OTHERS: PEMBROOK HENRY NZ (3) was first up when third in a Claiming Masters heat, then held up from an awkward draw in the final. He'll be improved by those outings and has a chance of toppling the favourites. JUKEBOX MUSIC (6) and THATS MISTER ALI (8) are also well in contention along with evergreen thirteen year old MISTER DOUGLAS (2), who battled on strongly when fourth from the stand to Caribbean Blaster here a fortnight ago. RATINGS:7/4/3/8/6/2. SUGGESTED BET: CATCH YOUR BREATH (7) to win. RACE 4: #goodform Pace 6.40 TOP PICK: WASHMEPOCKETS NZ (1) is a tough and consistent gelding who beat Catch Your Breath in a Claiming Masters heat, then was a gallant third to him after a wide trip in the final before not seeing daylight in the Geelong Rocket last weekend. Not a noted fast beginner, his chance would be enhanced if he held the lead, but probably sitting on whatever does, he'll get his chance in the sprint lane. DANGER: KEAYANG CULLEN (7) was a tough FFA third to Melpark Major here three starts back, then disappointed when fourth after leading here before putting up a top run in last week's Melton Plate when after working hard then taking a sit behind impressive winner Chancellor Cullen where he fought on strongly for a gallant third to that fellow and Caribbean Blaster. On that form-line, he's mighty hard to beat, but the wide draw makes his task a bit harder. OTHERS: RENAISSANCE MAN (6) was ìadequateî when a heavily supported favourite first up for more than a year and fourth here last week where he worked from the second line to find the lead. That run will have improved him and he has the gate speed to use his front line draw. BECAUSE I CAN (2) had no luck in the Melton Plate but looked good in winning five of his previous seven starts. He has gate speed, may find the top, and would be very hard to run down over the sprint journey if that eventuated. VERANJEE (3) has shown improvement recently and is a blowout chance as is TOULOUSE LAUTREC NZ (9), who can camp off a fast pace and run on strongly. RATINGS:1/7/2,6/3,9. SUGGESTED BET: WASHMEPOCKETS NZ (1) to win. RACE 5: Golden Wattle Cup 7.10 TOP PICK: Some handy mares go around here over the sprint trip and it looks an absolute raffle with every runner a winning chance. NATIONAL GALLERY NZ (11) is a lightly raced six year old who's won 10 of 21, five of seven this preparation, and is in career best form. She trailed wide in the final circuit when out- finishing LADY PENROSE NZ (6) here a fortnight ago and can beat these if she can again grab a last lap trail. DANGER: TAKEITEASYONME NZ (8) shook clear of traffic on the home turn when mowing down easier opposition here last week and draws to get a similar trip and can do the same. OTHERS: MISS TRICKIN LOMBO (12) was a tough effort when third here a fortnight ago and has returned to her form of a couple of seasons back. She doesn't draw the best but will be strong at the finish. LADY PENROSE NZ (6) finished a close second to NATIONAL GALLERY NZ (11) here last time and comes in as next pick with strong chances also to NICOLA JACCKA NZ (2), who was narrowly beaten in 1:52.7 at Menangle last week. HIGHVIEW EBONY NZ (3) is always competitive at this level and is well in the mix along with BLUCOLLA TIGERPIE (13), who hasn't raced since beating Broadways Best and our top mares in a hot race here back in July. RATINGS:8,11/6,12/2,3,13?/1,7,10/5,9. SUGGESTED BET: Each way NATIONAL GALLERY (11). RACE 6: Glenferrie Farms 7.40 TOP PICK: It doesn't get any easier with once again just about every runner here a winning chance. IMAGUNNADOGOOD (4) found the lead from the ten metre mark for a convincing Kilmore win, then made two moves and just failed to pick up all the way winner Trappers Puzzle here last week. A fast beginner, he may find the lead and has as good a chance as any. DANGER: MY HIGH EXPECTATIONS USA (2) has been placed in all three starts from a spell for new trainer David Aiken. He followed a tough wide-to-the-breeze second to Trappers Puzzle here with an impressive backmark second to SONOFANEARL NZ (7) at Bendigo and will appreciate his first front line draw for some time. OTHERS: STONED I AM (11) won three on end, the latter two of those here, before pulling hard with a flat tyre and finishing well back in the Breeders Crown 4YO Final in August. Favourite in his only run since, he galloped his way out of contention early and was never a factor but when he puts it all together, he has the ability to sprint past a field of this calibre. SPORTS FANTASY (13) completed a hat trick of wins on this circuit from the ten metre mark here a month ago then ran an honest fourth in the Scotch Notch Memorial here last week. This is easier and he has an undeniable chance. MOTU YOUNG JACOB NZ (10) finished second in the Scotch Notch and is well in the mix as are stablemates CHUCK WAGON (1) and SPARKS IGNITE (3) along with SONOFANEARL NZ (7), who's been a big improver of late ñ his most recent effort a victory at Bendigo over MY HIGH EXPECTATIONS USA (2). Evergreen NO EARLY SPARK (8) along with POSIMISTIC (6), are also well in the mix. RATINGS:2,4,11/10,13/1,3,7,8/6/9?12. SUGGESTED BET: Each way IMAGUNNADOGOOD (4). RACE 7: Pegasus Club Cup 8.10 TOP PICK: We see the long awaited return here of rising star BITOBLISS (10). This now six year old is the winner of 15 of his 25 starts and this time last year beat Mustang Mach in the Melton Plate, then raced outside the leader to win the Kilmore Cup. He followed with a victory here over Melpark Major in The Legends, ran third in the Popular Alm Sprint in December to Melpark Major, then broke down when well fancied in Smoken Up's Victoria Cup, and has been off the racetrack since. Three recent solid trial efforts culminated in a 1:56.8 clocking at Shepparton last week and this classy animal, despite his wide draw and lack of recent racing, is the clearly the one to beat. DANGER: SAINT FLASH (1) is one of this state's most improved pacers. An honest performer last season, he's won five of his last seven a ran a brave fourth to Chancellor Cullen in last week's Melton Plate where he made two moves from a wide alley and fought on strongly. He'll get a soft run in or near the lead from the draw and has a great each way chance. OTHERS: SAUCY VISION NZ (4) was runner up twice at his first two runs from a spell to SAINT FLASH (1), then a close fourth to Melpark Major in last weekend's Geelong Rocket and is a talented gelding who should be at his peak. COMPOSED (5) always threatens but doesn't win overmuch these days. He has gate speed, should settle close enough from the front line draw and looks best of the others with honourable mentions to PALAIS DU LOUVRE (3); stablemates THE SMILER NZ (6) and DOMINUS VOBISCUM NZ (7); a resuming OUR BLACKBIRD NZ (8); and GUNS N ROSES NZ (12), who has loads of ability but is first up from the extreme draw. RATINGS:10?/1,4/5/3,7,8?12? SUGGESTED BET: Box quinella and/or trifecta 1, 4 and 10. RACE 8: Swan Hill 20/10 8.40 TOP PICK: SAVESOMTIMETODREAM (11) looks to have a mortgage on this. A close fourth to Caribbean Blaster in the Breeders Crown 4YO Final, he then won softly in come-from- behind fashion at Terang and Ballarat, then was never a factor but made ground with a blistering 54.8 last half for fifth to Chancellor Cullen in last week's Melton Plate and this times drops about five grades. DANGER: UBRINGTHEDRINKS (9) had the run of the race when a useful second to Jaccka Luke here last week and has each way claims. OTHERS: SHIFTING SAND (7) had no luck in Jaccka Luke's race last week but placed here three starts back and is in the mix along with RUN FLOYD RUN (5) and THREE BLADES (8). RATINGS: 11 / 5, 7, 8, 9. SUGGESTED BET: Multi trifecta 11 to win, 1, 5, 7, 8, 9 for second, and the field for third. $45 for $1. RACE 9: Polar Linen Hcp 9.10 TOP PICK: PRESCIENT (2) easily beat YANKEE POEM (4) in all the way fashion from the mobile here two starts back before galloping early and putting himself out of business in a much stronger race than this here last week. He looks better than these but the fact that he's only been placed in one of five standing start tries is a worry. That being said, if he trots all the way he should win. DANGER: YANKEE POEM (4) has only raced nine times with his sole placing being when working hard in the last lap and second to PRESCIENT (2) first up here three weeks ago. He was badly held up when in the betting at Ballarat last time and should be given another chance. OTHERS: IM DEMIMONDAINE NZ (5) won her maiden at Maryborough five starts back and hasn't finished further back then fourth in four subsequent outings. She had every chance when third at Kilmore last week but this race looks slightly easier. WICKED SUBWOOFER (13) was having only his fourth start when charging home from the rear to score in a Ballarat stand recently, then found trouble in the final circuit from the mobile here last week. He looks to have strong each way claims. WORTHERLY (3) and MY TURN MY TURN (8) round out the winning chances. RATINGS:2/4,5,13/8/3. SUGGESTED BET: PRESCIENT (2) to win. RACE 10: Swift Signs Trot 9.40 TOP PICK: APOLLORITA (4) usually puts herself in contention and is a better mare than her 3 from 43 record suggests. She worked hard when fifth in a much stronger race at Bendigo last week and, a fast beginner from the mobile, she has a good chance of leading all the way. DANGER: CHAMP DEVINE (6) came from well back for an impressive third to Prescient here first up a couple of weeks back, then found trouble at Bendigo last time. He's suited from behind the gate and will be hard to hold out. OTHERS: Sit/sprinter MARIOS DREAM (3) out-finished a similar field from the stand at Yarra Valley a fortnight ago before an honest fourth at Kilmore last Sunday and draws to be handy. Others with a chance are LAST SUNRISE NZ (7), a fast finisher when fifth at Kilmore, and RED HOT SPECIAL (9), who disappointed after leading there but is better than that. RATINGS:4/6/3/7,9. SUGGESTED BET: APOLLORITA (4) to win. RACE 11: Empire Stallions 10.10 TOP PICK: A moderate C0 affair where BRAEVIEW WARRIOR (9) looks hardest to beat. He won a similar race at Yarra Valley in August and comes off a hat trick of placings followed by a luckless fourth to Charlie Machsheen in fast time here last week. DANGER: Stablemate ZOOMBA (5), who gets her best draw in a long time, also won a three year old race last season and she battled on well when third at Yarra Valley last time. OTHERS: ELEVENTH COMMAND (2) was runner up at Kilmore, then not disgraced in what was a sprint home behind Charlie Machsheen here last week and looks best of the others along with handy young mare UMI (4), who's been luckless recently. AMILIA JORJA (1) and RHINESTONE COWGIRL (3) are the other winning chances. RATINGS:9/5/2,4/1,3. SUGGESTED BET: BRAEVIEW WARRIOR (9) to win. RACE 12: SEW-eurodrive 10.42 TOP PICK: A strong M0 race to finish off and (surprisingly as the last race) one of the better events on the card. Every runner a has winning chance with perhaps the best of them WESTERN ARDEN NZ (2), a handy mare who was a luckless third to Cullen Bromac here a fortnight ago, then was caught on the pegs and never a chance when fifth to Jaccka Luke here last week. Drawn well, this is her chance of a metro breakthrough after 13 wins a in a 61 start career. DANGER: LE RAPIDE NZ (8) is a talented Lance Justice trained gelding who won and was placed at Cranbourne, then third at Geelong before a luckless unplaced effort there last week at his run for five weeks. He grades well and has a good trailing draw. OTHERS: BEBOP (1) is a ten time winning mare who'll be improved by four runs this time in and from the pole has strong each way claims. VINNI GAMBINO NZ (5) hasn't been far away at Menangle at his latest two runs and is in the mix along with BALANCE POINT (6), BETTOR GIVE IT NZ (7) and OUR FLYIN JAZZ NZ (10). RATINGS:2/8/1/5/6,7,10/3,4,9,11. SUGGESTED BET: WESTERN ARDEN NZ (2) to win. Tabcorp Park Melton continued TONIGHT Bathurst Sprint Lane: No Daily Double: 5, 7 Quaddie: 4, 5, 6, 7.
