He hadn t done much in ten starts before his current preparation, resumed with a low grade Tabcorp Park victory in November, then a third in the final of that affair from an awkward draw before a luckless Kilmore fifth when held up. In his heat at Warragul, he worked hard to find the breeze mid-race and was quite strong in the closing stages. RUSTLER BOY (11) had his consistency rewarded when he followed four placings on end with a solid victory in the other heat where he worked to find the top, then slowed them down and sprinted a fast last quarter. The awkward second line draw may test him but he still looks one of the three main winning hopes. The third of those prospects is THE DELIRAMA (12), who sat behind and chased home RUSTLER BOY (11) at Warragul to be beaten two metres before a giant run for a half head second to Bus To Harlem in a strong Yarra Valley affair last Monday. LITE REPLY (4) has ability and gets Alford this time. He has claims along with MEET THE PRESIDENT (1), who comes off thirds at Mt Gambier and here from an awkward barrier to LUKE PETER (8); BAYCADES (2), who sat in the one-one when third to RUSTLER BOY (11) in his heat; and ITZA FINELINE (3), who disappointed when fourth in that same division -- his prior run when second here was the one to go on. Ratings:8/11,12/1,4/2/3. MODERN WARRIOR (3) was one of our better juveniles last season, winning five times, and at his first run since finishing sixth in the Breeders Crown Final, impressed by coming from well back for a solid third to Enthralled in the Vic. Sires Classic at Melton three weeks ago. He wasn t quite as good there last time when he led and set a slow pace and was outgunned by quality performers Master Joy and Kamwood Jack but should be straight in front here. Former NSW colt ITS MY PLEASURE (7) was runner up in the NSW Sapling Stakes last season, raced well at Breeders Crown level and resumed nicely at Geelong on Christmas Eve with a soft success against moderate opposition. He draws wide but has enough gate speed to put himself into the early fight. Ex-Tasmanian SCARLETT BLAZE (6) has shown good ability in two runs for John Justice. He came from well back when second at Ballarat recently at his first run since May, then was wide in the last lap and hit the line well for a close fifth in a Cobram sprint affair last Sunday. MANGO MAGIC (5) was a Yarra Valley winner and Tabcorp Park placegetter from nine starts last season and would have each way claims if anywhere near right -- he hasn t raced since August. MY POOH BEAR (9) won two of three in slow time in Tasmania last season and resumes off some handy trial efforts. The first starter is GREY ROCKET (8) (Jet Laag -- Kellikhan), a Hugh Cathels trained gelding who recently won a trial here in slow time. Ratings:3/7/5?6/9? Wide to the breeze mid-race he ran a close third at Tabcorp Park a fortnight ago, then found early trouble and did well to finish third to Just Wal there on Christmas Eve. He draws to win. STUNIN CULLEN (5) is an outstanding Kiwi visitor who was at the top of his tree as a juvenile and three year old, winning nine of 17 and amassing $835K in stakes mainly due to his Great Northern Derby victory, 3YO Sires Stakes success, and victory in a $200,000 race as a juvenile. He didn t fire in two runs at home or in two runs in a recent visit to Perth, but impressed in a fast recent standing start Kilmore trial victory. CHARLEYS DREAM (6) is a dour staying type who s always a chance at this level and he and FRANCO AMBASSADOR (7), who s been luckless in two recent Tabcorp Park efforts, look next best. The other trio have place claims at least. Ratings:2/5?/6/7/3,4/1. Suggested bet: PRINCE BENJI (2) to win. 4 Kids Night Out Pace 7.55 2080m. $6000. He s won four of seven since coming to Australia and then only time he missed a place was when caught wide here two starts back. He atoned for that defeat with a tough wide- to-the-breeze Geelong success three weeks ago at his latest start and again looks the one to beat. SHOVANISTIC (2) has been a big improver in two runs this time in. He flashed home to be narrowly beaten by YOU TWO BONO (7) here first up a month ago, then settled near the rear from his second line draw when wide and uncovered in the last lap and a tough winner on this circuit at his latest run, three weeks ago. BUDDING CHRISTIAN (3) led all the way from a wide alley to win at Warragul back in August and has been luckless in three runs this time in. He followed a first up third here with a solid fourth at Yarra Valley, then came from near last and was off the track in a 56.6 last half when a close third at Shepparton a fortnight ago. He s ready to win. POCKET LEGEND (5) is a consistent gelding who didn t have much go his way when down the track at Yarra Valley last time but his prior form was good and he should benefit from a short break. STATUS SEEKER (1) and CALATRAVA (4) are also in the mix - in fact all of them have some winning chance. Ratings:6/2,3/5/1?7/4/8. YUL BRUNNER (7) is an ex-Kiwi who s created a big impression since coming here winning four of seven, three of those on this circuit. He followed two below par efforts with a fast finishing success here a fortnight ago, then three days later, worked hard in the breeze and was strong at the finish in his impressive heat victory. BRAESIDE FALCON (6) won here in September, then wasn t seen again before finishing down the track first up on this circuit five weeks ago, finished strongly to win nicely here after that before a battling third in his heat to all the way winner LAND OF PANAARM (1) where he wasn t suited by having to come from behind in a 57.5 last half. On this bigger circuit, he can turn the tables on LAND OF PANAARM (1), that fellow being the other main winning chance. BOY FROM IPANEMA (10) was a Tabcorp Park standing start winner three starts back, then fourth at Kilmore before making late ground for second to YUL BRUNNER (7) at Warragul and although drawn awkwardly can beat these if luck goes his way. HARBHAJAN (3), and SAHARA MISS (5) are trifecta chances with rough winning claims Ratings:7/1,6/10/3,5. He was luckless in the Breeders Crown Final at Tabcorp Park in August, then was spelled and resumed for a close fourth from three back the pegs there to Glenferrie Alexis a fortnight ago before being forced to race outside the leader when a gallant fourth to Sterita at Tabcorp Park on Christmas Eve. He s dropping in grade here and from the pole, looks the winner. CLASSICAL MUSICIAN (5) hasn t missed a place in five runs this season with his sole win this term coming up in all the way fashion at Geelong three starts back. He then began badly here and made late ground when third to Braeside Falcon on this circuit a month ago before coming from well back then held up in the home straight and flashing late for a close third to Knight Crusader at Ballarat last weekend. He looks nicely suited against these. LANDSCAPEARTIST (2) is a handy three year old filly who didn t do much last season but made it four from seven this term when slowing them up in the lead and sprinting home in 27.6 to beat a fast finishing STRANGEASITSOUNDS (6) at Geelong on Christmas Eve. Three starts back, she got her own way in front when winning a strong Moonee Valley 3YO affair. TORADO FELLA (3) was a tough Shepparton winner three weeks ago, then not far away behind Glenferrie Alexis at Tabcorp Park before finding trouble behind Sterita there last week. He s an improving type who could be a good value bet. Place claims at least to ROCK ON TIGER (4), a recent Maryborough winner who flashed home for fourth in a Geelong stand last time; STRANGEASITSOUNDS (6), who s been runner up to good horses at her latest two; and BECKY CEE (8), who made it four placings on end when closing nicely for third at Geelong last week. An ex-Kiwi who races from the in-form Tony Peacock barn, he s won three of his five Australian starts and comes off an all the way victory here and his easy heat victory of this affair at Kilmore where he settled at the rear, was wide from the 1250, and far too good for his rivals. The only other from that heat to rate a winning chance is another ex-Enzedder, EXPLOSIVE TURK (12), who joined the Lance Justice stable for his first Aussie start there when wide to the breeze and battling on quite nicely. PRINCE OF ALBERT (2) was a longshot winner of the Yarra Valley heat last Monday where he got between runners in the home straight to out-sprint them, but the runs of JACCKA FELIX (4) and ULTIMATE UNDER FIRE (5) in that heat were probably better than that of the winner. ULTIMATE UNDER FIRE (5), who raced well at top three year old level last season, was a tough first up fifth to Glenferrie Alexis in a Tabcorp Park 4YO a fortnight ago, then raced wide at Yarra Valley before making mistakes in the home straight and winding up a length off in third place. Splitting he and the winner was JACCKA FELIX (4), who sat outside the leader throughout and fought on solidly. This fellow has won four races this season and continues to impress. The only other possible winning hope is SMART AND MIGHTY (11), who made ground for fourth at Yarra Valley, but draws awkwardly again. Ratings: 10/5/4/2,12/11/1.
