He s in against some more tightly assessed components here but looks the horse of the future and the one they have to beat. FANTASY ROCKS (1) is a lightly raced four year old who s won four of 14. He resumed with an Echuca success last Sunday when finding the lead after an early struggle and too strong for easier than these. He ll be fitter, grades well and has the draw. SHARNELLA LASS (4) only won one of her first 17 starts but has been a huge improver this season winning three of eight. First up from a short break, she worked to the breeze here three weeks ago and raced away to win easily before a twelve metre win in the final of that race at the latest meeting, when driven in similar fashion. She looks well capable of handling this rise in class. ZENTHURA (8) followed an Albury success with a death seat Kilmore victory, then made late ground from well back when fourth there last Sunday. He ll settle just off them and has an excellent each way chance. That quartet rate clear of POMARDI (2), TAB ONE (6), THE BROWNHOUSE KID (9), PERFECT JENNA (10) and MOHICAN WAR DRUM (11). Ratings:5/1/4,8/2,6,9,10,11. ELEGANTLY (5) is a Maree Caldow trained filly who debuted well when, after being held up at a vital stage, she flashed home late from mid-field for a close second to RADICAL CALZA (7). Winner of that race RADICAL CALZA (7) belied her first up Bendigo failure where she made a mistake, by putting in a booming run in the last lap to hit the lead on straightening and she had enough in hand to hold off ELEGANTLY (5). They both drew the second line in that preview and will appreciate coming to the front here, albeit from wide alleys. SHAKE IT UP BABY (3) led for a 13 metre third when debuting last week but is sure to improve, while FLYLIKA BIRD LOMBO (1), who was restrained from a wide gate, was off the track in the final circuit and hit the line well for her fourth placing. With that experience and from the pole, she s possibly the upset material. IMA RITZI LOMBO (4), a Jayne Davies trained filly, was held up and made late ground for fifth when also debuting last week and looks the only other possible winning hope. Ratings:5,7/1,3/4. Suggested bet: Trifecta 5 and 7 to win and run second, with 1, 3 and 4 for third. 3 Alan Rowney M'rial Final 7.30 2190m. $7000. 3yo 3C0 To 3C1 PBD Mobile Final 1 63s23 FOREST BABE C A Alford Chris Alford Fr 11.00 2 141s1 GRINNERSAWINNER M F Blackmore Scott Dyer Fr ★1.50 3 24640 RADICAL IMPACT S B Gilligan Neil McCallum Fr 41.00 4 81s13 INNOCENT VANCE W K Aylett Steven Duffy Fr 21.00 5 s0449 CROCODILE TEARS N P Tyndall Scratched Fr--- 6 24384 LORD LOMBO (Em1) A L Peacock Damian Wilson Fr 16.00 7 93451 WILEY JASPER P C Weidenbach Tanya Dyer Fr 21.00 Second Line 8 rs563 CLASSIC JET L A Mercieca Brian Gath Fr 34.00 9 2 SHNAPPY P D Carrafa Daniel Jack Fr 16.00 10 36345 COLOURS OF LOMBO M J Watt Ross Payne Fr 51.00 11 167s2 COMPOSED D Aiken David Aiken Fr 8.00 12 65s11 BEVSTUANMARYLU M F Blackmore Gavin Lang Fr 8.00 Hutchy says: Local trained Mick Blackmore has a strong hand here with outstanding young gelding GRINNERSAWINNER (2) and the lightly raced and talented filly BEVSTUANMARYLU (12), they being the two Shepparton heat winners of this race. GRINNERSAWINNER (2) has only been beaten once in five starts, that being when fourth in a Semi Final of a Vicbred 2YO back in July where he backed up the following week for an impressive come-from-behind victory in the $100,000 Final. He won his heat of this race here eleven days ago with a fast beginning and all the way success, when never threatened. BEVSTUANMARYLU (12) was an impressive juvenile winner from three starts as a juvenile, then came from the rear for an excellent first up success on the tight Echuca circuit three weeks ago before producing a powerful finish to overcome classy gelding COMPOSED (11) in the other Shepp. heat of this race. She has to contend with the extreme draw but with the right trail into the race (and with Gavin), can run past her illustrious stablemate. COMPOSED (11) was one of our better juveniles last season winning six of twelve. He finished mid-field in both Breeders Crown Semi Final and Final in August, then was resuming when working to the breeze in his heat and cut down late. Expect better this time - he ll be much fitter for that run. FOREST BABE (1) has been placed in three of four and comes off a first up death seat second at Geelong earlier this month and a solid and close third in the Kilmore heat of this affair to WILEY JASPER (7). From the good alley he rates an each way chance. INNOCENT VANCE (4), WILEY JASPER (7) and SHNAPPY (9) are also in the mix. Ratings:2/12/11/1/4,7,9. A close third to Hollywood Bromac from the trail at Tabcorp Park three starts back, he followed with an all the way Ballarat victory against similar to these, then led and fought on strongly when third to Coastal in a fast 1:55.8 sprint affair at Bendigo last weekend. From the draw, he s likely to get the drag along behind likely leader SHOWDOWNATMIDNIGHT (1), who s also in good form and has strong claims. This fellow returned to his good form of last season with back-to-back Nyah and Bendigo wins in late November/early December, then began badly in a Tabcorp Park stand before leading at Tabcorp Park three runs back when outstayed for a gallant second by rising star Village Of Dreams. He led and disappointed when fourth at Mildura after that, then came out and ran fast time when impressively winning at over the longer journey at Nyah during the week. Perfectly drawn for a sprint affair, he ll be mighty hard to run down. TSUNAMI LOMBO (9) is the query runner. A six time winner last season, he ll be a major player at Melton in the coming months but hasn t started since October and his fitness is the query. Each way chances to the speedy GALVERON (3), the Dean Braun trained pair of ALBY ALBERT (5) and RADIO CITY (11), who ran big races behind Living On Fire at Bendigo last weekend, along with recent Tabcorp Park placegetter ASAFA (7) and tough gelding DARK DUNCAN (10). ACACIA RIDGE (2) has had a slow build up this time in but looked good when runner up in heat and Final of the Dullard Cup, running some slick sectionals, and his victory last week confirmed that he s close to his best. A speedy beginner, he should lead while SUNDONS GIFT (11), who draws awkwardly, will have to do plenty in the last lap if he s to overcome his old foe. That being said, he s a class act but the lack of a run in the last six weeks may be slightly against him. The upset material is ARMED GUARD (1), who ran second in a Dullard Cup heat to Don King before a luckless unplaced effort from the second line in the final behind that same horse. IN PURSUIT (7) and KYVALLEY MAC (9) look best of the others. Ratings:2/11/1/9/7/8. Suggested bet: ACACIA RIDGE (2) to win. 6 Kevin Hicks Real Estate 9.02 2190m. $15000. She draws to be driven in similar fashion. VERY CHIC (6) has had a rash of bad alleys in recent times and will be a big improver here. After beginning badly in last week s standing start Echuca Cup, she got along the pegs mid-race, then used the sprint lane to finish well for her third placing. A speedy beginner, she has a good chance of finding the early lead. TOGETHER WE DO (4) comes off a hat trick of solid placings, at Tabcorp Park twice and at Ballarat. Drawn awkwardly at Tabcorp Park last week, he trailed wide from well back for a fast finishing third to Villagem, and looks to have his hoof on the till. Each way chances to VINTAGE JAG (3), who ll be improved by recent racing, JOHNORAMA (5) - luckless in last week s Horsham Cup; MISTER ANTHONY (7), who s has nothing going for him in strong races since a Tabcorp Park victory last month; CHARLEYS DREAM (9), a recent Cranbourne winner who draws to sit just off them, and KING OF PARADISE (10), who won twice at Tabcorp Park last month. He rarely runs a bad race, has only missed a place in once in his last 25 starts (this season s NZ Cup), and since running second in the Treuer Memorial at Bankstown early last month, has won country Cups at Dubbo, Young and Goulburn and run second in the Bathurst Cup. Don t forget Mr Feelgood came from a back mark and near the rear to win this race last year. POWER OF TARA (8) was lucklessly left in the breeze in last week s Bendigo Cup and grades extremely well here. Best of the front brigade may be TEAR IT ALL AWAY (2), who was wide in the last lap and hit the line well when a gallant second in the standing start Horsham Cup before having no luck when slightly outclassed in last week s Bendigo Cup. TANABI BROMAC (11) ran second in the Tasmanian Cup then led all the way to win the Horsham Cup (harder her from the ten metre mark) and has claims along with SHARDONS ROCKET (1), who was first up for some time when coming from well back for an impressive Tabcorp Park victory a fortnight ago -- he s won two trials since. In a very even race, well in the mix are BROADWAY PLAY (4), who ll be improved by three runs from a spell has a chance, along with class performer CINCINNATI KID (6), who doesn t win overmuch these days; Kilmore Cup winner OHOKA NEVADA (10); and I AM SAM (13), who won the Ararat Cup from this mark but was forced to do it a little too hard when fourth in the Horsham Cup last time. MISTER SWINGER (9) is as good as any of these but has disappointed in both runs since a first up Tabcorp Park placing and the jury is out on him at the moment. Ratings: 12/8/2,11/1,4,6,10,13/9? VINJON BEE (5) followed a debut failure at Bendigo when making a standing start mistake with his victory in that heat where he ran a fast 28.0 first quarter, shot well clear on the home turn and although weakening slightly, held well and looked a class horse in the making.
