This is an even race so his polemarking draw will count for plenty as long as he doesn t settle any worse than leaders back in transit. DANGER: PUDDINHEAD (7) has taken on some of the best juvenile pacers in Australasia since arriving here form Queensland at the start of the month. His close-up fifth in a Breeders Crown repechage at Kilmore is a true measure of his talent so he represents class even from the car park draw today. OTHERS: LOMBO MADAM LASHE (6) is another who drops sharply in grade having taken on Vicbred Super Series and Breeders Crown races at her past three. She too can show up along with impressive last start winner PARISIAN RULER (9) and genuine type SASSY MAN (2). The second row draw is annoying but Alford will make his move at the right time and it would be a massive shock to see him rolled today. DANGER: FOREVER ARMA (4) is an ex-Kiwi who ran encouraging races at his first two Aussie starts and hasn t had much luck since. He s unlikely to trouble the favourite but can certainly fill a hole. OTHERS: NIMOY (11) has been running on OK in a series of pretty strong from races and looks another logical placegetter along with the genuine GRINSNROSES (8) in this. The 20m handicap over the 2100m is never easy to overcome but it s her race to lose if everything goes to plan. DANGER: SMILE NO MORE (8) finished third behind Prettylittleangeleyes and PEARLS (10) last start. He is racing really consistently and looks a good each way option at pretty handy odds. OTHERS: APOLLO NINE (4) is usually a safe beginner form the strands and looms as one of many who can run a drum here if the breaks all go their way along with SALUTE THE WIND (2), DARETOBEDIFFERENT (3) and MISTER JONAS (9) among others. She was a Winton winner three starts back and competitive with Breeders Crown finalist Chanelle Bromac before that so rate her as the testing material in a race lacking depth. DANGER: EBABE (6) looked like a horse on the rise when winning back-to-back races at Charlton and Bendigo last time in work. She was disappointing as favourite first up but looks the best local hope on her previous form. OTHERS: RUBY SLIPPERS (3) showed great gate speed and ran an improved race from the top end last time out. A similar display will see her in the finish once more while UMI (8), OUR FABIOLLA (4) and SOPHIE KELLY (10) are place prospects at best. It s a quick front line but he should lead again and barring accidents should return to the winners list in style. DANGER: WESTERN ARDEN (4) secured a hat-trick of wins before sustaining a flat tyre at Melton last start and taking no meaningful part in the race. He is a born sit-sprinter who looks most likely to ambush WATERHORSE (1) if that horse isn t at his best. OTHERS: CENTONIC (6) is another talented sit-sprinter with blowout claims while WASHIES CHANCE (3) and UNCLE WINGNUT (5) should both put themselves in the fight early and deserve inclusion in your multiple wagers at least. A Quick beginner off the arm she may even find the front here and if anywhere near fit she d be tough to run down in that role. DANGER: ELSU PRINCE (5) is low flying at the minute but does make things hard on by getting a fair way out of his ground. The draw and opposition here may allow him to go forward early and if that s the case then a well-deserved win may be on the cards. OTHERS: BOHEMIAN LOMBO (11) has serious talent but will need to be on his best behaviour to win form the grandstand gate while I WANTANO (4) and DILLON DAPHNE (2) are also worth inclusion in your Quads. If she crosses the lot early on here as expected then she d be super tough to run down but life becomes tough if things don t pan out at the start. DANGER: OURCRWONINN (1) is the other quick beginner drawn off the front line who should boot through early in hopes of holding the front. He is a safer each way option as the worst he ll lob is leaders back in transit. OTHERS: OUR SILVER DOLLAR GIRL (10) is the class factor but she is struggling for her best form while HIGHVIEW SPIRIT (2) heads five others capable of upsetting the apple cart. Rate him as the best of three winning hopes. DANGER: STORMED OUT (12) beat FANAGALO (12) from the top end five starts back and has raced well through a Breeders Crown campaign ever since. He s the obvious threat and the class factor of the race. OTHERS: CYCLADES (5) ran a huge race form the breeze two back then had little luck last time out. THE HEROES MAKE MINE CULLEN Champion mare finishes on a high by beating Smoken Up MICHAEL LAUGHER Tasmanian trainer snared Tabcorp Park double with Twilight Town and Babyitsu DON KING Awesome first-up Melton win for trotting's comeback kid DEAN BRAUN Quinellaed The Graduate with Chancellor Cullen and Inky Cullen SUPER SUNDAY Breeders Crown finals day now the sport's pinnacle program SPRINT LANE with JASON BONNINGTON Outstanding mare: Make Mine Cullen will retire with 29 Tabcorp Park wins. First-up win: Comeback trotter Don King is a fighter. Beating the boys THE fairytale finish to Make Mine Cullen's remarkable career continued on Friday night as Victoria's inaugural mare of the year upset Smoken Up in what looms as her final run. The finest female pacer of her generation, courtesy of two Breeders Crown triumphs and wins in the Kilmore Cup and Queen of the Pacific, Make Mine Cullen has always struggled when facing the boys. But with retirement looming, Glenn Douglas's champion mare has saved the best for last, with her sprint lane success at Melton her finest feat. ''We always said if we sat on Smoken Up's back, we thought we could beat him, so it's very satisfying to do it right at the end of her career,'' Douglas said. ''It seems as though the decision to retire her has been made, which I understand. I'm just glad we've had the chance to be a part of her journey. We'll never replace her.'' If Make Mine Cullen has run her final race, she will retire with 29 Tabcorp Park wins, the equal of her two closest contemporaries, Broadways Best (15 wins) and Smoken Up (14 wins), combined. Amazing win DEAN Braun's elevation to Australia's harness racing elite continued on Friday night when Chancellor Cullen won The Graduate before a West Australian trip to kick off his four-year-old campaign. Skittled at the start of Victoria's final three-year-old feature this season, Chancellor Cullen displayed all the qualities that had him rated one of New Zealand's best young pacers. Handicapped off 10m, Braun's son of Christian Cullen lost another 60m after tapes released but was still good enough to mow down emerging stablemate Inky Cullen. The NZ Derby fourth placegetter will have a short break before being set for the Golden Nugget and McInerney Classic in Perth, the races that were the targets for stablemate Mustang Mach last season. ''He (Chancellor Cullen) was sensational. You just don't see them lose that ground and still win. It was a massive effort,'' Braun said. ''He had big wraps coming over here and he's just got it all. I think he's every bit as good as Mustang Mach, so we'll head over to the west with a fair degree of confidence when the time comes.'' Comeback King BALLARAT owner Brendan James has expressed his awe after comeback trotter Don King overcame the odds and a 40m handicap to win first-up at Melton on Friday night. In boxing parlance, the 2010 Dullard Cup winner has lifted himself off the canvas several times, with leg and back injuries curtailing an otherwise extremely promising career. Those fighting qualities were once again on display as Don King came from 30m off Backas Cobber on straightening to claim a memorable victory in his first run since October. ''It's just great to see him come back again. I didn't give him much chance when he became unbalanced on the top turn, but he's just that good that he won anyway,'' James said.
