He began badly before recovering to third in a Cranbourne stand after that, then was spelled and resumes into a winnable race. ADAMISKA (1) was pressured in the lead when a solid third to Kyvalley Alley at Shepparton ten days ago, that following a close second to handy stablemate Puerto Bonus. The likely leader, she ll take some catching over this relatively short trip. GOLDEN WAHINE (7) had the one-one when second in the Kyvalley Alley race at Shepparton and is slowly getting back to her best form. Rate her highly. GAZOLINE (3) led when cut down late by Sharendoo Lass when second at Ballarat a fortnight ago, the winner of that race proving the formline by backing up the next day to win the Horsham Trotters Cup. This fellow finished a battling fourth when closing late at Echuca last Sunday. Each way chances to YANGAR (2), who s on the improve, and the consistent LEFT ONE EYE OUT (9), who was slightly below her best last time; while DUNDOS IMAGE (4) and HILTON GEMMA (12) are also in the mix. Ratings:10/1/7/3/2,9/4,12. Suggested bet: Flexi trifecta 1, 3, 7 and 10 to win, with the field for second and third. $30.00 gets you 10% 2 Shire Of Melton Pace 7.10 1720m. $5000. A Ballarat winner in September from seven lifetime starts, she was having her second run back from a break when running home nicely for third there a fortnight ago and as the only trailer, should be sitting just off the pace. BIANCA JASPER (5) is a 24 starts maiden who ran her sixth placing when making two moves and fighting on well to be beaten a length by Summer Ace at Maryborough three weeks ago, that horse winning at its next two starts -- a good formline. RASPBERRY SPUR (6) won a similar race to this when resuming at Bendigo a month ago, then weakened after a tough trip there before a close Bendigo third and a luckless fourth at Yarra Valley last week after a wide last lap. CLASSIC TIGER (1) has raced twice for back-to-back failures back in May/June 2005. Now a seven year old, she s been trialling okay and a forward showing from this good alley wouldn t surprise. Best of the others is AUTUMN MAGIC (3), who s yet to be placed in eleven starts but resumes off a couple of handy trial placings. Ratings:5,8/6/1?/3? Suggested bet: Trifecta 5 and 8 to win and run second with the field for third. 3 BIG6 3YO Pace 7.40 2240m. $5000. 3yo PBD Mobile 1 559s7 TAIKURI B J Tindale Beau Tindale(C) Fr 41.00 2 3s126 ARTISTE R A Shinn Christopher Shinn Fr 5.50 3 16s91 ROJEN DREAM NZ R W McCartney David Murphy Fr 7.00 4 11s41 ROCHE AT LA PLAGNE A E Tubbs Amy Tubbs Fr 4.20 5 2s154 DREAM CATCH ME L Miles Lisa Miles Fr 7.00 6 15212 SMOOTH COURAGE NZ D Aiken Daryl Douglas Fr 4.00 7 17s11 LIVING ON ICE W Galea Damian Wilson Fr ★3.20 Hutchy says: Only a small field but it s a strong three year old affair with some Derby prospects strutting their stuff. LIVING ON ICE (7) was a most impressive winner in similar company here back in July, then was spelled after a Bendigo Breeders Crown heat failure. He resumed with a wide-to-the-breeze Yarra Valley success a month ago, then sprinted sharply from the one-one when producing a 27.9 last split in beating talented performers Eton Bromac and Its My Pleasure at Yarra Valley last week. The wide draw shouldn t trouble him in this small field. SMOOTH COURAGE (6) has won two of five this season, the most recent of those when working to the lead for a hollow Charlton victory a fortnight ago. Badly locked away in a slowly run race, he flashed late when a close second to Heza Panamach in a strong Bendigo affair last weekend and looks nicely graded against these. ROCHE AT LA PLAGNE (4) finished off his two year old campaign with back-to-back wins at Ararat and Ballarat, then resumed with a slightly disappointing fourth when favourite at Maryborough three weeks ago before sprinting powerfully for an impressive Horsham victory twelve days ago. He ll be further improved by those two runs. ARTISTE (2) was a first up Kilmore winner a month ago, then sat in the breeze when narrowly beaten by Heza Panamach at Ballarat before sitting behind the leader then clipping a wheel when last of six to that fellow at Bendigo last weekend. He may have won that race with a clear run and draws best of the winning chances. ROJEN DREAM (3) made it three wins from five starts with a second up fast finishing success at Maryborough eleven days ago and has strong claims along with DREAM CATCH ME (5), a first up Geelong winner early last month who was returning from a break of five weeks when he went slowly in the lead and was beaten eleven metres into fourth place by Heza Panamach at Bendigo last Saturday night. A four time winner against some classy opposition as a three year old last season, he was fourth in strong races here at his first two runs back from a spell, when narrowly beaten by Strangeasitsounds (winner again since) as an odds-on favourite at Cranbourne, and when coming from well back for a close second in a standing start affair here last weekend to be beaten narrowly by Ice Ice. ONEBYONE (7) was placed twice at Geelong at her first two runs back, then made two moves for a battling third in that same standing start race here last week and is a handy mare who looks the main danger to this favourite. BECKY CEE (6) runs many placings but hasn t won for 19 months. She s been placed in five of her latest six outings, the most recent when working hard to the lead when battling on okay for second at Yarra Valley last week. STAR CHEVAL (9) will be improved by her first up sixth in that same Yarra Valley race and a dual winner last season, grades quite well at this level. Ratings:13/7/6,9/2,5placeonly. EM MAGUANE (3), who s the class runner but resuming from a spell, was an outstanding youngster who won the Sapling Stakes as a two year old, scored in both starts in a light 3YO campaign, then won 7 of 14 last term. A strong Moonee Valley standing start winner back in May, he then ran second in a Vicbred 4YO Semi Final, finished third and fourth respectively in the final of that race and in the 4&5YO Championship but was disqualified from the latter two for returning a positive swab. A recent Bacchus Marsh trial winner, he finished in the rear at the trials here last Monday night. STERITA (2) has won seven races this season, the latest of those here on Christmas Eve. She sat behind Living On Fire when a close third at Bendigo last Saturday and with her gate speed is sure to be prominent here over the sprint trip. HECTIC (5), a five time winner last season, made it 4 from 10 this term when working to the lead and finishing off in 56.6 for an impressive Charlton victory last week. Four starts back, she beat similar on this on this circuit. CULLENS ACE (1) had good form leading up to a fourth to HECTIC (5) here two starts back when an odds-on favourite when weakening late, then pulled hard when third at Bendigo last time after having the run of the race. She has gate speed and draws to use it. MOON SPIRIT (8), who won here three starts back, has been freshened since a mid-field finish in the George Johnson behind Mendelico at Hobart. She ll be doing her best work at the finish. Ratings:3/1,2,5/8/4/9. Suggested bet: Flexi Box Trifecta 1, 2, 3, 5 and 8. $30.00 gets you 50% 6 2construct Trotters Hcp 9.10 2760m. $5000. He worked to the breeze outside Si Capisco when beaten a head by that fellow in similar company here a fortnight ago, then was looking for room when he made a mistake behind Acacia Ridge in FFA company at Bendigo last weekend. CILLAS EARL (12) ran a mighty race when third in the Shepparton Trotters Cup in December, then didn t race for five weeks before making good ground from the rear for fourth to an improved RED SAMURAI (9) here last week. They, along with SUNSET TRUSCOTT (2), who led in that race and made a late mistake (may have won), all have claims along with, to a lesser extent BETE NOIRE (3) and EARL OF MOT (7). He s preparing for a tilt at the Hunter Cup and meets a beatable lot. JACCKA SANDY (6) is a wonderfully consistent gelding who s only been out of a place once in his last ten starts, winning seven of them. He comes off back-to- back wins here last month and is returning from a five week break off a solid trial effort here last Monday night. JAZZAM (8) is a talented sit/sprint mare who won seven races last season. Her sole win this term was in a strong Shepparton affair early last month, then she went to Menangle and reeled off a fast last split when a close third in a 1:54.6 mares mile affair before having no luck in a strong mares race behind Mendelico here a fortnight ago. Watch for her fast finishing sprint. ALBERT JACCKA (7) looked back to some good form when trailing wide in the last lap and touched off late by Captian Cullen here last week and has an obvious affinity with Kerryn Manning. He has strong each way claims along with the speedy COASTAL (3), who was held up for a run here in the New Years Sprint when sixth behind Mr Feelgood a fortnight ago, before a regulation win at Bendigo last weekend. Best of the others are IN MONACO (5), who led and was close up when fifth to Captian Cullen here last week; and PRINCE BENJI (12), who had no luck when a not far away and sixth in that same event. They fought out the finish of a similar race here a fortnight ago where SANDLER (6) was forced to sit in the breeze and was outbattled late at the end of a 56.6 last half by ULTIMATE UNDER FIRE (7) who sat right behind him. A speedy beginner and most consistent performer, SANDLER (6) looks the likely leader this time while ULTIMATE UNDER FIRE (7), also a classy four year old, may have to do it tougher than last time. THREE BLADES (3) is an improving gelding who finished strongly for an easy Stawell victory last week and he s capable of causing an upset. FROM DAY ONE (2) won five of 17 last season but hasn t started since running third in a strong 3YO affair at the Valley to Sterlish back in August. He won a trial here last Monday night and draws to run a bold first up race. FOUR WISE MEN (4) and STRANGEASITSOUNDS (5) fought out a race at Ballarat a fortnight ago with STRANGEASITSOUNDS (5) out-finishing his rival FOUR WISE MEN (4) who since then, ran a brave second at Bendigo last weekend to Dual Agent Tabman. She led then took a sit when a close third at the end of a 56.4 last half to Life Inthefastlane here last week and meets much easier opposition this time. KALAHARI PRINCE (4) is an inconsistent four year old who s won six of 16. He led all the way for a first up Geelong success in a low grade CO affair early last month, then failed behind Enthral at Kilmore before a soft all the way Kilmore success last Sunday. He ll probably find the lead after SEWINYAFACE (3) relinquishes, and it s a matter of whether he has enough in reserve to stave the mare off. TRUCKIES ART (6) is an honest country performer who led when cut down late at Kilmore last Sunday and is a staying type who could take advantage of any early speed dual. ACTION ROYALE (2) is a speedster who grows a leg when she finds the lead. She ll be all out to hold the front from this alley and should she do so, will take running down. JEWEL OF MANWARRA (5) ran big races when placed at Stawell and Terang before not being able to get around them on the tight Stawell track last week. He ll settle close enough and can run by these if the pace is on. Ratings: 3/4/2,6/5. Suggested bet: SEWINYAFACE (3) to win.
