THE EARLY OIL 1 SMOKIN' JOEY (2) showed he is ready to produce his best with an excellent finishing effort when fifth in the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes. Won the Victoria Handicap this track/ distance in the autumn and will love the likely fast pace. SPEEDINESS (3) is a smart performer who rarely runs a bad race. NSW galloper MAHISARA (12) has ability and will appreciate the drop in weight. DUSTY STAR (7) and SEA LORD (8) will run them along. SUGGESTED BET: Smokin' Joey each-way. TAB FIXED ODDS MARKET MOVER: Mahisara $6.50 into $6. 2 SNITZERLAND (10) is a star sprinter who has impressively won her past four starts, including her past two in Melbourne. The last horse to beat her was Pierro in the Golden Slipper. LANKAN RUPEE (5) is promising, winning impressively here over 1000m to make it two from two last start. GENERALIFE (7) was unlucky at Moonee Valley. SIZZLING (1) was the two-year-old star of the Brisbane winter carnival, winning his past four starts, including the T.J Smith at Group 1 level. SUGGESTED BET: Snitzerland the win. TAB FIXED ODDS MARKET MOVERS: Nil. 3 Happy to stick with Snitzerland form. HOSS AMOR (2) positioned behind Snitzerland last start at Moonee Valley, and though she never looked likely to beat Gerald Ryan's filly, she fought on well for second. SATURN ROCK (8) ran home strongly for third in same race after being held up for a run. ELITE ELLE (5) finished fourth in the same race after working hard from an outside barrier and pressuring Snitzerland on the turn. Again has drawn out. SUGGESTED BET: Hoss Amor the win. TAB FIXED ODDS MARKET MOVERS: New market. 4 Top sprinter BUFFERING (1) needed the hitout when he won at Moonee Valley, yet still proved too good. The danger could be LONE ROCK (9), who flies fresh and will be suited by the speed. Another Queenslander, TEMPLE OF BOOM (2), has ability and will finish strongly. PAMPELONNE (4) was impressive winning in Sydney last start. SUGGESTED BET: Buffering the win. TAB FIXED ODDS MARKET MOVERS: Buffering $3.30 into $2.50; Temple Of Boom $13 into $11; Pampelonne $6 into $5.50. 5 Hard to go past OCEAN PARK (6). Glen Boss positioned him closer than expected last start, and he sprinted away for an easy win in the Underwood Stakes. SINCERO (2) was trapped wide in the same race and will get a better run from an inside draw. MIDAS TOUCH (3) should be ready to improve. Should roll forward, and finished third in the Underwood Stakes last year. ALCOPOP (4) finished second in this race two years ago to So You Think. SUGGESTED BET: Ocean Park to defeat Sincero and Midas Touch in exactas. TAB FIXED ODDS MARKET MOVERS: New market. 6 MORE JOYOUS (1) can show her championship qualities, and should get a great run on the speed. Three starts at Caulfield for three wins. SOLZHENITSYN (7) ran home nicely in the Sir Rupert Clarke for third and looks a good lightweight chance. KING MUFHASA (2) is a champion miler who loves Caulfield. ILLO (6), with a light weight, might jump out of the ground. Finished second in the Peter Young Stakes to Lucas Cranach in the autumn. SUGGESTED BET: Take More Joyous to defeat 2,6 and 7 in exactas/trifectas. TAB FIXED ODDS MARKET MOVERS: Solzhenitsyn $7 into $4.80; More Joyous $1.60 out to $2. 7 PIERRO (1) is faultless. Strolled in with Stutt Stakes at only Melbourne run, and his trackwork was amazing this week. Good race for second. AWESOME BRO (7) produced the best closing sectionals of the meeting at Caulfield last start when third in the Guineas Prelude. The step up to 1600m is ideal. EPAULETTE (2) and ALL TOO HARD (3) are the other dangers. SUGGESTED BET: Pierro to defeat Awesome Bro in an exacta. TAB FIXED ODDS MARKET MOVERS: Pierro $1.35 into $1.20. 8 Hardest race of the day. GATEWOOD (2) was just beaten by subsequent Arc placegetter Masterstroke last start, form that reads well. French galloper SHAHWARDI (4) also has strong form. IRONSTEIN (3) flew home last start at Moonee Valley and gets to his favourite distance. DANCE WITH HER (6) will roll forward with MR O'CEIRIN (10). EXCEPTIONALLY (8) is flying. EXCLUDED (9) and PRECEDENCE (1) have chances. SUGGESTED BET: Box trifecta 1,2,3,4,6,8 9 and 10.
