He parked out and ran a creditable second to Farmersntradies just over a month ago. As is the custom with the Lombo runners Jayne Davies takes over and this filly won a Cranbourne trial nine days ago in good style. She is the one to beat. CULLEN BROMAC (4) (Christian Cullen -- Classic Blue Jeans) was second in that same trial mentioned above and this colt looks to have his share of ability. BETTOR WARRIOR (9) (Bettors Delight -- Cosmopolitan) was soundly beaten in a Kilmore trial 13 days ago but with the nice trailing draw this colt can make an impression on debut. LIVING IT ON (7) (Grinfromeartoear -- French Flair) won a Bacchus Marsh trial nine days back in moderate time. He will need some luck from the wide alley but he is in a leading stable. CARRIBEAN BLASTER (1) (Bettors Delight -- Kalypso) is with leading conditioner Andy Gath and although he was well held in a trial here two weeks ago he has the ace alley up his sleeve. He will have to produce another gem today but he is up to the challenge. SHANIA COURT (3) has been thereabouts of late and is bursting to win one. She should get the lead and be hard to run down. ALDEBARAN ILLUSION (5) (Muscles Yankee -- Sheeza Dream) is with the powerful Lang team and this guy was third in a recent Shepparton trial under stand start conditions. He is sure to be well fancied. He charged home to beat Dark Duncan (winner since) at Yarra Valley last start in 1:55.2 for the sprint trip. He is yet to be placed from the stand in five attempts, which is the only query with him. PARWAN ROCKET (1) will find this easier then his seventh at Tabcorp Park last time and he is a reliable beginner. MISTAMUCKALEE (7) beat the smart Enthral at Yarra Valley last start after having a cheap run. He'll get back but can be dangerous with a late run at them. ANOTHER HOLMES (2), MYRNIONG PANORAMA (3), YOU LAZY BOY (5) and PONCHARTRAIN (6) are all capable of winning with the right run. He looks a nice horse in the making and should handle these. LUKE PETER (2) can do a few things wrong but he has ability. He tried to throw it away but recovered to score in his heat running away. He did however go four seconds slower than TRANSFORMATION (9). OUR FALCONS A TACT (7) is a fast beginner who led up and battled on strongly to TRANSFORMATION (9) in her heat. She draws wide but Lance will light her up at the start and make a play for the lead. JAZ EQUITY (5) is the next best. He is a quick beginner, the likely leader and very hard to beat. DANGER IN DISGUISE (3) has struck form his past two. He won courtesy of a Dasher special at Ballarat two runs ago then he was noted making late ground in a 27.7 quarter for third to Strangeasitsounds at Bray Raceway nine days ago. He too can rifle off the arm and he may get to the pegs first. WILLOUGHBY (5) has been going nicely in stand starts of late but will find this tougher drawing wide with plenty of speed inside him. He does however have some a good turn of speed and if they go crazy he can make them pay. ROCK ON TIGER (1), REBECCA DON (9) and TEXT ME NEXT (7) are must includes for your exotics. He won a Heat of the Australasian Breeders Crown at Bendigo, ran fourth in a Repechage to Maywyns Storm then he drew poorly in his Semi Final and finished towards the rear behind Smiling Shard. He trialled ok at Bacchus Marsh nine days back and he should go well from the pole today. ULTIMATE ESCAPE (4) had no luck at all first up at Cranbourne and with better fortune he can be a major player in this. BLACK PONTIAC (10) hasn't been seen since finishing fifth to Composed in a Breeders Crown heat back in July last year. He won a trial here in 2:04.6 two weeks ago and although he'll need the run he showed potential in his inaugural season. HANDS OF LIFE (3), BRAZILIAN MONK (7) and HARMONY PRINCE (12) wind up the winning chances. A repeat performance will see him go very close again. TACTICAL JOURNEYS (4) looks the leader again and will prove tough to run down. SIERRA TANGO (2) might be the improver. She was an even fifth first up in her heat but she draws much better today and will be fitter. IT HAPPENS A LOT (12) showed them a clean pair of plates first up in her heat. She draws poorly now but mush be considered a winning hope. IMSOCLASSY (3) was third in that same race mentioned above and he'll be fitter today as that was his first go for nearly six months. Picture: STUART McCORMICK Gate crucial: WA Pacing Cup entrant Bonavista Bay. Good Reason THE anticipation to a vintage Victoria Derby continues to build. The Luke McCarthy-trained For A Reason showed why most have him nominal favourite for the Derby when he thrashed older rivals at Albion Park on Saturday night. ''I really liked him last season, but he's definitely come back even better,'' McCarthy said. ''He ran 27.3sec out of the gate (first 400m) and home in 27.7sec (last 400m).'' For A Reason, unbeaten in six starts this season, will go straight into the Derby heats at Melton's Tabcorp Park on Friday week. McCarthy said two other Queenslanders --- Lanercost and Major Bronski --- will also be key players in the Derby. ''Lanercost came back with a terrific win the other day, while Major Bronski is one of the toughest three-year-olds you'll see,'' he said. Chris Alford is tipped to drive Major Bronski for trainer Stuart Hunter. The McCarthy clan's influence on the Nights of Glory will extend to the $400,000 Hunter Cup on February 6. Luke confirmed the emerging Washakie would head to Melbourne after Friday night's $400,000 Group 1 WA Pacing Cup at Gloucester Park. Washakie showed he was primed for Perth with a sparkling 1min 54.9sec win over 1660m at Albion Park on Saturday night. ''He's been with us for about a year now and this is the best we've had him going,'' Luke said. ''Dad (John) is taking him to Perth and will drive him. His chances have improved there with the top local hope Has The Answers being put out of the draw.'' Locally, the Hunter Cup build up will continue with the Shepparton Cup on Saturday night. Bay watch OWNER Bob Proberts will wait until tomorrow's barrier draw before deciding whether to run Bonavista Bay in the WA Pacing Cup. The outstanding four-year- old reached a high on his rollercoaster WA campaign when he overcame a hard run to win the Group 1 Four-Year- Old Championship at Gloucester Park last Friday night. Bonavista Bay has struggled with hoof problems and certainly doesn't enjoy the tight Gloucester Park track. ''We thought he was back on track and that's how he ran the other night,'' Proberts said. ''He struggles when he's got to be three wide on the track, but he found the spot outside of the leader and gave them a glimpse of his best.'' It was Bonavista Bay's third win from seven starts in WA. ''It's obvious he'll need a good draw to have a winning chance this week,'' Proberts said. ''He'll go around if he draws well, but if not I might put him out for a spell. He needs a break soon. ''He certainly won't run in the Hunter Cup and I've scrapped plans to take him to NZ as well.'' Blue-blood debut INTEREST is very high in today's first race at Geelong. Cullen Bromac, a son of Christian Cullen, was the second highest-priced yearling at last year's PGG Wrightson Sales in New Zealand at $NZ150,000. Trainer Debbie Quinlan has loved him since day one and Cullen Bromac has impressed in recent trials, including a Geelong win on January 4. The other blue-blood in the race is Aussie Made Lombo, a filly by Bettors Delight out of former champion mare Tailamade Lombo. Bondy Inter trial CLASSY Kiwi stayer Bondy has arrived in Australia for the $400,000 Hunter Cup. Trainer-driver David Butt will run Bondy in a standing- start race at Melton on Friday week instead of the Ballarat Cup the following night. Bondy was a key NZ Cup entrant after fantastic spring form, but missed the race with a blood disorder. If Bondy pleases Butt in Melbourne he will progress to the heats of the Sydney Inter Dominion at Harold Park on February 19. THE HEROES HUTCHY His roughie Captian Cullen won at $39.60 at Melton on Friday night. WASHAKIE/FOR A REASON Awesome winning at Albion Park. BONAVISTA BAY When he's good, he's very, very good. VEGAS BOUND Brian Hancock's ticket back to the big time? ACACIA RIDGE/IN PURSUIT Impressed in the Maori Mile. LIVING ON FIRE Exciting return. HUTCHY'S BLACK BOOK FLYING HUNTSMAN Ex-Kiwi now with Tony Crossland. Sat in the breeze and fought on well at Bendigo. VILLAGEM Returned with an impressive win at Melton on Friday night. ITS MY PLEASURE Flashed home from well back last time. Should win at Ballarat on Wednesday night. LIVING ON ICE Looked a nice youngster last season and two-from-two this term. VINJON BEE The one to beat in The Lombo on Saturday night. COMING UP HUGE week in Victoria, with Karloo Mick racing in Saturday night's $50,000 Group 2 Shepparton Cup. Sundons Gift returns in the $30,000 Cochran Cup, and there's finals of the Lombo for two-year-olds. Friday night $400,000 WA Pacing Cup includes Washakie, Has The Answers and Im Themightyquinn. Kiwi stars Bettors Strike and Smiling Shard are at Melton's Tabcorp Park. Sunday $25,000 Ouyen Cup.
