibraltar Moon, Rapt To Gogo, Princess Diablo SWOOPERS: Head Over Heels, London Ink, Sincengarni SUGGESTED BET: Gibraltar Moon straight out; quinellas, exactas with 2. 4 NO reason to think SOUND JOURNEY (1) will not complete a hat-trick. He has bounced back to his three year-old Group form with two ultra impressive wins here and at Sandown. Drops 2kg on his last start win after the claim. He failed at this trip here last October but is racing much better now. BARWON EXPRESS (3) chased him home at Sandown and may do so again. Plenty of depth for the placings. POISED TO WIN (5) didn't get a lot of room in the straight in the Eclipse. He won here over 1800m before that. ITS PRINCE (7) and SWOOPER (9) are on-pacers up in grade from Moonee Valley wins. ON PACERS: Swooper SWOOPERS: Sound Journey, Barwon Express, Poised To Win, Its Prince, Sea Skye SUGGESTED BET: Sound Journey straight out, quinellas with 3, 5, 9. 5 ADELAIDE visitor RIGHT FONG (4) was impressive winning here on Cup day then failed under 58kg back home at Morphettville. From the good draw he looks well placed. DE MARS (10) can improve sharply here. He's a Woodend Cup winner at the trip and had a torrid run at the Valley last time, weakening understandably after looming up wide on the turn. LAST DROP (9) is racing in career best form but is up in grade and drawn wide. Class runners are STORMHILL (1) and PLAYWRIGHT (2) but there are queries on both. Stormhill hasn't raced for 35 days and has 59k but has a top record at this trip. Playwright hasn't won since February 2008 and goes to 2000m for the first time but did hit the line well in the stronger Eclipse Stakes last time. ON PACERS: Stormhill, Mission Critical SWOOPERS: Playwright, Right Fong, Causeway Queen, Last Drop, De Mars, Buffett SUGGESTED BET: Right Fong each- way, box quinellas 1, 2, 4, 9, 10. 6 IAMZEUS (14) was baulked for a run at a crucial stage when resuming behind SHEEDY (11) at Sandown. He has a habit of ducking in and a near-side blinker goes on. Sheedy likes to lead but has another noted front-runner PRODUCED (15) to contend with. But Sheedy is honest and this week's rain will take the jar out of the track which suits him. DANZYLUM (6) seems to strike form at this time of the year and should get a good trail on the pace. Chances are consistent ITSAMONTY (1) despite a wide draw , OKAY OKY (4) and first emergency BERRINGAMA (17) now he has got a start is suited back to 1400m. ON PACERS: Sheedy, Produced SWOOPERS: Itsamonty, Danzylum, Okay Oky, Iamzeus, Berringama SUGGESTED BET: Iamzeus each- way7 TOUGH race. Veterans JUGGLE THE BOOKS (4) and BOWHUNTER (6) both like the straight and will be good value. Bowhunter was luckless when resuming at Sandown , has placed in four of his past six straight runs and blinkers go back on. LET LOUSHE (2) has the right formline through his second to speedy Burdekin Blues but he's a swooper not suited by the rails draw. Query runner is topweight MIND YOUR HEAD (1). He was impressive in a recent Benalla trial win. He is classes above these at his best, proven fresh and with big weights. BELTROIS (9) is an improver who will be running on, Sydney visitor HOTEL CASINO (3) and NOT A COPY (5) are other chances. ON PACERS: Juggle The Books, Not A Copy SWOOPERS: Mind Your Head, Let Loushe, Hotel Casino, Bowhunter, Beltrois, Minnesota Shark SUGGESTED BET: Juggle The Books and Bowhunter each-way. 8 VITEX (7) has found her right race. At her only run at the trip here she raced outside the leader and dashed clear to beat all but the promising Rose Syrah. Didn't get a lot of room in the closing stages when third over 1400m last week at Caulfield and should get a soft lead here. SHYLOCK'S DAUGHTER (6) will be running on and BULLION MANSION (9) won well at Sandown at her second run from a long break. CABAZON (1) is ready to improve back to mares grade. ON PACERS: Vitex SWOOPERS: Cabazon, Be Mine, Shylock's Daughter, Bullion Mansion, Hussyanna, Epic Journey SUGGESTED BET: Vitex straight out. THE MAIL GUEST TIPSTER Tim Habel STRAIGHT OUT FLEMINGTON (R4 No. 1): Sound Journey, stick with him to complete a winning hat-trick. Never gone better, down in weight but won his last start and this is no harder. Matt Stewart BIG6 FLEMINGTON (Races 3-8): I think this is a chance to make some money. Leg1:1,2,5;Leg2:1;Leg3:2, 5,1;Leg4:6,11,14;Leg5:9; Leg 6: 7, 10, 11. $100 flexi for 123.46 per cent Adam Hamilton WIN TE RAPA ( R7 No.7): Paschendaele is an absolute superstar having won four from eight career starts and looks a good thing to take out one of New Zealand's best races the Waikato Times Gold Cup. Nick Quinn FIXED ODDS DOUBLE ROSEHILL (R2 No.1): Latin News into Flemington (R4 No.1): Sound Journey. Latin News is unbeaten and was a gutsy last-start winner. While the penny has dropped with Sound Journey. Fixed odds is a shade under $7. The BIG6 will operate on the following meetings. Flemington gallops: Leg 1: Race 3: 2.10. Leg 2: Race 4: 2.50. Leg 3: Race 5: 3.30. Leg 4: Race 6: 4.10. Leg 5: Race 7: 4.50. Leg 6: Race 8: 5.30. The Meadows greyhounds: Leg 1: Race 4: 8.15. Leg 2: Race 5: 8.35. Leg 3: Race 6: 8.57. Leg 4: Race 7: 9.15. Leg 5: Race 8: 9.35. Leg 6: Race 9: 9.57. Kathryn Cook CEO Western Health Race 3 Flemington No. 1 Gibraltar Moon Race 7 Flemington No. 2 Let Loushe Michael Sullivan BOOKMAKER CAUSEWAY QUEEN (Flem R5 No.5): Fourth up from a spell today and steps up to a more suitable distance of 2000m. Always shown ability and gets her chance today at nice each way odds. Danny O'Brien TRAINER GANGLAND (Flem R2 No. 1): Won well last start when ridden a bit quieter. He's trained on well . CABEZA (Flem R2 No. 4): We've put the blinkers on, so he'll probably go forward, He won his first start leading, we're hoping for a big improvement SINCENGARNI (Flem R3 No. 5): Nice filly. This is her first run back. She beat Screen at her first start on a very heavy track. She's got ability. BALLACK (Flem R4 No. 2): Had one run since the winter when he didn't please me so we put him out again. He'll kick off here and possibly go to Hobart later. BUFFETT (Flem R5 No. 12): Just a grinder, he has trouble trying to accelerate, he's very one-paced. But in saying that this is not beyond him on a big track. IMAZEUS (Flem R6 No. 14): Hopefully there will be a bit of speed on. He was probably a good thing beaten first-up. We think he's above average, so on the minimum he's entitled to be favourite. He's always had a tendency to lay in so we've gone for a gear change (near side blinker) to straighten him. John Ledger TRAINER MIND YOUR HEAD (Flem R 7 No. 1): He looked to be his old self the way he trialled at Benalla. He's a touch underdone but he's raced well like that before. If he runs last again we'll have to think about his future. DAY OUT (Flem R7 No. 7): He's getting ready for a 0-82 at Caulfield on Boxing Day. There are no open class races in the country for him so he has to come here. APPRENTICE Jason Maskiell with seven rides is hot favourite to win today's TAB Sportsbet Jockey's Challenge. Best of his rides looks to be Gibraltar Moon in race three. THE MARKET $2.10 J Maskiell $4.40 M Zahra $5.00 M Rodd $11.00 Any other indiv. jockey $12.00 D Dunn $14.00 B Melham $21.00 N Rose THE BANKERS ON CLASS SOUND JOURNEY (Race 4 No 1) ON VIDEO IMAZEUS (Race 6 No 14) ON PRECEDENT VITEX (Race 8 No 7) $50 FLEXI QUADDIE for 8.3% 1, 2, 4, 9, 10/1, 4, 6, 11, 15, 17/1, 2,4,6,9/1,6,7,9.
