With Daryl Douglas in the cart he could be primed to use the sprint lane at the finish. OTHERS: The pole marker POLICIOUS (1) will be better for her debut effort at Bendigo when leading. HEZARAMA (8) has been racing in much better company from behind the mobile of late. Back to stand conditions here however he will still be hard to hold out. DANGER: ATEGO LILLY (10) was a certainty beaten last start when she galloped in the home straight at Stawell. If she behaves she can win. OTHERS: THE YANKEE CLIPPER (1) recorded its maiden win at Ballarat leading all the way. If he repeats that effort he could take running down. All the way triumph: I Didnt Do It won the Bill Collins Mile on Saturday night and is on track to represent Australia in the Great Southern Star series at Melton in March. Record breaker CHAMPION trainer John McCarthy is expecting to have four runners in next weekend's Group 1 Victoria Cup as a result of Terrorway's record- breaking Cranbourne Cup triumph on Saturday night. In a brutal display of speed and endurance, McCarthy's six-year-old son of Western Terror slashed a second off Im Themightyquinn's Cranbourne track record, rating 1min 56.4sec for the 2555m trip. That impressive victory guarantees Terrorway a place in Saturday night's Victoria Cup. Stablemate Washakie is in career-best form and Franco Jamar and Mach Alert were also good at Cranbourne, giving McCarthy possibly a third of the Victoria Cup's 12-horse field. ''I'm certainly expecting that all four horses will get a start in the Victoria Cup,'' McCarthy said. ''If you're fair dinkum and you're doing it on form, I can't see how any of them miss out. ''I can tell you there's very little between them on ability andiftheyallgetarunanyof them can win.'' While it was a weekend of celebration for team McCarthy, trainer-driver Scott Stewart was left wondering what went wrong with Cranbourne Cup favourite Bitobliss. After working hard to find the breeze outside Melpark Major, the two-time Kilmore Cup winner eventually rolled to the top but was a beaten horse soon after entering the straight. The good news is that Bitobliss did not pull up lame. Blood tests today will dictate whether he lines up in the Victoria Cup. ''I'm half hoping the bloods will tell us something's a bit wrong but, having said that, it might have just been too tough a trip,'' Stewart said. ''Don't worry about the last 50m. I was very easy on him late.'' Star runner MICHAEL Taranto's dream of qualifying I Didnt Do It for March's inaugural Great Southern Star at Tabcorp Park, Melton, is reality after the talented trotter won the Bill Collins Mile at Cranbourne. The pillar-to-post Bill Collins triumph was I Didnt Do It's second Group 1 success, following last season's Australian Grand Prix win, and confirmed him as Victoria's leading trotter. But it was the chance to represent Australia in next year's squaregaiting feature that most thrilled Taranto, a long-time committeeman at Cranbourne Harness Racing Club. ''He (I Didnt Do It) has won about $400,000 from only 60 starts, he's as versatile as we're ever going to get him, so whatever he does from here on in is a bonus,'' he said. ''Having said that, we were desperate to get our ticket into the big dance. ''The Great Southern Star is going to be a sensational showcase and to know we'll be part of it is very special indeed.'' Mighty mission PACING legends Im Themightyquinn and Smoken Up went under the radar in their final Victoria Cup lead- ups, registering painless Friday night wins at Perth and Melton respectively. Dual Inter Dominion winner Im Themightyquinn is unbeaten this campaign and racing like a horse on a mission, while Smoken Up has improved at every run so far this term. The barrier draws for Saturday night's $400,000 Victoria Cup meeting will be conducted tomorrow morning.
